Enzyme-loaded manganese-porphyrin metal-organic nanoframeworks for oxygen-evolving photodynamic therapy of hypoxic cells.

Heliyon

July 2024

Department of Hematology and Oncology, Wenzhou Medical University affiliated Huangyan Hospital, The First People's Hospital of Taizhou, People's Republic of China.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is attracting great attention for cancer treatments, while its therapeutic efficacy is limited by unsatisfactory photosensitizers and hypoxic tumor microenvironment (TME). To address these problems, we have developed catalase-loaded manganese-porphyrin frameworks (CAT@MnPFs) for catalytically-assisted PDT of cancer cells. CAT@MnPFs were constructed by the assembly of Mn ions and PpIX into MnPFs and the subsequent loading of catalase.

The role of mip in the development of lens in zebrafish.

Gene Expr Patterns

September 2023

Department of Ophthalmology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, 150081, Harbin, China. Electronic address:

Major intrinsic protein (MIP) functions as a water channel and a cell-junction molecule in the vertebrate eye lens. The pathogenic mechanism behind the loss of MIP function in the lens, which leads to degraded optical quality and cataract formation, is still unclear. In this study, a zebrafish model with the mipb mutant was produced.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the predominant form of lung cancer and is one of the most fatal cancers worldwide. Recently, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) proposed a novel grading system based on the predominant and high-grade histological patterns for invasive pulmonary adenocarcinoma (IPA). To improve outcomes for NSCLC patients, we combined serum metabolomics and fecal microbiology to screen biomarkers in patients with early-stage NSCLC and identified characteristic microbial profiles in patients with different grades of IPA.

iASPP suppression mediates terminal UPR and improves BRAF-inhibitor sensitivity of colon cancers.

Cell Death Differ

February 2023

School of Life Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, 150001, China.

Unfolded protein response (UPR) signaling is activated under endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, an emerging cancer hallmark, leading to either adaptive survival or cell death, while the mechanisms underlying adaptation-death switch remain poorly understood. Here, we examined whether oncogene iASPP regulates the switch and how the mechanisms can be used in colon cancer treatment. iASPP is downregulated when cells undergo transition from adaptation to death during therapy-induced ER stress.
