Shanghai Center for Systems Biomedicine, Key Laboratory of Systems Biomedicine (Ministry of Education), Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200240, China.

To achieve efficient gene delivery or , nonviral vectors should have excellent biostability across cellular and tissue barriers and also smart stimuli responsiveness toward controlled release of therapeutic genes into the cell nucleus. However, it remains a key challenge to effectively combine the biostability of covalent polymers with the stimuli responsiveness of noncovalent polymers into one nonviral vehicle. In this work, we report the construction of a kind of cationic supramolecular block copolymers (SBCs) through noncovalent polymerization of β-cyclodextrin/azobenzene-terminated pentaethylenehexamine (DMA-Azo-PEHA-β-CD) in aqueous media using β-CD-monosubstituted poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG-β-CD) as a supramolecular initiator.

Nanoscale Res Lett

March 2021

Optical Sciences Centre, Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology, Swinburne University of Technology, PO Box 218, Hawthorn, VIC, 3122, Australia.

The negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy ([Formula: see text]) centre in nanodiamonds (NDs) has been recently studied for applications in cellular imaging due to its better photo-stability and biocompatibility if compared to other fluorophores. Super-resolution imaging achieving 20-nm resolution of [Formula: see text] in NDs has been proved over the years using sub-diffraction limited imaging approaches such as single molecule stochastic localisation microscopy and stimulated emission depletion microscopy. Here we show the first demonstration of ground-state depletion (GSD) nanoscopy of these centres in NDs using three beams, a probe beam, a depletion beam and a reset beam.

By doping molybdenum (Mo) into bismuth oxide (BiO), we synthesized novel BiMoO nanohybrids with a unique tremella-like crystal structure a one-pot hydrothermal method. Such a porous tremella structure of BiMoO possesses a significantly larger surface area than the spherical structure of BiO, which is favorable for the special functionalization and effective immobilization of molecules such as antibodies on the surface of the tremella flaps. As expected, Au nanoparticles grew easily and uniformly outside the surface of the flaps of the as-prepared BiMoO NTs (Au@BiMoO NTs), showing preferable conductivity and biocompatibility, and the anti-carcinoembryonic antigen (anti-CEA) was effectively immobilized outside the obtained Au@BiMoO NTs.

Front Cell Neurosci

March 2020

Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences, Guangdong Provincial Institute of Geriatrics, Guangzhou, China.

Many studies supported that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) can differentiate into neural cells, but few researchers detected mature and function of nerve cells, especially study. Some researchers even suggested that BM-MSCs transplantation would not be able to differentiate into functional neural cells. To figure out the dispute, this study examined bone marrow-derived sphere-like cells, harvested neural stem cell suspension culture, then identified as bone marrow-derived neural progenitor cells (BM-NPCs) by finding the expression of neural progenitor cells genes and proteins, neural progenitor cells characteristic and nerve cell differentiation induced through both methods.
