Introduction: The entrance of Generation Z (born 1997-2012) into professional life, including the practice of medicine, marks a transformational shift in priorities and values. This generation, shaped by digital immersion and a strong focus on work-life balance, is redefining the landscape of Plastic Surgery. Their preferences for inclusivity, innovation, and structured working hours challenge traditional models of mentorship, patient care, and surgical training.

The design of total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) systems is rapidly evolving as device companies try to keep pace with the expansion of surgical indications and a refinement of techniques for TAA. Even since the publication of the latest "update," published in 2018, three new designs and three updates on preexisting third-generation implants came onto the market. Improvements in third-generation TAA systems include minimal bone resection, retaining ligamentous support, and anatomic balancing.

Background: A possible explanation for the continued risk of asthma exacerbations while utilizing current asthma guideline-based management is the failure to consider small airway dysfunction (SAD) and eosinophilic airway inflammation in assuming asthma-controlled status.
Objective: To construct a practical algorithm that potentially identifies additional risks of not well-controlled (NWC) asthma and exacerbations beyond guideline criteria with oscillometry and fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FENO) determination.
Methods: This was a retrospective, posthoc analysis of 183 children, ages 4-18 years, with moderate-to-severe asthma, characterized by demographic factors, National Health Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) determined asthma-controlled status, therapy step, and lung function status.

Since early 2020, several SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOCs) continue to emerge, evading waning antibody mediated immunity produced by the current Spike-alone based COVID-19 vaccines. This caused a prolonged and persistent COVID-19 pandemic that is going to enter its fifth year. Thus, the need remains for innovative next generation vaccines that would incorporate protective Spike-derived B-cell epitopes that resist immune evasion.

Unlabelled: Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) is a highly prevalent human pathogen that causes a range of clinical manifestations, including oral and genital herpes, keratitis, encephalitis, and disseminated neonatal disease. Despite its significant health and economic burden, there is currently only a handful of approved antiviral drugs to treat HSV-1 infection. Acyclovir and its analogs are the first-line treatment, but resistance often arises during prolonged treatment periods, such as in immunocompromised patients.

Objectives: Disparity in kidney transplant access has been demonstrated by a disproportionately low rate of kidney transplantation in socioeconomically disadvantaged patients. However, the information is not from national representative populations with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). We aim to examine whether socioeconomic disparity for kidney transplant access exists by utilizing data from the All of Us Research Program.

Purpose: The study aimed to understand how bilingual children with typical language development (TLD) and those with developmental language disorder (DLD) use frequent word co-occurrences in their narratives.
Method: We studied the change over time in the word co-occurrences used by 30 Spanish-English bilingual children with and without DLD (experimental group). An additional normative group consisted of 98 TLD Spanish-English bilingual first graders.

Understanding the normal function of the Huntingtin (HTT) protein is of significance in the design and implementation of therapeutic strategies for Huntington's disease (HD). Expansion of the CAG repeat in the gene, encoding an expanded polyglutamine (polyQ) repeat within the HTT protein, causes HD and may compromise HTT's normal activity contributing to HD pathology. Here, we investigated the previously defined role of HTT in autophagy specifically through studying HTT's association with ubiquitin.

Background: Childhood adversity is associated with chronic pain in adulthood. Additionally, individuals identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ+) report a greater prevalence of chronic pain and increased adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). While the LGTBQ+ community has a disproportionately high chronic disease burden, limited research has been conducted on the associations between chronic pain conditions or intensity and childhood adversity in this population.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has created one of the largest global health crises in almost a century. Although the current rate of Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections has decreased significantly, the long-term outlook of COVID-19 remains a serious cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with the mortality rate still substantially surpassing even that recorded for influenza viruses. The continued emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOCs), including multiple heavily mutated Omicron sub-variants, has prolonged the COVID-19 pandemic and underscores the urgent need for a next-generation vaccine that will protect from multiple SARS-CoV-2 VOCs.

Private equity investment in fertility clinics has rapidly increased and is leading to unprecedented changes in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI). The goal of this paper was to review private equity's current integration in REI and discuss both benefits and challenges of investor involvement. We found that at least 25% of fellowship programs and medical schools were affiliated with private practice fertility clinics, not free-standing academic clinics.

Purpose Of Review: The unattended blood pressure (BP) readings from home blood pressure (HBP) monitoring should provide more accurate BP readings than attended BP obtained from office blood pressure (OBP). Here, we review evidence supporting the clinical utility of HBP and automatic remote monitoring of blood pressure (ARM-BP) in kidney transplant recipients (KTR).
Recent Findings: BP from 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (24-h ABPM) is higher than but better associated with kidney and cardiovascular outcomes compared to OBP and HBP.

Purpose Of Review: There are limited studies on the benefits of low dietary protein intake (DPI) and plant-dominant diets to delay kidney allograft dysfunction. We evaluate evidence regarding the association or effects of the amount and type of DPI on allograft function.
Recent Findings: There is conflicting evidence regarding the benefits of low DPI and plant-dominant diet including PLADO and PLAFOND on kidney allograft function.
