To construct and characterize conditional Src homology region 2 protein tyrosine phosphatase 1 (SHP-1) knockout mice in airway epithelial cells and to observe the effect of defective SHP-1 expression in airway epithelial cells on the emphysema phenotype in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). To detect the expression of SHP-1 in the airway epithelium of COPD patients. CRISPR/Cas9 technology was used to construct SHP-1flox/flox transgenic mice, which were mated with airway epithelial Clara protein 10-cyclase recombinase and estrogen receptor fusion transgenic mice (CC10-CreER), and after intraperitoneal injection of tamoxifen, airway epithelial SHP-1 knockout mice were obtained (SHP-1CC10-CreER, SHP-1).

Background/objectives: To determine the relationship between corneal stress-strain index (SSI) and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness.
Subjects/methods: 1645 healthy university students from a university-based study contributed to the analysis. The RNFL thickness was measured by high-definition optical coherence tomography (HD-OCT), axial length (AL) was measured by IOL Master, and corneal biomechanics including SSI, biomechanical corrected intraocular pressure (bIOP), and central corneal thickness (CCT) were measured by Corvis ST.

Background: Intravascular leiomyomatosis (IVL) of the uterus is extremely rare in clinical practice, often involving the pelvic and abdominal veins. Involvement of the heart and pulmonary arteries is rarer but can lead to severe clinical outcomes. It is difficult to diagnose the disease before operation, and most of them are found accidentally during the operation or postoperative pathology of uterine fibroids.

Human interleukin-5 (IL-5) functions as an important pro-inflammatory factor by binding to its specific receptor, IL-5Rα, which has been implicated in the pathogenesis of asthma. Previously, a disulfide-bonded cyclic peptide AF17121 obtained from random library screening and sequence variation was found to competitively disrupt the cognate IL-5Rα/IL-5 interaction with moderate potency. In this study, the crystal complex of IL-5Rα with AF17121 was investigated at structural and energetic levels.

Critical care ultrasound has many operational advantages such as visualization, reproducibility, noninvasiveness, and real-time dynamic monitoring, and is now widely used in the treatment process of various clinical diseases. Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. On the basis of active anti-infection, early administration of fluid resuscitation to maintain organ tissue perfusion and individualized adjustment of volume management is the core of improving patient prognosis and reducing mortality.

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is the recommended treatment for 2-4-cm renal stones. Minimally invasive PCNL (MPCNL) with ≤22F sheath was frequently used instead of standard PCNL. MPCNL uses pressurized irrigation to flush out stone fragments through a conventional nephrostomy sheath (cNS), which may result in higher intrarenal pressure (IRP) and longer operating time.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease involving cartilage. Exosomes derived from Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) therapy improves articular cartilage repair, but subcutaneous fat (SC) stromal cells derived exosomes (MSCs-Exos), especially engineering MSCs-Exos for drug delivery have been rarely reported in OA therapy. This objective of this study was to clarify the underlying mechanism of MSCs-Exos on cartilage repair and therapy of engineering MSCs-Exos for drug delivery in OA.

Hyperphosphatemia is independently linked with vascular calcification, cardiovascular disease, bone-mineral disease, progression of renal insufficiency, and all-cause mortality in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The emerging importance of fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF-23) and its co-factor Klotho play very important roles as phosphaturic hormones; however, phosphate levels rise due to a loss of renal Klotho production and the phosphaturic effects of the FGF-23/Klotho axis. Hyperphosphatemia is also associated with calciphylaxis, acceleration of renal tubulointerstitial disease, renal osteodystrophy, and uremic cardiomyopathy.

Background: Myopia is prevalent in children and adolescents. Understanding the effect of multiple behaviors and their latent patterns on ocular biometric parameters may help clinicians and public health practitioners understand the behavioral risk pattern of myopia from a person-centered perspective. The purpose of this study was to identify the patterns of four major behavioral risk factors associated with myopia, including time spent outdoors, digital screen time, sleep duration, and performance of Chinese eye exercises.
