This study aimed to explore PTPN2 expression levels in Hypopharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HPSCC) tissues and their relationship with the clinical characteristics and prognosis of HPSCC patients. PTPN2, a protein tyrosine phosphatase, has recently emerged as a promising target for cancer immunotherapy, and in many previous studies, PTPN2 may have a significant role in the growth, differentiation, metabolism and immune response of head and neck malignant tumors. In this study, PTPN2 expression in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC) and other cancer tissues was analyzed using datasets derived from the Sangerbox database.

Pre-existing of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) poses increased lung cancer risk, yet the molecular mechanisms remain inadequately understood. This study sought to elucidate the potential mechanisms by performing comprehensive analyses of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from patients with PTB, lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC). Microarray assays were employed to analyze the DEGs in PBMCs of these patients.

Mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) deficiency may cause mtDNA depletion syndrome, which manifests as neonatal liver failure or primary ovarian insufficiency, hearing loss, seizures, and intellectual disability. Treatment focusing on symptomatic management, and the clinical prognosis remains poor. Here, we describe a novel case of TFAM mutation presenting with progressive neonatal cholestasis, hypoglycemia and abnormal amino acid profiling.

There is still potential room for improving the effectiveness of standard Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in preventing the onset of depression, achieving full remission, and preventing relapse or recurrence of depression. Standard CBT seems less effective in reducing depressive rumination, a key risk factor leading to the onset and persistence of depression. To improve treatment efficacy for depression, rumination-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (RFCBT) was developed, which was modified from CBT and specifically targeted to manage rumination.

Since Tau aggregation is more closely associated with synaptic loss, neurodegeneration, and cognitive decline than Aβ, the correlation between Tau and cognitive function in AD has gradually gained attention. The posttranslational modifications (PTMs) of Tau are key factors contributing to its pathological changes, which include phosphorylation, acetylation, ubiquitination, glycosylation, glycation, small ubiquitin-like modifier mediated modification (SUMOylation), methylation, succinylation, etc.

Background: The prognostic significance of utilizing both the systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) and pulse pressure (PP) collectively in assessing cardiovascular mortality (CVM) across populations remains to be elucidated.
Methods: Multivariate Cox proportional hazards analysis investigated the SIRI, PP, and CVM association. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves evaluated the predictive performance of the combined SIRI and PP for CVM in the broader demographic.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are capable of differentiating into various cell types and play a crucial role in repairing aging tissues and diseased organs. Aging manifests as a gradual loss of cellular, tissue, and organ function, leading to the progression of pathologies. Exosomes (Exos) are extracellular vesicles secreted by cells, which maintain cellular homeostasis, clear cellular debris, and facilitate communication between cells and organs.

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is an immune-mediated liver disease that currently faces limited treatment options. In its advanced stages, AIH can progress to liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. Recent research has increasingly focused on cell-free therapies, particularly the use of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes (Exos), which have shown promise in treating autoimmune diseases, including AIH.

Sinomenine (SIN), a bioactive isoquinoline alkaloid extracted from the roots and stems of Sinomenium acutum, is efficacious against various chronic pain conditions. Inhibition of microglial activation at the spinal level contributes to the analgesic effects of SIN. Microglial activation in the spinal dorsal horn is key to sensitising neuropathic pain.

Tree shrews (TSs) possess a highly developed visual system. Here, we establish an age-related single-cell RNA sequencing atlas of retina cells from 15 TSs, covering 6 major retina cell classes and 3 glial cell types. An age effect is observed on the cell subset composition and gene expression pattern.

Inflammation is a physiological response of the body to harmful stimuli such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants, involving a series of cellular and molecular events. It is associated with various diseases including neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and atherosclerosis, and is a leading cause of global mortality. Key inflammatory factors, such as Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α), Interleukin-1 (IL-1), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 (MCP-1/CCL2), RANTES (CCL5), and prostaglandins, play central roles in inflammation and disease progression.

Nanomedicine has shown great anticancer potential by disrupting redox homeostasis and increasing the levels of oxidative stress, but the therapeutic effect is limited by factors including the intrinsic self-protection mechanism of tumors. Cancer cell death can be induced by the exploration of different cell death mechanisms, such as apoptosis, pyroptosis, necroptosis, cuproptosis, and ferroptosis. The merging of nanotechnology with biomedicine has provided tremendous opportunities to construct cell death-based nanomedicine for innovative cancer therapy.

Ganglioneuroma (GN) is a rare benign neurogenic tumor that originates from the sympathetic nerves. It is extremely uncommon to find a lesion originating from the mediastinum that occupies the entire left hemithorax. In this report, we present the case of a 48-year-old female patient with a large mediastinal GN who presented with cough, sputum, and wheezing.

The COVID-19 pandemic and large-scale administration of multiple SARS-CoV-2 vaccines have attracted global attention to the short-term and long-term effects on the human immune system. An analysis of the "traces" left by the body's T-cell immune response is needed, especially for the prevention and treatment of breakthrough infections and long COVID-19 and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variant infections. T-cell receptor complementarity determining region 3 (TCR CDR3) repertoire serves as a target molecule for monitoring the effects, mechanisms, and memory of the T-cell response.
