Purpose: Surgical treatments for symptomatic borderline dysplastic hips (Lateral Center-Edge Angle: LCEA 18-25°) remain challenging, instability being the primary issue. Currently, treatment options include arthroscopic procedures or peri-acetabular osteotomy (PAO). Although the popularity of the acetabular shelf bone block has declined in favor of PAO, it may still be relevant as a hip joint stabilizer and coverage area, rather than for increasing coverage area by cartilage.

Percutaneous Axillary Access in the Endovascular Era: A Viable Alternative.

Ann Vasc Surg

January 2025

Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Department, Dijon University Hospital, Dijon, France; Laboratory PEC 2 EA 7460, University of Burgundy and Franche-Comté, Dijon, France.

Background: The common femoral artery is the most commonly used vascular access due to its low complication rate and high technical success rate. However, this approach may be less suitable in patients with certain factors such as obesity, the need to treat both lower limbs, and the inability to access the lesion via crossover. In this context, endovascular approaches using percutaneous puncture or upper arm access have emerged.

ApolipoproteinC1 (apoC1) is the main physiological inhibitor of the cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP). Increased CETP activity is associated with macrovascular complications in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D). ApoC1 has lost its ability to inhibit CETP in patients with T1D, and in vitro glycation of apoC1 increases CETP activity, suggesting that hyperglycemia could be a factor implicated in the loss of the inhibitory effect of apoC1 on CETP.
