December 2024

Department of Gynecology, Yunnan Cancer Hospital, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Peking University Cancer Hospital Yunnan, Kunming, 650118, Yunnan, P. R. China.

New treatment strategies for ovarian cancer, which is the deadliest female reproductive tract malignancy, are urgently needed. Here, we investigated the anticancer effects of fenbendazole (FBZ), a benzimidazole compound, on the regulation of apoptosis and mitotic catastrophe in A2780 and SKOV3 human epithelial ovarian cancer cells. Functional experiments, including Cell Counting Kit 8 (CCK-8), colony formation, and flow cytometry assays, were conducted to explore the effects of FBZ on the malignant biological behavior of A2780 and SKOV3 cells.

Immediate breast reconstruction provides breast cancer patients with a valuable opportunity to restore breast shape. However, post-reconstruction breast asymmetry remains a common issue that affects patient satisfaction. This study aims to quantify breast asymmetry after surgery using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and assess its impact on both breast satisfaction and overall outcome satisfaction, offering scientific evidence to guide improvements in preoperative evaluation.

Observed Effects on Very Early Pregnancy Linked to Ambient PM Exposure in China among Women Undergoing Fertilization-Embryo Transfer.

Environ Health (Wash)

December 2024

Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Peking University, Beijing 100191, China.

The adverse effect of ambient PM exposure on very early pregnancy (VEP) remains controversial among epidemiological studies but is supported by toxicological evidence. We adopted a multicenter retrospective cohort of 141,040 cycles to evaluate the effect of PM exposure on the VEP using the fertilization and embryo transfer platform and high-resolution PM data in China. We first investigated the association between PM exposure 1 week before and 1 week after the embryo transfer date and VEP.

A Systematic Method to Detect Next-Generation Sequencing-Based Microsatellite Instability in Plasma Cell-Free DNA: plasmaMSI.

J Mol Diagn

January 2025

Kunming Medical University, Kunming, China; Department of Colorectal Surgery, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Yunnan Cancer Hospital, Kunming, China. Electronic address:

Microsatellite instability (MSI) detection using tumor tissue is a well-established prognostic and predictive biomarker for certain types of cancers. However, tumor tissue samples are less convenient to obtain than blood plasma samples. The main challenge facing next-generation sequencing-based MSI detection in blood plasma samples is the ultralow signal/noise ratio in plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA).

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a major subtype of lung cancer and poses a serious threat to human health. Due to the advances in lung cancer screening, more and more clinical T1 NSCLC defined as a tumor with a maximum diameter of 3cm surrounded by lung tissue or visceral pleura have been detected and have achieved favorable treatment outcomes, greatly improving the prognosis of NSCLC patients. However, the preoperative lymph node staging and intraoperative lymph node dissection patterns of operable clinical T1 NSCLC are still subject to much disagreement, as well as the heterogeneity between primary tumors and metastatic lymph nodes poses a challenge in designing effective treatment strategies.

Objective: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) presents a therapeutic challenge due to its aggressiveness and poor survival rates. This study introduces an approach using tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2 (TIMP2)-enriched bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (BMSC-Exo) encapsulated in chitosan hydrogels (CS), intending to provide novel insight into the CCA treatment.

Methods: BMSC-Exo was characterized by using TEM, nanoparticle tracking analysis, and western blotting.

Hypertension is a common disease; however, it is more prevalent in older adults, and its prevalence is increasing in younger populations. Numerous studies have revealed that hypertension and the composition and functionality of the intestinal flora are closely correlated. The balance of the intestinal flora, intestinal barrier integrity, and metabolite content of the intestinal flora play significant roles in the occurrence and progression of hypertension.

SWI/SNF (Switch/Sucrose non-fermentable, switch/sucrose non-fermentable) chromatin remodeling complex is a macromolecular complex composed of multiple subunits. It can use the energy generated by the hydrolysis of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) to destroy the connection between DNA and histones, achieve the breakdown of nucleosomes, and regulate gene expression. SWI/SNF complex is essential for cell proliferation and differentiation, and the abnormal function of its subunits is closely related to tumorigenesis.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Positive deficiency and cancer toxicity are the main pathogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC) lung metastasis. Yanghe decoction (YHD), a traditional Chinese medicine, has the effects of warming yang, tonifying blood, dispersing cold and clearing stagnation, adopting a treatment method that combines supporting the right and dispelling the wrong, which has remarkable efficacy in anti-tumor.Although, its precise mechanism of inhibiting the metastasis of colorectal cancer to the lung is still poorly understood.
