Objective: This study aims to assess the diagnostic efficacy of a combined approach integrating chromosomal karyotyping, copy number variation sequencing (CNV-seq), and quantitative fluorescence polymerase chain reaction (QF-PCR) in detecting chromosomal abnormalities in high-risk pregnancies.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 617 high-risk pregnancies undergoing prenatal diagnosis from February 2023 to August 2024, with amniotic fluid samples concurrently analyzed using karyotyping, CNV-seq, and QF-PCR. We evaluated clinical characteristics, diagnostic yields, and inter-method concordance rates.

Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is a prevalent clinical condition primarily attributed to dysfunction within various components of the auditory pathway, spanning from the inner ear to the auditory cortex. Recent research has illuminated immune and inflammation-mediated disorders of the inner ear as critical contributors to SNHL. Disruptions in the equilibrium of inflammatory mediators, chemokines, the complement system, and inflammatory vesicles within the cochlea provoke aberrations in immune cell activity, fostering a chronic pro-inflammatory milieu that detrimentally affects the structural and functional integrity of the inner ear, culminating in hearing impairment.

Machine learning constructs a diagnostic prediction model for calculous pyonephrosis.

In order to provide decision-making support for the auxiliary diagnosis and individualized treatment of calculous pyonephrosis, the study aims to analyze the clinical features of the condition, investigate its risk factors, and develop a prediction model of the condition using machine learning techniques. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 268 patients with calculous renal pelvic effusion who underwent ultrasonography-guided percutaneous renal puncture and drainage in our hospital during January 2018 to December 2022. The patients were included into two groups, one for pyonephrosis and the other for hydronephrosis.

This study conducted a bibliometric analysis using the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) to explore the relationship between diabetes mellitus and bariatric surgery (BS) from January 1985 to August 2023. No publications were found between 1985 and 1998. However, from 1998 to 2023, a total of 9,496 English articles were identified, accumulating 291,289 citations (241,563 excluding self-citations) and achieving an H-Index of 197.

Targeting ferroptosis: New perspectives of Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment of diabetes and its complications.

Ferroptosis is a non-apoptotic mode of cell death. A large number of studies have confirmed that ferroptosis plays a vital role in the occurrence and development of diabetes and diabetic complications. Previous studies have found that Chinese herbal medicines have very promising results in the prevention and treatment of diabetes and diabetic complications, and some of these herbs or herbal natural compounds may act via the inhibition of ferroptosis.

Systemic lupus erythematosus and antineutrocytic cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis overlap syndrome presenting mainly with alveolar hemorrhage: A case report and literature review.

Rationale: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) are 2 different diseases that can manifest in the same person, which are known as SLE/AAV overlap syndrome. This overlap syndrome is difficult to diagnose, a high rate of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis, and a poor prognosis.

Background: The etiology and pathophysiological mechanisms of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) remain unclear, but it is generally believed to be associated with viral infections, vascular diseases, and autoimmune disorders. Considering that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is promising candidates for SSNHL, we studied the immune cells changes by COVID-19 in patients with SSNHL.

Methods: This was a prospective, single-center, open label, randomized clinical trial that enrolled locally advanced cervical cancer patients. Participants were randomized to the Tc sulfur colloid SPECT-defined ABMS VMAT (ABMS group) or control group, who received weekly cisplatin concurrently with VMAT followed by high-dose-rate intracavitary brachytherapy.

Pyroptosis is an inflammatory form of programmed cell death that is dependent on inflammatory caspases, leading to the cleavage of gasdermin D (GSDMD) and increased secretion of interleukin (IL)-1 and IL-18. Recent studies have reported that hyperglycemia-induced cellular stress stimulates pyroptosis, and different signaling pathways have been shown to play crucial roles in regulating pyroptosis. This review summarized and discussed the molecular mechanisms, regulation, and cellular effects of pyroptosis in diabetic microvascular complications, such as diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinopathy, and diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Background And Aims: With changes in dietary patterns and modern lifestyles, the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-associated hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients is increasing. The purpose of our study is to explore the impact of MetS on the prognosis of HBV-associated HCC patients following radical hepatectomy.

Methods: Data on consecutive HCC patients who underwent radical hepatectomy were prospectively obtained and retrospectively analyzed from seven medical centers in west areas of China.
