Treatment of esophageal perforation or rupture is complicated and controversial, especially in advanced cases. In fact, it is generally accepted that this disease must be treated individually according to the location, causes and clinical features of rupture or perforation. A very rare case was admitted to our department, who was injured 5 days ago by high-pressure gas of a running air compressor and resulted in a long-term longitudinal rupture of the thoracic esophagus.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a highly degenerative joint disease, mainly companying with progressive destruction of articular cartilage. Adipose-derived stromal cells (ADSCs) therapy enhances articular cartilage repair, extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis and attenuates joints inflammation, but specific mechanisms of therapeutic benefit remain poorly understood. This study aimed to clarify the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of ADSCs on cartilage damage in the keen joint of OA rat model.

Research indicates that sleep problem is a behavioral risk factor of obesity. However, few research have applied a multi-dimensional approach to investigate the relationship between sleep health and adiposity. Therefore, the current study aimed to examine the associations of sleep characteristics (duration, quality) and chronotype with overweight/obesity as measured by body mass index.

The main factors contributing to the unfavorable outcome in the clinical treatment of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients are radiation resistance and recurrence. This study aimed to investigate the sensitivity and molecular foundation of cytokeratin 13 (CK13) in the radiotherapy of NPC. To achieve this, a human NPC cell line overexpressing CK13, HNE-3-CK13, was constructed.

Introduction: Previous studies suggested that sevelamer carbonate is well tolerated with a favorable efficacy and safety profile in both dialysis and nondialysis patients in Europe; however, the efficacy remains controversial, and few studies have examined sevelamer carbonate therapy in other ethnic nondialysis CKD patients. This study assessed the efficacy and safety of sevelamer carbonate in Chinese nondialysis CKD patients with hyperphosphatemia.
Methods: The multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled, and phase 3 clinical trial enrolled 202 Chinese nondialysis CKD patients with serum phosphorus ≥1.

Background: Diabetic foot ulcerations (DFUs) are a common but highly morbid complication of long-standing diabetes, carrying high rates of associated major amputation and mortality. Transverse tibial bone transport (TTT) has recently been applied for treatment of DFUs with the aim of accelerating wound healing. This study was performed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of TTT in patients with DFUs.

Machine learning based artificial intelligence technology for big data processing has shown great potential in predicting patients' conditions and aiding clinical decisions, and has been widely used in the development of clinical decision support systems in recent years. Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by host response disorder caused by infection, and its early recognition and treatment can significantly improve the prognosis of patients. At present, there are many deficiencies in the clinical application of sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA), bedside quick sequential organ failure assessment (qSOFA), national early warning score (NEWS), inflammatory indicators, and novel biomarkers for evaluating sepsis.

Human epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is involved in strong association with malignant proliferation, which has been shown to play a central role in the development and progression of non-small cell lung cancer and other solid tumors. The tumor-suppressor protein MIG6 is a negative regulator of EGFR kinase activity by binding at the activation interface of asymmetric dimer of EGFR kinase domain to disrupt EGFR dimerization and then inactivate the kinase. The protein adopts two discrete fragments 1 and 2 to directly interact with EGFR.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is characterised by cartilage destruction; however, there are no specific drugs available for its treatment. Cartilage-derived stem/progenitor cells (CSPCs) are multipotent cells that play an essential role in cartilage renewal and may provide critical insights into the medical needs for OA treatment. However, alterations in cell function and fate of CSPCs during OA progression have seldom been analysed, especially at the single-cell level.

Dual-hereditary jaundice (Dubin-Johnson syndrome (DJS) and Gilbert's syndrome (GS)) is a rare clinical entity resulting from defects of the ATP binding cassette subfamily C member 2 (ABCC2) and UDP glucuronosyltransferase family 1 member A1 (UGT1A1) genes with autosomal recessive inheritance. In this study, we aimed to investigate the mutation profiles and characterize the phenotypes in a Han Chinese family with DJS and GS. Genetic screening for variants in the ABCC2 and UGT1A1, immunohistochemistry for expression of ABCC2, and histopathological examination were carried out.

Background: Hepatic fibrosis is a common pathologic stage in chronic liver disease development, which might ultimately lead to liver cirrhosis. Accumulating evidence suggests that adipose-derived stromal cells (ADSCs)-based therapies show excellent therapeutic potential in liver injury disease owing to its superior properties, including tissue repair ability and immunomodulation effect. However, cell-based therapy still limits to several problems, such as engraftment efficiency and immunoreaction, which impede the ADSCs-based therapeutics development.
