Background: This study determined the predictive value of CRMP4 promoter methylation in prostate tissues collected by core needle biopsies for a postoperative upgrade of Gleason Score (GS) to ≥8 in patients with low-risk PCa.
Method: A retrospective analysis of the clinical data was conducted from 631 patients diagnosed with low-risk PCa by core needle biopsy at multiple centers and then underwent Radical Prostatectomy (RP) from 2014-2019. Specimens were collected by core needle biopsy to detect CRMP4 promoter methylation.

Pulmonary lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (pLELC) is a rare subtype of lung cancer that is associated with the Epstein-Barr virus in Asia. Due to the lack of prospective studies, the best first-line treatment and survival outcomes remain unclear. Herein, This study investigated the efficacy and safety of different treatment regimens for advanced pLELC.

The use of vaccines for cancer therapy is a promising immunotherapeutic strategy that has been shown to be effective against various cancers. Vaccines directly target tumors but their efficacy against glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) remains unclear. Immunotyping that classifies tumor samples is considered to be a biomarker for immunotherapy.

To investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics in the brain and spinal cord of Chinese patients with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibodies associated diseases (MOGAD). Forty nine MOGAD patients with seropositive MOG-IgG and 58 AQP4-IgG positive patients were enrolled in this study. The characteristics of brain and spinal cord MRI were retrospectively analyzed.

Objective: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most prevalent cancers affecting men worldwide. However, the biological functions of circRNAs in PCa are still largely unknown.
Methods: Real-time PCR (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry were performed to characterize the circ-102004 expression in both human PCa tissues and cell lines.

This study aimed to investigate the expression of microRNA (miRNA) 299 and miRNA-7706 in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and to explore their effects on proliferation of SK-HEP-1 HCC cells. Expression of miRNA-299 and miRNA-7706 in tumor tissue (HCC group) and adjacent healthy tissue (>30 mm away from the tumor tissue) of 179 patients with HCC was determined by real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). miR-299 mimics and miR-7706 mimics were transfected into SK-HEP-1 HCC cells by RNA transfection.

Purpose: To explore the effects of conservative surgery for endometriomas on ovarian responsiveness during assisted reproductive technology (ART) and provide reproductive and gynecological doctors with a more reliable reference program for the treatment of endometriomas.
Methods: A literature search was performed by searching the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Science Direct databases. Studies with inter- and intra-patient comparisons of ovarian responses and oocyte quality between operated and unoperated ovaries and that met the inclusion criteria were retrieved, and the data from the outcome measures were extracted and pooled for this meta-analysis.

Uncontrolled Wnt signaling causes leukemia. Inactivation of Wnt antagonists could play an important role in leukemia progression by activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. Wnt inhibitory factor-1 (WIF1) is one of the important Wnt antagonists.

A recent study demonstrated that advanced glycation end products (AGEs) play a role in monocyte infiltration in mesangial areas in diabetic nephropathy. The Ras homolog gene family, member A Rho kinase (RhoA/ROCK) pathway plays a role in regulating cell migration. We hypothesized that the RhoA/ROCK pathway affects adhesion and inflammation in endothelial cells induced by AGEs.

Interleukin (IL)-33 is involved in T helper (Th)2-biased immune responses in mice infected with Schistosoma, but the precise mechanism remains to be elucidated. Herein, we investigated the role of IL-33 and its receptor ST2L in hepatic granuloma pathology induced by Schistosoma japonicum infection. We found that IL-33 induced the increased production of IL-5 and IL-13 from splenocytes and liver mononuclear cells (MNCs) of infected mice.

MicroRNAs exert their functions by mainly regulating coding genes or long non-coding RNA expression. In the present study, we reported that hsa-miR-1 was down-regulated in breast cancer tissues. Restoration of miR-1 in breast cancer cells inhibited proliferation, motility and increased apoptosis in vitro.

Objective: To explore the magnetic resonance spectroscopy characteristics of lenticular nucleus in Bipolar II disorder and its relation with cognitive function.
Methods: Thirty Bipolar II disorder patients in hospital from 2012 September to 2013 April and twenty healthy controls were evaluated with Multi-Voxel 1H-MRS scans on lenticular nucleus to assess the NAA, Cho, Cr and MI. All subjects were assessed for attention using the Stroop Test and executive function by Wisconsin card sorting test.

Hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) is a rapidly progressing and frequently fatal condition. The aim of this study was to determine whether interleukin- (IL-) 33 and soluble ST2 (sST2) were associated with disease severity and mortality in HBV-ACLF. We found that plasma levels of sST2 but not IL-33 were higher in HBV-ACLF patients compared with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients and healthy controls.

A recent study revealed that quantitative hepatitis B core antibody (qAnti-HBc) level could serve as a novel marker for predicting treatment response. In the present study, we further investigated the predictive value of qAnti-HBc level in HBeAg-positive patients undergoing PEG-IFN therapy. A total of 140 HBeAg-positive patients who underwent PEG-IFN therapy for 48 weeks and follow-up for 24 weeks were enrolled in this study.

Dried blood spot samples (DBSS) on filter paper offer several advantages compared to conventional serum/plasma samples: they do not require any phlebotomy or separation of blood by centrifugation; they are less invasive; they allow sample stability and shipment at room temperature; and they pose a negligible risk of infection with blood-borne viruses, such as HIV, HBV and HCV, to those who handle them. Therefore dried blood spot samples (DBSS) on filter paper can be a quick, convenient and inexpensive means of obtaining blood samples for biomarker discovery, disease screening, diagnosis and treatment monitoring in non-hospitalized, public health settings. In this study, we investigated for the first time the potential application of dried blood spot samples (DBSS) in protein expression profiling using antibody array technology.

The oncoprotein inhibitory member of the ASPP family (iASPP) is a key inhibitor of the p53 tumor suppressor and is upregulated in patients with acute leukemia and breast carcinoma. To investigate the effect of iASPP inhibition on the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma cells, a recombinant lentivirus vector expressing a small interfering RNA (siRNA) against iASPP gene expression was constructed and used to infect human hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HepG2 and Hep3B). The results showed that iASPP mRNA and protein levels were significantly down-regulated in both cells infected with the siRNA against iASPP.
