Plastics have become an emerging pollutant threatening the sustainability of agroecosystems and global food security. Biochar, a pro-ecosystem/negative carbon emission technology can be exploited as a circular approach for the conservation of plastics contaminated agricultural soils. However, relatively few studies have focused on the effects of biochar on plant growth and soil biochemical properties in a microplastic contaminated soil.

This work investigated the improvement of amylopectin addition on the quality of myofibrillar proteins (MP) gel damaged by high doses of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG, 80 μM/g protein). The results found that the addition of amylopectin partially alleviated the unfolding of MP induced by oxidation and EGCG, and enhanced the structural stability of MP. Amylopectin blocked the loss of the free amine group and thiol group, and increased the solubility of MP from 7.

Microplastics (MPs) are widely distributed in the marine environment, posing a significant threat to marine biota. The contribution of anthropogenic and terrestrial sources to the aquatic ecosystem has led to an increase in MPs findings, and their abundance in aquatic biota has been reported to be of concern. MPs are formed mainly via photo degradation of macroplastics (large plastic debris), and their release into the environment is a result of the degradation of additives.

Malic acid (MA) is an important flavor acid in fruits and acts as a mediator in a series of metabolic pathways. It is important to understand the factors affecting MA metabolism for fruit flavor improvement and to understand MA-mediated biological processes. However, the metabolic accumulation of MA is controlled by complex heredity and environmental factors, making it difficult to predict and regulate the metabolism of MA.

We aim to investigate the empirical nexus between carbon emissions and financial inclusion for a panel of 74 countries from 2004 to 2020 based on the environment kuznets curve (EKC). Using the advanced panel data analysis framework of Driscoll-Kraay, Generalised linear model, and Prais-Winsten test for the entire sample and heterogeneous subsamples, we document an inverted U-shape relationship between carbon emissions and inclusive financial system. Notably, an inverted U-shape relationship is established in developed, emerging and frontier economies except in standalone economies.

The aim of this study was to find out the genetic polymorphism in β-casein gene CSN2 in Azi-Kheli buffaloes found in district Swat. Blood samples from 250 buffaloes were collected and processed in lab for sequencing to see the genetic polymorphism in CSN2 gene on 67 position of exon7. The β-casein is a milk second abundant protein having some variants, wherein A1 and A2 are the most common.

Auxins regulate several characteristics of plant development and growth. Here, we characterized a new transcriptional activator SIARRI which binds specific DNA sequences and was revealed in Arabidopsis (ARR1). SIARRI acts as a two-component response regulator and its Arabidopsis homologous gene is AT3G16857.

(MP) is one of the most common pathogenic organisms causing upper and lower respiratory tract infections, lung injury, and even death in young children. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play an important role in innate immunity by allowing the host to recognize pathogens invading the body. Previous studies demonstrated that TLR4 is a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of MP pneumonia.

Background: Myosin is the most important component of myofibrillar protein, with excellent gelling properties. To date, heating treatment remains the mainstream method for forming gel in meat products, and it has the most extensive application in the field of meat industry. However, at present, there are few reports on the effects of heating rates on myosin self-assembly and aggregation behavior during heating treatment.

Background: Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) infects many individuals worldwide and causes severe infection in the immunosuppressant recipient, spontaneous abortion, and congenital disabilities in infants.
Objectives: There is no specific vaccine or therapeutics available to protect against LCMV infection; thus, there is a need to design a potential vaccine to combat the virus by developing immunity in the population. Herein, we attempted to design a potent multi-epitope vaccine for LCMV using immunoinformatics methods.

Background: Breast cancer susceptibility is greatly influenced by single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) both in penetrance and non-penetrance genes. The Estrogen Receptor Alfa (ESR1- rs2234693 and rs2046210) have been reported as risk factor of breast cancer in different ethnic groups with inconsistent results. In this study the association of ESR1 (rs2234693 and rs2046210) with breast cancer risk was investigated in patients of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Cadmium as a heavy metal contaminates the agricultural soil and effect plant growth due to rapid increases in industrialization and anthropogenic activities. Smoke water of was used in the current study to alleviate the effect of cadmium on the physiological, biochemical, metabolic, and antioxidant profile of Basmati 385 and Shaheen Basmati seedling. Cadmium stress of 100, 200, and 400 µM were given to 28 days-old seedlings along with smoke water (1:1,000) for one week in hydroponic culture.

Mining activities have serious environmental impacts, thus releasing heavy metals (HMs) such as cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), chromium (Cr), zinc (Zn) and nickel (Ni) into the surrounding environment. The current paper investigated the impacts of mining activities of Pb-Zn sulfide on soil and medicinal plants. Hence, soil samples (n = 36) and medicinal plants (n = 36) samples were collected, acid extracted and were analyzed through Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) for HMs quantification.
