Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a chronic and progressive lung disease characterized by extensive alterations of cellular fate and function and excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix, leading to lung tissue scarring and impaired respiratory function. Although our understanding of its pathogenesis has increased, effective treatments remain scarce, and fibrotic progression is a major cause of mortality. Recent research has identified various etiological factors, including genetic predispositions, environmental exposures, and lifestyle factors, which contribute to the onset and progression of PF.

Background: The progression of tumours is related to abnormal phospholipid metabolism. This study is anticipated to present a fresh perspective for disease therapy targets of hepatocarcinoma caused by hepatitis B virus in the future by screening feature genes related to phospholipid metabolism.
Methods: This study analysed GSE121248 to pinpoint differentially expressed genes (DEGs).

Objective: To examine the correlation between Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) levels and the progression of non-target lesion vascular disease following the deployment of Drug-eluting Stents (DES).
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled patients who had undergone successful treatment for CAD with DES and subsequently underwent a coronary angiography follow-up at the Cardiology Department of Tianjin Third Central Hospital from January 2017 to July 2022. The annual change in Gensini Score (GS) was calculated according to two angiographic evaluations in order to assess the progression of non-target lesion vascular disease; a change greater than 1 indicated progression, while a change of 1 or less indicated stability.

Background: With the fast pace of modern life, people have less time for meals, but few studies have examined the association between the habit of fast eating and metabolic diseases.
Objective: Combining the results of the current study and the prior ones, we aimed to investigate the possible relationship between fast eating and the risk of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
Methods: This is a sub-analysis of a multicenter cross-sectional study of 1965 participants investigated the association between fast eating and MASLD in Chinese.

Background: This study aimed to investigate alterations in serum markers [creatine kinase-MB (CKMB), cardiac troponin T (cTnT), myoglobin (Myo), B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), D-dimer (DD), procalcitonin (PCT) and interleukin-6 (IL6)] in early Omicron variant infection and analyzed their correlation with clinical parameters.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of 1,138 mild/asymptomatic cases at Tianjin First Central Hospital, including age, gender, serum markers and nucleic acid test results. Statistical analysis used SPSS software, version 24.

Elderly individuals undergoing surgical procedures are often confronted with the peril of experiencing postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD). Prior research has demonstrated the exacerbating effect of sevoflurane anesthesia on neuroinflammation, which can further deteriorate the condition of POCD in elderly patients. Intermittent fasting (IF) restricts food consumption to a specific time window and has been demonstrated to ameliorate cognitive dysfunction induced by neuropathic inflammation.

Background: Herpes zoster (HZ) typically manifests in the acute phase with distinct blisters and severe neuropathic pain. Remarkably, a subset of patients initially presents with only a mild skin rash and moderate pain that gradually intensifies, following a parabolic pattern. Despite being frequently observed in clinical settings, the underlying causes of this trajectory and its potential connection with post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) remain unclear.

LD4, a novel porphyrin derivative, has attracted much attention for its excellent anti-inflammatory properties. It can promote the healing of colonic mucosa, reduce inflammatory response, regulate oxidative stress, and thus improve ulcerative colitis (UC) symptoms. However, the specific signaling pathways of LD4-PDT involved in UC have not been explored.

Objective: To explore the functional connectivity (FC) characteristics of the episodic memory network (EMN) in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) patients with different levels of executive function (EF).
Methods: This study included 76 participants from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database, comprising 23 healthy controls (HCs) and 53 aMCI patients. Based on EF levels, aMCI patients were categorized into aMCI-highEF and aMCI-lowEF groups.

Purpose: Clinical studies have demonstrated the intricate association between the onset and progression of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and the activation of the inflammatory cascade reaction. This study delves into investigating the causal links between 91 circulating inflammatory proteins (CIPs) and OSA through the application of Mendelian randomization (MR) techniques.
Methods: Utilizing genetic data on OSA sourced from the Finnish Biobank (FinnGen) Genome-wide Association Studies (GWAS) of the European population, alongside summary-level GWAS data of CIPs from 14,824 European participants, we conducted a bidirectional MR study.

Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is considered to be the most common and lethal complication of sepsis. NLR-family pyrin domain-containing-3 (NLRP3) inflammasome plays an important role in host defense against microbial pathogens, and its deregulation may cause coagulation cascade and should be strictly managed. Here, we identified the deubiquitinase YOD1, which played a vital role in regulating coagulation in a NLRP3 inflammasome-dependent manner in sepsis induced by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
