The Phonological Mismatch Negativity (PMN) is an ERP component said to index the processing of phonological information, and is known to increase in amplitude when phonological expectations are violated. For example, in a context that generates expectation of a certain phoneme, the PMN will become relatively more negative if the phoneme is switched for an alternative. The response is comparable to other temporally-proximate components, insofar as it indicates a neurological response to unexpected auditory input, but remains considered distinct by the field on the basis of its proposed specific sensitivity to phonology.

The 2022 National League for Nursing Vision Statement, Climate Change and Health, identified gaps in nursing education regarding the issue of climate change and its impact on at-risk populations. Our innovative teaching strategy requires nursing students to use clinical judgment to synthesize ideas and communicate the health risks of climate change for population at risk in a brief video or public service announcement. This teaching strategy can prepare nursing students to advocate for population health.

Understanding the basic structure of the oxygen-evolving complex (OEC) in photosystem II (PS-II) and the water oxidation mechanism can aid in the discovery of more efficient and sustainable catalysts for water oxidation. In this context, we present evidence of the formation of a [(TPA)Mn(O)(μ-O)Ce(NO)] () complex (TPA = tris(pyridyl-2-methyl)amine) by adding aqueous ceric ammonium nitrate to an acetonitrile solution of the [(TPA)Mn] () complex. This unique intermediate () was analyzed by using various spectroscopic techniques and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry.

J Meas Phys Behav

January 2024

Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management, Department of Internal Medicine, The University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS, USA.

Portable accelerometers are used to capture physical activity in free-living individuals with the ActiGraph being one of the most widely used device brands in physical activity and health research. Recently, in February 2022, ActiGraph published their activity count algorithm and released a Python package for generating activity counts from raw acceleration data for five generations of ActiGraph devices. The nonproprietary derivation of the ActiGraph count improved the transparency and interpretation of accelerometer device-measured physical activity, but the Python release of the count algorithm does not integrate with packages developed by the physical activity research community using the R Statistical Programming Language.
