Tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA can activate farnesoid X receptor (FXR) to involve in the formation of gallstones. Here, this study aimed to probe the potential mechanism of TUDCA-FXR network in the formation of bile duct stone. The levels of TUDCA, FXR and NCK1 were decreased, while the level of miR-107 was increased in the serum of bile duct stone patients.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious airborne communicable disease caused by organisms of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) complex. Although the standard treatment antimicrobials, including isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol, have made great progress in the treatment of TB, problems including the rising incidence of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB), the severe toxicity and side effects of antimicrobials, and the low immunity of TB patients have become the bottlenecks of the current TB treatments. Therefore, both safe and effective new strategies to prevent and treat TB have become a top priority.

Objective: The outcome of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is influenced not only by the choice of treatment but also by various baseline characteristics. The main objective of this study is to identify the risk factors that can affect the prognosis of CSDH and develop a regression equation based on these risk factors.
Methods: A total of 212 patients with CSDH were included in the study.

Aims to investigate the relationship between nutritional biochemical indexes and hospitalization outcomes of COVID-19 patients, 132 continuous patients with COVID-19 from December 2022 to January 2023 in Lishui hospital were retrospectively analyzed, and the nutritional biochemical indexes in peripheral blood, such as total protein, albumin, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, were detected. Meanwhile, the levels of several cytokines and PBMC subtypes (CD4, CD3, CD8, NK and B cells) were detected too. The Spearman correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA and multivariate logit regression were conducted.

Breast cancer (BC) is the fourth most prevalent cancer in China. Despite conventional treatment strategies, BC patients often have poor therapeutic outcomes, leading to significant global cancer mortality rates. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-based immunotherapy is a promising and innovative approach for cancer treatment that redirects immune cells to attack tumor cells expressing selected tumor antigens (TAs).

Purpose: Diagnosis of acute isolated brainstem infarction is challenging owing to non-specific, variable symptoms, and the effectiveness of non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) is poor owing to limited spatial resolution and artifacts. Computed tomography perfusion (CTP) imaging parameters are significantly associated with functional outcomes in posterior circulation acute ischemic stroke; however, the role of CTP in isolated brainstem infarction remains unclear. We aimed to determine the value of CTP imaging parameters in predicting functional outcomes for affected patients.

Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is an inherited skeletal muscle disorder caused primarily by a genetic mutation, usually in the calcium channel gene of the muscle. This mutation can lead to muscle hypersensitivity to volatile anesthetics (such as sevoflurane) and the depolarizing muscle relaxant succinylcholine, resulting in hyperthermia, muscle stiffness, metabolic disturbances, and other severe physiological reactions. This condition may prove fatal unless it is recognized in its early stages and treatment is administered promptly and aggressively.

Skin wound healing is a dynamic and complex process that involves multiple physiological and cellular events. Grape seed proanthocyanidins (GSP) have strong anti-oxidation and elimination of oxygen free radicals, and have been shown to significantly promote wound healing, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Studies have indicated that reactive oxygen species (ROS) acts as an upstream signal to induce mitophagy, suggesting that GSP can regulate mitophagy through the signal pathway.

Artemether-lumefantrine is an artemisinin-based combination therapy for the treatment of malaria, which are primarily metabolized by cytochrome P450 3A4. Therapeutic difference caused by gene polymorphisms of CYP3A4 may lead to uncertain adverse side effects or treatment failure. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of CYP3A4 gene polymorphism on artemether-lumefantrine metabolism in vitro.

Radiotherapy (RT) is the mainstay treatment modality for lung cancer. We recently reported that conventionally fractionated radiotherapy (CRT) with daily fractionation of 2Gy significantly increased the activity of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO1), a known immune checkpoint, which predicted poorer long-term survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), while stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) using fractionation size of 10Gy did not increase IDO1 activity and had better survival. Here we hypothesized that the hypofractionated SBRT kind of dose fraction stimulates host antitumor immunity via downregulating IDO1 in which CRT could not.

Enzyme-driven micro/nanomotors consuming chemical fuels have attracted lots of attention for biomedical applications. However, motor systems composed by organism-derived organics that maximize the therapeutic efficacy of enzymatic products remain challenging. Herein, swimming proteomotors based on biocompatible urease and human serum albumin are constructed for enhanced antitumor therapy active motion and ammonia amplification.
