Conventional techniques that measure the concentration of light elements in metallic materials lack high-resolution performance due to their intrinsic limitation of sensitivity. In that context, scanning microwave microscopy has the potential to significantly enhance the quantification of element distribution due to its ability to perform a tomographic investigation of the sample. Scanning microwave microscopy associates the local electromagnetic measurement and the nanoscale resolution of an atomic force microscope.

Background: Our study aimed to provide real-world evidence on the treatment patterns, effectiveness and safety of canakinumab in France in Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), Mevalonate Kinase Deficiency (MKD), and Tumor necrosis factor Receptor Associated Periodic Syndrome (TRAPS).
Methods: This study used the JIR cohort, a multicentre international registry created in 2013 to collect data on patients with juvenile inflammatory rheumatic diseases. French patients diagnosed with FMF, MKD or TRAPS and treated with canakinumab were included in this study.

Background: The mesenchymal subtype of colorectal cancer (CRC), associated with poor prognosis, is characterized by abundant expression of the cellular prion protein PrP, which represents a candidate therapeutic target. How PrP is induced in CRC remains elusive. This study aims to elucidate the signaling pathways governing PrP expression and to shed light on the gene regulatory networks linked to PrP.

The field of cancer neuroscience has begun to define the contributions of nerves to cancer initiation and progression; here, we highlight the future directions of basic and translational cancer neuroscience for malignancies arising outside of the central nervous system.

Aims: To resolve the ongoing controversy surrounding the impact of teratoma (TER) in the primary among patients with metastatic testicular non-seminomatous germ-cell tumours (NSGCT).
Patients And Methods: Using the International Germ Cell Cancer Collaborative Group (IGCCCG) Update Consortium database, we compared the survival probabilities of patients with metastatic testicular GCT with TER (TER) or without TER (NTER) in their primaries corrected for known prognostic factors. Progression-free survival (5y-PFS) and overall survival at 5 years (5y-OS) were estimated by the Kaplan-Meier method.

Purpose: Managing high-grade endometrial cancer in Martinique poses significant challenges. The diversity of copy number alterations in high-grade endometrial tumors, often associated with a TP53 mutation, is a key factor complicating treatment. Due to the high incidence of high-grade tumors with poor prognosis, our study aimed to characterize the molecular signature of these tumors within a cohort of 25 high-grade endometrial cases.

I was recently surprised to hear a medical doctor on a TV show refute the role of stress in cancer, assuming that "the whole population would have cancer if this was the case." This statement illustrates a long and winding road since Hippocrates suggested the potential relationship between cancer and psychologic disturbances. The 20th and 21st centuries have finally witnessed the evidence of how physical or psychosocial stress situations contribute to the development and progression of cancer, and it is now assumed that psychologic stress does affect multiple aspects of cancer such as angiogenesis, immunologic escape, invasion, and metastasis.

Therapeutic management of acquired von Willebrand syndrome (AVWS) can be challenging, particularly in cases of AVWS associated with monoclonal IgM such as Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM) where several therapeutic options may be ineffective. Here, we describe the case of an 88-year-old patient who developed AVWS during follow-up for WM. The presence of a severe bleeding symptomatology not controlled by several therapies (plasma-derived von Willebrand factor, plasmapheresis) led us to introduce a supplementation with recombinant von Willebrand factor, vonicog α (Veyvondi, Takeda, Japan), starting at a dose of 50 IU/kg/d.

Background: Bone morphogenetic proteins 9 and 10 (BMP9 and BMP10), encoded by and , respectively, play a pivotal role in pulmonary vascular regulation. variants have been reported in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). However, the phenotype of and carriers remains largely unexplored.

Introduction: Advances in haemophilia treatment have resulted in a near-normal life expectancy, lower burden of bleeding and treatment, and improved quality of life in high-income countries. Bleeding rate is approaching zero and novel parameters should be evaluated to assess the efficacy of treatment not only from the clinical point of view by using new methodologies (e.g.

Background: The aim of the study was to describe and investigate the effect of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) therapies in a cohort of patients with severe precapillary pulmonary hypertension (PH) associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD; PH-COPD), and to assess factors predictive of treatment response and mortality.
Material And Methods: We retrospectively included patients with severe incident PH-COPD who received PAH therapy and underwent RHC at diagnosis and on treatment.
Results: From 2015 to 2022, 35 severe PH-COPD patients, with clinical features of pulmonary vascular phenotype, were included.

The industrial rearing of the yellow mealworm () for feed and food purposes on agricultural by-products may expose larvae and adults to entomopathogens used as biocontrol agents in crop production. Bacterial spores/toxins or fungal conidia from species such as or could affect the survival and growth of insects. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the potential benefits of a wheat bran diet supplemented with probiotic bacteria and dried egg white on larval development and survival and its effects on the gut microbiome composition.

Introduction: Multisystemic inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a therapeutic emergency and can lead to myocardial dysfunction (17%-75%) and heart failure (52%-53%). Intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG) and corticosteroids (CST) have been validated for the management of this condition. Recent reports suggest that an interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor antagonist, namely anakinra, may be a valuable add-on to the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) treatment for refractory patients.

Background: Endomyocardial biopsies (EMB) are recommended for the detection of acute cardiac rejection (ACR) despite limited sensitivity. We report the long-term post-transplant results of Doppler echocardiography as a noninvasive alternative of routine EMB.
Methods: Two cohorts of heart transplantation (HT) recipients were chronologically defined as follows: the Dual Monitoring Cohort (DMC) from January 1990 to December 1997 included patients who underwent routine EMB and Doppler echocardiography within 24 hours for ACR surveillance; and the "Echo-First Cohort" (EFC), including patients transplanted from January 1998 to December 2018 with Doppler echocardiography as first-line approach for ACR surveillance.

Background: Incorporating interprofessional collaboration within healthcare is critical to delivery of patient-centered care. Interprofessional Education (IPE) programs are key to promoting such collaboration. The 'Public Health Service' (PHS) in France is a mandatory IPE initiative that embodies this collaborative spirit, bringing together students from varied health undergraduate training programs-nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy, midwifery, and medicine- in a common training program focused on primary prevention.

Background: Patients with nonmetastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC) are usually asymptomatic and seek treatments that improve survival but have a low risk of adverse events. Darolutamide, a structurally distinct androgen receptor inhibitor (ARi), significantly reduced the risk of metastasis and death versus placebo in ARAMIS. We assessed the extended safety and tolerability of darolutamide and the time-course profile of treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) related to ARis and androgen-suppressive treatment.

Background & Aims: The diagnosis of primary liver cancers (PLCs) can be challenging, especially on biopsies and for combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CCA). We automatically classified PLCs on routine-stained biopsies using a weakly supervised learning method.
Method: We selected 166 PLC biopsies divided into training, internal and external validation sets: 90, 29 and 47 samples, respectively.
