Trans-arterial omental flap protection for infected femoral artery aneurysm in a patient with Parkes-Weber syndrome.

We report a case of a 75-year-old man diagnosed with Parkes-Weber syndrome with an infected common femoral artery aneurysm secondary to chronic venous ulcers and groin infection. Given the symptomatic and rapid enlargement of the aneurysm, emergency aneurysmectomy and crossover femoro-femoral bypass were performed with an omental flap routed intraluminally through the aneurysm of the ipsilateral external iliac artery. The transarterial route enabled the short-cutting of the omental flap and the potential prevention of infection in the adjacent external iliac artery.

Mesoporous materials have garnered significant interest because of their porous structure, large surface area and ease of surface functionalization to incorporate the functional groups of choice. Herein, chiral mesoporous silica nanoparticles (CMSNPs) were prepared using quaternary amino silane as the template, tetramethyl orthosilicate as the silica source and proline and cellulose as chiral selector. Primary intestinal lymphangiectasia (PIL) is a rare protein-losing gastroenteropathy characterized by diffuse or localized ectasia of the enteric lymphatics, which can be accompanied by lymphatic abnormalities in other parts of the body. This condition results in hypoalbuminemia, hypogammaglobulinemia, and lymphopenia due to the abnormal leakage of lymphatic fluid into the gastrointestinal tract. As there are no specific serological or radiological tests available, the gold standard for diagnosing intestinal lymphangiectasia is endoscopic examination with histopathological examination of intestinal biopsy specimens.

In this study, octenyl succinic acid sodium starch (OSAS) decorated with chitosan (CS) of different molecular weights (50-150 kDa) and concentrations (10-30 mg/mL) was used to stabilize an emulsion coencapsulating with vitamin A (V) and vitamin D (V).
