The influence of oat lipids on the structural, thermal, rheological, and in vitro digestibility properties of oat starch under heat processing conditions was investigated. X-ray diffraction, fourier infrared spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry revealed the formation of a V-shaped crystal structure between starch and lipid, resulting in enhanced orderliness and enthalpy. Oat lipids decreased the final viscosity and gel strength of oat starch while weakening the trend towards gel network formation.

The clinical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is challenging. We developed copper sulfate (CuS)/disulfiram (DSF)/methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (EL)/polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) nanoplatform (CuS/DSF/EL/PVP) and evaluated its efficiency for treating IBD. After oral administration, the pH-sensitive EL protected the CuS/DSF/EL/PVP against degradation by acidic gastric juices.

Benefiting from the biocompatibility, adhesiveness, and natural extracellular matrix-mimicking ability, hydrogels have received increasing research in recent years. In this study, a hydrogel system composed of dopamine, quaternized ammoniated chitosan (QCS), and polyvinylpyrrolidone was reported to exhibit fast hemostatic properties in Sprague-Dawley rat tail amputation and liver bleeding models. The results showed that this hydrogel had good hemostatic properties.

To achieve efficient gene delivery or , nonviral vectors should have excellent biostability across cellular and tissue barriers and also smart stimuli responsiveness toward controlled release of therapeutic genes into the cell nucleus. However, it remains a key challenge to effectively combine the biostability of covalent polymers with the stimuli responsiveness of noncovalent polymers into one nonviral vehicle. In this work, we report the construction of a kind of cationic supramolecular block copolymers (SBCs) through noncovalent polymerization of β-cyclodextrin/azobenzene-terminated pentaethylenehexamine (DMA-Azo-PEHA-β-CD) in aqueous media using β-CD-monosubstituted poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG-β-CD) as a supramolecular initiator.

Stopping bleeding at an early stage and promoting wound healing are of great significance for efficient wound management. In this study, a carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS)/poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA)/platelet-rich plasma (PRP) hydrogel (CP-PRP hydrogel) was firstly prepared by crosslinking of CMCS with γ-PGA and the enzymatic coagulation of PRP. Then, the CP-PRP hydrogel was freeze-dried and transformed into a sponge (CP-PRP sponge).

A photodetector based on a hybrid dimensional heterostructure of laterally aligned multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and multilayered MoS was prepared using the micro-nano fixed-point transfer technique. Thanks to the high mobility of carbon nanotubes and the efficient interband absorption of MoS, broadband detection from visible to near-infrared (520-1060 nm) was achieved. The test results demonstrate that the MWCNT-MoS2 heterostructure-based photodetector device exhibits an exceptional responsivity, detectivity, and external quantum efficiency.

Currently, uncontrolled bleeding remains a serious problem in emergency, surgical and battlefield environments. Despite the specific properties of available hemostatic agents, sealants, and adhesives, effective hemostasis under wet and dynamic conditions remains a challenge. In recent years, polymeric hydrogels with excellent hemostatic properties have received much attention because of their adjustable mechanical properties, high porosity, and biocompatibility.

Metformin is widely used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and plays a role in antitumor and antiobesity processes. A recent study identified its direct molecular target, PEN2 (PSENEN). PSENEN is the minimal subunit of the multiprotein complex γ-secretase, which promotes the differentiation of oligodendrocyte progenitors into astrocytes in the central nervous system.

Optical modulation is the process of modifying the structure and elemental composition of materials so that the main optical parameters, including amplitude, frequency, and phase, are changed. Currently, much research attention has been directed toward ultrafast dynamics, but the process of modulation is often complex. To simplify the optical modulation process and improve the optical properties of perovskites for semiconductor quantum dot (QD) lasers, the process and physical mechanism underlying graphene QD ultrafast modulation of the optical properties of perovskite CsPbBr QDs were investigated.

Fiber-shaped supercapacitors (FSCs) are promising energy storage devices for portable and wearable electronics due to their miniaturized size, flexibility, and knittability. Despite the significant progress in this area, it is still a challenge to develop large capacitance and high energy density FSCs for practical applications. In this work, a hybrid fiber composed of reduced graphene oxide and polyaniline nanoparticles (r-PANI-GOF) is synthesized viasynthesis of polyaniline nanoparticles both on the surface and inside of graphene fibers.

The negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy ([Formula: see text]) centre in nanodiamonds (NDs) has been recently studied for applications in cellular imaging due to its better photo-stability and biocompatibility if compared to other fluorophores. Super-resolution imaging achieving 20-nm resolution of [Formula: see text] in NDs has been proved over the years using sub-diffraction limited imaging approaches such as single molecule stochastic localisation microscopy and stimulated emission depletion microscopy. Here we show the first demonstration of ground-state depletion (GSD) nanoscopy of these centres in NDs using three beams, a probe beam, a depletion beam and a reset beam.

By doping molybdenum (Mo) into bismuth oxide (BiO), we synthesized novel BiMoO nanohybrids with a unique tremella-like crystal structure a one-pot hydrothermal method. Such a porous tremella structure of BiMoO possesses a significantly larger surface area than the spherical structure of BiO, which is favorable for the special functionalization and effective immobilization of molecules such as antibodies on the surface of the tremella flaps. As expected, Au nanoparticles grew easily and uniformly outside the surface of the flaps of the as-prepared BiMoO NTs (Au@BiMoO NTs), showing preferable conductivity and biocompatibility, and the anti-carcinoembryonic antigen (anti-CEA) was effectively immobilized outside the obtained Au@BiMoO NTs.

Many studies supported that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) can differentiate into neural cells, but few researchers detected mature and function of nerve cells, especially study. Some researchers even suggested that BM-MSCs transplantation would not be able to differentiate into functional neural cells. To figure out the dispute, this study examined bone marrow-derived sphere-like cells, harvested neural stem cell suspension culture, then identified as bone marrow-derived neural progenitor cells (BM-NPCs) by finding the expression of neural progenitor cells genes and proteins, neural progenitor cells characteristic and nerve cell differentiation induced through both methods.
