Background: This study aimed to explore the incidence of occult lymph node metastasis (OLM) in clinical TNM (cTNM) small cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients and develop machine learning prediction models using preoperative intratumoral and peritumoral contrast-enhanced CT-based radiomic data.
Methods: By conducting a retrospective analysis involving 242 eligible patients from 4 centeres, we determined the incidence of OLM in cTNM SCLC patients. For each lesion, two ROIs were defined using the gross tumour volume (GTV) and peritumoral volume 15 mm around the tumour (PTV).

Introduction: The occurrence of lung ischemia-reperfusion injury (LIRI) after lung transplantation results in primary graft dysfunction (PGD) in more than 50% of cases, which seriously affects the prognosis of recipients. Currently, donor lung protection is the focus of research on improving graft survival in lung transplant recipients. Dexmedetomidine (Dex) is a widely used general anesthesia adjuvant in clinical practice to alleviate ischemia-reperfusion injury in the lungs, liver, heart, kidneys, and brain.

Low-grade glioma (LGG) is heterogeneous at biological and transcriptomic levels, and it is still controversial for the definition and typing of LGG. Therefore, there is an urgent need for specific and practical molecular signatures for accurate diagnosis, individualized therapy, and prognostic evaluation of LGG. Cell death is essential for maintaining homeostasis, developing and preventing hyperproliferative malignancies.

Background: The incidence of blast lung injury (BLI) has been escalating annually due to military conflicts and industrial accidents. Currently, research into these injuries predominantly uses animal models. Despite the availability of various models, there remains a scarcity of studies focused on monitoring respiratory mechanics post-BLI.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) C677T polymorphism and early neurological deterioration (END) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and any possible interactions between specific MTHFR alleles and traditional risk factors among a Han Chinese cohort.
Methods: 434 AIS patients were consecutively recruited between January 2017 and June 2019, including 129 END and 305 non-END cases. A candidate gene association study design was used to analyze the association between MTHFR gene polymorphism and END risk.

Background: Taurine is considered an immunomodulatory agent. From current reports on clinical studies, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the effects of taurine-enhanced enteral nutrition (EN) on the outcomes of critically ill patients to resolve conflicting evidence in literature.
Methods: Literature from PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, SINOMED, and WanFang databases were retrieved, and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were identified.

Objective: The optimal methods for removing polyps remain controversial especially for polyps ≤10mm. We aim to combine the latest evidence to evaluate and compare the effectiveness and safety of cold snare polypectomy (CSP) and hot snare polypectomy (HSP) in the removal of colorectal polyps ≤10mm in size.
Methods: We performed an extensive search across multiple databases, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science, with the search period ending in April 2023 for randomized controlled trials comparing the effectiveness and/or safety of CSP and HSP for the removal of ≤10mm colorectal polyps.

Background: Recent studies have suggested that the N-terminal fragment of B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) level serve as a significant risk factor for mortality in patients with end-stage renal disease. However, the relationship between NT-proBNP levels and technique failure in peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis (PDAP) remains unclear. This study investigated the relationship between NT-proBNP levels at the onset of PDAP and the risk of technique failure in patients with PDAP.

Background And Aims: Since the global burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is rising rapidly, the study aimed to assess the association of cardiovascular health (CVH) metrics with all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality among individuals with CKD.
Methods And Results: The cohort study included 5834 participants with CKD from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2018. A composite CVH score was calculated based on smoking status, physical activity, body mass index, blood pressure, total cholesterol, diet quality, and glucose control.

Objectives: Codeine, a prodrug used as an opioid agonist, is metabolized to the active product morphine by CYP2D6. This study aimed to establish physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models of codeine and morphine and explore the influence of CYP2D6 genetic polymorphisms on the pharmacokinetics of codeine and morphine.
Methods: An initial PBPK modeling of codeine in healthy adults was established using PK-Sim software and subsequently extrapolated to CYP2D6 phenotype-related PBPK modeling based on the turnover frequency (K) of CYP2D6 for different phenotype populations (UM, EM, IM, and PM).

Background: Insulin resistance (IR) is linked to both the complexity of coronary artery lesions and the prognosis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However, the precise extent of this correlation and its impact on adverse cardiovascular outcomes in ACS patients remain unclear. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the intricate relationship between IR, coronary artery lesion complexity, and the prognosis of ACS through a cohort design analysis.

Phenotypic switching (from contractile to synthetic) of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) is essential in the progression of atherosclerosis. The damaged endothelium in the atherosclerotic artery exposes VSMCs to increased interstitial fluid shear stress (IFSS). However, the precise mechanisms by which increased IFSS influences VSMCs phenotypic switching are unrevealed.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has emerged as the most prevalent chronic liver disease globally. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) represents an extremely progressive form of NAFLD, which, without timely intervention, may progress to cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma. Presently, a definitive comprehension of the pathogenesis of NAFLD/NASH eludes us, and pharmacological interventions targeting NASH specifically remain constrained.

Background: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a prevalent spinal disorder that can potentially influence bone mineral density (BMD), thereby increasing the susceptibility to osteoporosis and fractures. Early identification of reduced bone mass in AIS patients is crucial for clinicians to develop effective preventive strategies against fractures. This study aims to elucidate the correlation between BMD, as measured by quantitative computed tomography (QCT), and various clinical parameters in AIS, including the Cobb angle, vertebral rotation, and the Risser sign.
