Purpose: The conversion of knee arthrodesis to total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a challenging procedure. This article aims to report a case of fusion knee with patellar absence who was converted to TKA and has achieved good results.
Methods: The patient, a 23 years old Tibetan Buddhist monk, sustained a left knee joint injury at the age of 12 due to a car accident, leading to subsequent knee arthrodesis at 18 years old as a result of recurrent severe infections.

Background And Purpose: Many patients who gained successful recanalization by endovascular treatment (EVT) with acute large vessel occlusion (LVO) did not have the favorable outcome. The study aimed to assess the association between H-type hypertension and clinical prognosis in patients with LVO after receiving EVT.
Methods: Our study enrolled patients from the Endovascular Treatment With versus Without Tirofiban for Stroke Patients with Large Vessel Occlusion (RESCUE BT) Trial.

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a reliable biomarker for various diseases, making the development of new detection methods highly significant. Herein, we report a simple and accurate dual-signal optical detection strategy for measuring ALP activity across the entire clinical range in adults. Based on this, we designed a smartphone app to eliminate the limitations of large instruments, enabling real-time field detection.

Background: Effective management of cutaneous nocardiosis is hampered by the lack of defined treatment recommendations and frequently requires prolonged antibiotic therapy.
Case Presentation: This report describes a case of cutaneous nocardiosis who was effectively treated in a brief amount of time with three sessions of 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) in conjunction with antibiotics.
Conclusion: ALA-PDT combined with antibiotics may effectively treat refractory cutaneous nocardiosis.

With the growing demand for precision medicine and advancements in microneedle technology, microneedle-based drug delivery systems have evolved into integrated theranostic platforms. However, the development of these systems is currently limited by the absence of clear conclusions and standardized construction strategies. The end-to-end concept offers an innovative approach to theranostic systems by creating a seamless process that integrates target sampling, sensing, analysis, and on-demand drug delivery.

Background: Cell death plays an essential role in carcinogenesis, but its function in the recurrence and postoperative prognosis of head and neck cancer (HNC), which ranks as the 7 most common malignancy globally, remains unclear.
Methods: Data from five main subtypes of HNC related single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) were recruited to establish a single-cell atlas, and the distribution of cell death models (CDMs) across different tissues as well as cell subtypes were analyzed. Bulk RNA-seq from the Cancer Genome Atlas Program (TCGA) dataset was subjected to a machine learning-based integrative procedure for constructing a consensus cell death-related signature risk score (CDRscore) model and validated by external data.

Dendritic epidermal T cells (DETCs) are a unique subset of γδ T cells that reside predominantly in mouse epidermis; yet, their antitumor functions remain enigmatic. In this study, we report that DETCs mediate potent and exquisitely selective cytotoxicity against diverse tumor types while sparing healthy cells. In vitro, DETCs induced apoptosis in melanoma, hepatoma, colon carcinoma, and lymphoma lines in a dose- and time-dependent manner that required direct cell-cell contact.

To develop a nomogram model for preoperative diagnosis of proliferative hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) based on gadolinium ethoxybenzyl diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA) enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and to explore its clinical value. MRI and clinical pathological data of patients confirmed by pathology as proliferative HCC (178 cases) and non-proliferative HCC (378 cases) between September 2017 and November 2022 who underwent preoperative Gd-EOB-DTPA enhanced MRI scans were retrospectively collected. The MRI features and clinical pathological characteristics of proliferative and non-proliferative HCC were evaluated.

Communication of gut hormones with the central nervous system is important to regulate systemic glucose homeostasis, but the precise underlying mechanism involved remain little understood. Nesfatin-1, encoded by nucleobindin-2 (NUCB2), a potent anorexigenic peptide hormone, was found to be released from the gastrointestinal tract, but its specific function in this context remains unclear. Herein, we found that gut nesfatin-1 can sense nutrients such as glucose and lipids and subsequently decreases hepatic glucose production.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the association of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) with cognitive function and dementia risk, taking genetic predisposition for dementia into account.
Methods: Within the UK Biobank, 61 214 dementia-free participants aged 39-70 years were followed for up to 12 years. CRF score was estimated using a 6 min submaximal exercise test on a stationary bike and divided into tertiles (ie, low, moderate, and high; standardised by age and sex).
