Background: The exosomes contain many important proteins that can be used for early tumor diagnosis or patient prognosis analysis. In this study, we investigated plasma exosome-derived sentrin SUMO-specific protease 1 (SENP1) levels as a prognostic biomarker in patients with osteosarcoma.

Methods: The expression of SENP1 protein in osteosarcoma tissues and adjacent tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC).

The systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) has been revealed to be closely related to the prognosis of a variety of tumors. Whether the dynamic change in SIRI before and after surgery can be used to judge the prognosis of patients after radical gastrectomy has not yet been studied. In this study, the predictive ability of preoperative SIRI and changes in SIRI before and after surgery for the survival rate of gastric cancer patients was evaluated in two independent cohorts.

Background: A higher vitamin D intake improves the prognosis of early stage breast cancer (BC) patients. We hypothesized that vitamin D intake should refer to vitamin D receptor (VDR) expression. In order to prove this hypothesis, we first intend to evaluate the correlation between VDR expression and prognosis of BC patients using meta-analysis.

MicroRNA‑103 modulates tumor progression by targeting KLF7 in non‑small cell lung cancer.

Int J Mol Med

September 2020

Department of Anesthesiology, The Third People's Hospital of Yancheng, Yancheng, Jiangsu 224000, P.R. China.

Numerous studies have identified that microRNAs (miRs) play a crucial role in the tumorigenesis of non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, to the best of our knowledge, the physiological function of miR‑103 in NSCLC is not fully understood. Experiments in the present study revealed that miR‑103 expression was increased in NSCLC cell lines.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is an aggressive type of cancer with high mortality rate in China, largely due to its high invasive and metastatic potential. The purposes of this study are to investigate the potential molecular mechanisms behind the aggressive nature of ESCC and search for new prognostic biomarkers. By employing the quantitative proteomic based strategy, we compared the proteomic profile between three ESCC samples and paired adjacent tissues.

Dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons, which are sensitive to oxidative stress due to their anatomical and structural characteristics, play a complex role in the initiation and progression of diabetic bladder neuropathy. We investigated the hypothesis that the antioxidant and antiapoptotic effects of CGRP may be partly related to the expression of Nrf2 and HO-1, via the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT pathway, thus reducing apoptosis and oxidative stress responses. This study shows that CGRP activates the PI3K/AKT pathway, thereby inducing increased expression of Nrf2 and HO-1 and resulting in the decrease of reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde levels and reduced neuronal apoptosis.

MiR-326: Promising Biomarker for Cancer.

Cancer Manag Res

December 2019

Department of Oncology, The Affiliated Yancheng Hospital of Medicine School of Southeast University, The Third People's Hospital of Yancheng, Yancheng 224001, People's Republic of China.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding and highly conserved RNAs that act in biological processes including cell proliferation, invasion, apoptosis, metabolism, signal transduction, and tumorigenesis. The previously identified miRNA-326 (miR-326) has been reported to participate in cellular apoptosis, tumor growth, cell invasion, embryonic development, immunomodulation, chemotherapy resistance, and oncogenesis. This review presents a detailed overview of what is known about the effects of miR-326 on cell invasion, metastasis, drug resistance, proliferation, apoptosis, and its involvement in signaling pathways.

Background: In recent years, the role of pre-treatment C-reactive protein/albumin ratio (CAR) in prognosis of esophageal cancer (EC) has been investigated by several studies. This meta-analysis aimed to provide a more accurate and objective assessment of the prognostic value of pre-treatment CAR in EC.

Methods: Studies assessing the role of pre-treatment CAR in prognosis of EC were searched from PubMed, Embase and the Cochrane Library (last update by April 16, 2019).

Braz J Cardiovasc Surg

December 2019

Third People's Hospital of Yancheng Department of Cardiology Yancheng China Department of Cardiology, the Third People's Hospital of Yancheng, Yancheng, China.

Atrial fibrillation is a common type of arrhythmia and is an important cause of stroke and heart failure. vitamin D is an emerging risk factor of AF, and is implicated in the pathophysiology of atrial fibrillation. It has been established that this vitamin is extensively involved in the regulation of both the renin angiotensin aldosterone system and the immune system.

To develop a quantum-dot-based multiplexed imaging system for the simultaneous monitoring of Hsf- 1/Hsp70 after heat shock, and to evaluate the effects of combined thermotherapy and leucine deprivation therapy on Hsf-1 inactivation. SCC-25 cells were leucine starved for 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 days following which the cells underwent heat shock at 42°C for 30 min. At 6 h after heat shock, Hsf-1 activation and translocation to the nucleus was observed in cells that were leucine starved for 0, 1 and 2 days, and the synthesis of Hsp70 and Hsf-1 reached their maximum values and had a tendency to gather in the nucleus.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression level of microRNA-4513 (miR-4513) in gastric cancer (GC), and to elucidate the mechanisms underlying its regulation of GC progression. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was performed to measure the expression level of miR-4513 in GC cells. Transfection efficacy of synthetic miRNAs was examined by qRT-PCR.

The SWI/SNF complex is a multimeric chromatin remodeling complex that has vital roles in regulating gene expression and cancer development. However, to date few studies have deeply explored the mechanism of SMARCA2 inactivation. We applied multi-omics analysis to explore the mechanism of SMARCA2 inactivation in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database and performed the dCas9-DNMT3a system to evaluate the role of promoter methylation in SMARCA2 transcriptional regulation.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that have been identified as key endogenous biomolecules that are able to regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. The abnormal expression or function of miRNAs has been demonstrated to be closely related to the occurrence or development of various human diseases, including cancers. Regulation of these abnormal miRNAs thus holds great promise for therapeutic treatments.
