Anelloviruses are a group of small, circular, single-stranded DNA viruses that are found ubiquitously across mammalian hosts. Here, we explored a large number of publicly available human microbiome datasets and retrieved a total of 829 anellovirus genomes, substantially expanding the known diversity of these viruses. The majority of new genomes fall within the three major human anellovirus genera: , and , while we also present new genomes of the under-sampled , and genera.

Background: A vast amount of literature is available on the burden of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Yet, most information on AIS burden does not stratify by stroke severity, and the inclusion of mild strokes (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale < 5) might obscure the true impact of moderate-to-severe AIS. Therefore, it is important to understand the literature as it pertains to the epidemiological, clinical, humanistic, and economic burden of moderate-to-severe AIS from a global perspective.

A primary pull-through for Hirschsprung's disease (HD) requires confirmation of normal ganglionic bowel by intraoperative biopsies to determine the level of resection. Despite this, aganglionic bowel that is not fully resected (so-called "transition zone pull-throughs") is reported in 15%-19% of patients. We hypothesize that this may result from insufficient biopsies sent for intraoperative diagnosis.

Abstract: The effects of post-hydration heating over a broad range of temperatures are evident in many Mighei-like carbonaceous (CM) chondrites as a variety of mineral transitions. To better understand these processes and how a CM chondrite's starting composition may have affected them, we experimentally heated two meteorites with different degrees of aqueous alteration, Allan Hills 83100 and Murchison, at 25 °C temperature steps from 200 °C to 950 °C and 300 °C to 750 °C, respectively. During heating, synchrotron in situ X-ray diffraction patterns were collected.

Background: Malaria-endemic countries are increasingly adopting data-driven risk stratification, often at district or higher regional levels, to guide their intervention strategies. The data typically comes from population-level surveys collected by rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), which unfortunately perform poorly in low transmission settings. Here, a high-resolution survey of Plasmodium falciparum prevalence rate (PfPR) was conducted in two Tanzanian districts using rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), microscopy, and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assays, enabling the comparison of fine-scale strata derived from these different diagnostic methods.

High-nuclearity polyoxometalate (POM) clusters are attractive building blocks (BBs) for the synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) due to their high connectivity and inherently multiple metal centers as functional sites. This work demonstrates a strategy of step-wise growth on ring-shaped [PWO] precursor, which produced two new high-nuclearity polyoxotungstates, a half-closed [HPWO] {W} and a fully-closed [HPWO] {W}. By in situ synthesis, unique MOFs of copper triazole-benzoic acid (HL) complexes incorporating the negatively-charged {W} and {W} as nodes, {Cu(HL)W} HNPOMOF-1 and {Cu(HL)W} HNPOMOF-2, were constructed by delicately tuning the reaction conditions, mainly solution pH, which controls the formation of {W} and {W}, and at the same time the protonation of triazole-benzoic acid ligand thus its coordination mode to copper ion that creates the highest nuclearity POM-derived MOFs reported to date.

Assembly theory (AT) aims to distinguish living from non-living systems by explaining and quantifying selection and evolution. The theory proposes that the degree of assembly depends on the number of complex objects, with complexity measured using a combination of the object's assembly index (AI) and its abundance. We previously provided experimental evidence supporting AT's predictive power, finding that abiotic systems do not randomly produce organic molecules with an AI greater than approximately 15 in detectable amounts.

A series of unprecedented supramolecular complexes of covalently modified Anderson-type polyoxometalates (POMs) and α-cyclodextrins (α-CDs) have been obtained and characterized in solid state by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and in aqueous solution using various techniques including H DOSY NMR, 2D NOESY H NMR, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and electrospray ionization time-of-flight mass spectroscopy (ESI-TOF-MS). It has been demonstrated that the supramolecular assembly process could be modulated by different covalent modification modes of the Anderson POMs, giving rise to a new type of POM/α-CD complexes featuring organic-inorganic pseudo-rotaxane structures, which are in good contrast to those of POM/γ-CD complexes of poly-rotaxane structures. Moreover, it is delighted to find that these pseudo-rotaxanes of POM/α-CD complexes exhibit stable chirality in aqueous solution, which has not been accomplished in previously reported POM/CD assemblies.

Group (IV) metal oxo clusters represent a unique family of molecular species that are increasingly being utilized in applications ranging from catalysis and materials chemistry to electronics, and sensors. These clusters exhibit distinctive structural features, chemical reactivity, and electronic structure. Nevertheless, their full potential has yet to be fully realized due to the lack of deeper understanding regarding their structure and formation mechanisms, inherent traits, and intricacies in their design, which could ultimately enable significant customization of their properties and overall behaviour.

Hypothermia during anaesthesia is a significant concern in veterinary practice, as it can lead to various complications, making it essential to understand the factors that contribute to temperature regulation in animals undergoing surgical procedures. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the change in body temperature over the course of anaesthesia in dogs undergoing elective ovariohysterectomy and orchiectomy, and determine the effect of gender, dose of premedication, weight, age and duration of anaesthesia of the change of body temperature over time. One-hundred and ten dogs (n=110) that underwent elective ovariohysterectomy (n=75) and orchiectomy (n=35) surgery performed by veterinary students at the University of Adelaide were enrolled in this study.

The catalytic efficacy of a novel mononuclear rhenium(I) complex in CO reduction is remarkable, with a turnover number (TON) of 1517 in 3 h, significantly outperforming previous Re(I) catalysts. This complex, synthesized via a substitution reaction on an aromatic ring to form a bromo-bipyridine derivative, = 2-bromo-6-(1-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine, and further reacting with [Re(CO)Cl], results in the facial-tricarbonyl complex [ReL1(CO)Cl] (). The light green solid was obtained with an 80% yield and thoroughly characterized using cyclic voltammetry, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy.
