Intrathecal drug delivery systems (IDDS) is a crucial for treating refractory cancer pain, but their effectiveness in patients with pain across multiple spinal segments is limited by the localized spread of pain relief medication. Our team innovatively implanted double-catheter IDDS to manage pain related to neck and abdominal cancer. While this may represent a new solution, the efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness remain unclear.

Objective: The efficacy of drug therapies in managing neuropathic pain is constrained by their limited effectiveness and potential for adverse effects. In contrast, exercise has emerged as a promising alternative for pain relief. In this study, we conducted a systematic evaluation of the therapeutic impact of exercise on neuropathic pain resulting from sciatic nerve injury in rodent models.

Background: Osteoporosis and sarcopenia are common age-related conditions characterized by the progressive loss of bone density and muscle mass, respectively. Their co-occurrence, often referred to as osteosarcopenia, presents significant challenges in elderly care due to increased fragility and functional impairment. Existing studies have identified shared pathological mechanisms between these conditions, including inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and metabolic dysregulation, but a comprehensive understanding of their molecular interplay remains incomplete.

The objective of this study was to explore the role of ferroptosis in the formation of calcium oxalate (CaOx) kidney stones and the regulatory mechanism of the ankyrin repeat domain 1 (ANKRD1) gene. The study found that the Nrf2/HO-1 and p53/SLC7A11 signaling pathways were activated in the kidney stone model group, and the expression of the ferroptosis marker proteins SLC7A11 and GPX4 was significantly reduced, while the expression of ACSL4 was significantly increased. The expression of the iron transport-related proteins CP and TF increased significantly, and Fe accumulated in the cell.

We investigated the potential role of miR-490-3p in ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury. We first determined the expression of miR-490-3p and autophagy-related 4B cysteine (ATG4B) in IR. Then, to explore whether miR-490-3p would affect autophagy, apoptosis, and IR injury, we evaluated apoptosis, autophagy, and infarct size via gain- and loss-of-function experiments.

Background: Red cell distribution width (RDW) and mean platelet volume (MPV) are considered to be associated with tumors. We investigated the diagnostic value of RDW, MPV, and cancer antigen 125 (CA125), alone or in combination, in the diagnosis of endometrial cancer and endometrial hyperplasia.
Methods: This study included 144 patients with endometrial cancer (stage I: 32; II: 42; III: 48; and IV: 22), 104 patients with endometrial hyperplasia, and 80 healthy control subjects.

Traditional Chinese medicine has been reported to influence the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells (NSCs) that may be protective against nervous system diseases. Recent evidence indicates the importance of musk ketone in nerve recovery and preventing secondary damage after cerebral ischemic injury. A middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rat model was established by a transient filament model, and rats were treated with musk ketone (0.

Objective: Asthma is a chronic immune disease that has become a serious public health problem. The currently available medications are not ideal because of their limitations and side effects; hence, new target proteins and signaling cascades for precise and safe therapy treatment are needed. This work established an ovalbumin-induced asthma rat model and treated it with total flavonoid extract from the Xinjiang chamomile.

Autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) astrocytopathy, a newly defined autoimmune encephalitis, is an antibody-mediated meningoencephalomyelitis. The pathogenesis of the disease is still unclear. Nod-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is a complex composed of a variety of proteins that recognizes a variety of ligands and ultimately leads to the development of inflammatory responses.

WNT16 is one of the 19 members of the human Wnt gene family, and it plays a positive role in lymphocyte proliferation. We investigated the possible association of WNT16 rs3801385 and rs2707466 with the CD4 T cell count among the HIV-infected population in Guangxi, China. A total of 93 HIV-1-infected patients aged 20-75 years were separated into a CD4 T cell count ≥200/mm group (60 cases) and a <200/mm group (33 cases), and 76 healthy subjects were selected as the control group.

Background: Postoperative pain (POP) is a severe acute pain encountered in patients suffering from an operation, and is less than adequately controlled by the currently available analgesics. Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) has been reported to have an important role in neuropathic and inflammatory pain. Our previous research revealed that pre-surgical inhibition of spinal PI3K alleviated the pain behavior induced by plantar incision in mice.

The aberrant expression of lncRNAs has been inferred to be closely related with the progression of neural ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. RMRP is an lncRNA associated with I/R injury. In order to determine the role of RMRP in I/R injury, the effects of RMRP knockdown on oxygen-glucose deprivation/re-oxygenation (OGD/R)-induced injury in SH-SY5Y cells were evaluated.

Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are the predominant residents in the breast tumor microenvironment. In our work, we found activation of DNA damage-independent ATM (oxidized ATM), enhanced glycolysis and aberrant metabolism-associated gene expressions in breast CAFs. Nevertheless, whether and how oxidized ATM regulates the glycolytic activity of CAFs keep in unveil.

Background: Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a severe complication for dialysis patients. Vitamin D receptor activators (VDRAs) are used to treat SHPT, but the comparative efficacy and safety between paricalcitol and other vitamin D receptor activators for management of SHPT in dialysis patients has been unproven.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library for the time period through June 2017 to identify randomized controlled trials that evaluated paricalcitol compared with other VDRAs for treatment of SHPT.

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a type of breast cancer where the tumor cells are negative for the estrogen, progesterone and human epidermal growth factor 2 receptors. To date, expression profiling of microRNA (miRNA/miR) and mRNA sequences have been widely applied for the diagnosis of TNBC. In the present study, an integrated analysis of miRNA‑mRNA profiling arrays was performed.

Introduction: Breast-cancer-related upper extremity lymphoedema (BCUL), a common complication of mastectomy, can cause physical discomfort, psychological distress, cosmetic defects, functional disability and chronic recurrent erysipelas in the affected arm(s). It is a challenge to physicians involved in the management of these patients. Wuling San, a classic prescription in Traditional Chinese Medicine used in treating oedema for thousands of years, is reported by many Chinese journals to perform well in BCUL.

Purpose: Other studies have shown that levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in breast ductal secretions (BDS) differ significantly between breast cancer (BC) patients and healthy individuals, providing direct evidence for CEA in BDS as a promising biomarker for BC. This meta-analysis was designed to assess the potential diagnostic value of CEA in BDS.
Methods: Relevant articles were retrieved from Embase, Pubmed, and the Cochrane Library.

Purpose: Many studies have reported that carbohydrate antigen 153 (CA153) in breast secretions (BS) can discriminate breast cancer (BC) patients from healthy individuals, indicating CA153 in BS as a potential index for BC. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the actual diagnostic value of CA153 in BS.
Methods: Related papers were obtained from Pubmed, Embase, Scopus, Ovid, Sciverse, the Cochrane library, Chinese Biomedical literature Database (CBM), Technology of Chongqing (VIP), Wan Fang Data, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI).
