Classic Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is a distinct entity among hematological malignancies of B-cell origin. It is characterized by its unique histopathological features and generally favorable prognosis. Over the years, advancements in understanding its pathogenesis, coupled with refined diagnostic and evaluation modalities, as well as therapeutic strategies, have significantly transformed the landscape of HL management.

Background: Ultra-high dose rate (UHDR/FLASH) irradiations, along with particle minibeam therapy (PMBT) are both emerging as promising alternatives to current radiotherapy techniques thanks to their improved healthy tissue sparing and similar tumor control.

Purpose: Monte Carlo (MC) modeling of a commercial machine delivering 5-7 MeV electrons at UHDR. This model was used afterward to compare measurements against simulations for an experimental setup combining both FLASH and PMBT modalities.

Management of large Trigeminal Schwannoma: long-term oncologic and functional outcome from a multicentric retrospective cohort.

Objective: Trigeminal schwannoma (TS), though a rare and benign tumor, becomes a significant surgical challenge due to its intricate location. This study aims to detail the long-term functional outcomes and tumor control post-surgical resection.

Method: We analyzed a multicentric retrospective cohort of 39 patients operated on for a TS in five tertiary centers between January 1993 and July 2022.

Exploiting Micrometer-Scale Replication of Fungal Biotemplates for Multifunctional Uses in Electrochemistry and SERS Substrates.

In this paper, filamentous fungi have been used as biotemplates to integrate gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) into the cell wall. A new chemical mechanism has been proposed to elucidate the assimilation of Au-NPs by fungi, considering the ionic current that arises in the function of fungal metabolism. After biological components were eliminated, mycelium-like gold microtubes have been obtained using different fungal species as precursors.

Prognosis of patients with multiple sclerosis associated with uveitis.

Background: Uveitis may be associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1% of cases. Prognosis of this association remains unknown.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis in a cohort of 41 patients with MS (34 relapsing-remitting MS, and 7 secondary progressive MS) matched with 123 controls (MS without uveitis) followed in Department of Neurology, Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital, Paris.

Playing sport as a central-line carrier: a survey to collect the European pediatric intestinal failure centers' view.

Background: The administration of home parenteral nutrition improves quality of life for patients with intestinal failure, thus fostering their will to actively participate to social activities. Nevertheless, sports participation can be risky for patients with a central venous catheter (CVC). Despite literature thoroughly proving the positive impact of sports on motor-psychosocial development, no consistent evidence assessing its role on central-line complications is available.

Pulmonary metastasectomy for sarcoma: Insights from a referral-center cohort.

Introduction: The low incidence and heterogeneity of sarcomas limit understanding of their progression in metastatic cases. The use of metastasectomy is debated due to lack of consensus and evidence-based data. This study aimed to identify simple prognostic factors that could contribute to the therapeutic strategy.

Drug dosing optimization in critically ill children under continuous renal replacement therapy: from basic concepts to the bedside model informed precision dosing.

Introduction: Optimizing drug dosage in critically ill children undergoing Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) is mandatory and challenging, given the many factors impacting pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics coupled with the vulnerability of this population.

Areas Covered: A good understanding of the mechanisms that determine drug elimination via the CRRT technique is useful to avoid prescription pitfalls, however limited by the high between and within subject variability. The developments of population pharmacokinetic and physiologically based pharmacokinetic models derived from in-vivo and in-vitro studies, are challenging, but remain the most appropriate tool to suggest adjusted dosage regimens for every patient, throughout treatment.

Lymphadenopathy in systemic lupus erythematosus: no microbial trigger found by shotgun metagenomics in a retrospective study on 38 patients.

Objectives: Lymphadenopathy is a classical manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) flare, occurring in approximately half of patients during the course of the disease. Lymphadenopathy in SLE is frequently associated with fever. Microbial infection may play a role in SLE onset and flares.

The effect of polygenic risk score and childhood adversity on transdiagnostic symptom dimensions at first-episode psychosis: evidence for an affective pathway to psychosis.

Childhood adversity is associated with various clinical dimensions in psychosis; however, how genetic vulnerability shapes the adversity-associated psychopathological signature is yet to be studied. We studied data of 583 First Episode Psychosis (FEP) cases from the EU-GEI FEP case-control study, including Polygenic risk scores for major depressive disorder (MDD-PRS), bipolar disorder (BD-PRS) and schizophrenia (SZ-PRS); childhood adversity measured with the total score of the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ); and positive, negative, depressive and manic psychopathological domains from a factor model of transdiagnostic dimensions. Genes and environment interactions were explored as a departure from a multiplicative effect of PRSs and total CTQ on each dimension.

Students' perceptions of knowledge reinforcement on indirect prosthetic dental material choices by a translational approach.

Purpose/objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate students' perceptions of the reinforcement of knowledge via innovative, case-based, hands-on learning regarding indirect prosthetic material choice.

Methods: Six different clinical cases that represented common prosthetics were used in this simulation training. In each case, clinical pictures were associated with three-dimensional (3D)-printed replicates of final restorations and PolyJet polychromatic models with the goal of enabling students to deliberate and exchange ideas in small groups.

Long-term real world evidence of CPX-351 of high-risk AML patients identified high rate of negative MRD and prolonged OS.

CPX-351 has been approved for patients with therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (t-AML) or AML with myelodysplasia-related changes (MRC-AML). No extensive data are available on MRD and long-term clinical outcome using CPX-351 in AML in real-life. We retrospectively collected data from 168 patients in 36 centers in France and Italy who had received one or two cycles of induction with CPX-351.

Background: Among the crises engulfing the world is the symbiotic rise of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) and plastics. Together, this co-dependent duo generates substantial profits for agri-food and petrochemical industries at high costs for people and planet. Cheap, lightweight and highly functional, plastics have ideal properties that enable business models to create demand for low-cost, mass-produced and hyper-palatable UPFs among populations worldwide, hungry, or not.

Conditional survival of younger patients with mantle cell lymphoma: Results from a randomized phase III trial of the European MCL Network.

During a fatal disease, patients often request updated information on their prognosis. After patients have already survived a certain time, conditional survival captures their future survival probability. We investigated conditional overall and failure-free survival in 473 younger mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) patients from a randomized phase III trial comparing immunochemotherapies R-CHOP and alternating R-CHOP/R-DHAP before autologous transplantation.

Benefits of self-paced concurrent training on lung function, cardiopulmonary fitness and fatigue perception in patients with multiple sclerosis.

Studying the effects of self-paced concurrent high-intensity interval training and resistance training (HIIT-RT) on respiratory function, cardiopulmonary fitness and fatigue perception in patients with multiple sclerosis (PwMS). Twenty-three PwMS were randomized into a 12-week training group (three times per week) (TG, n = 11) or a control group (CG, n = 12). Lung function (spirometry), aerobic capacity (graded cardiopulmonary-exercise-testing) and perceived fatigue (Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS)) were evaluated pre- and post-intervention.

Dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 variants in West Africa: Insights into genomic surveillance in resource-constrained settings.

SARS-CoV-2 geno-surveillance has been challenging in West Africa. Despite the multiple challenges encountered, particularly in West Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts were made to circumscribe the spread of the disease and to provide methods and resources for surveillance. We aim to describe the dynamic of SARS-CoV-2 variants and highlight the efforts made in genomic surveillance in West Africa.
