Correlation between serum miR-154-5p and urinary albumin excretion rates in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a cross-sectional cohort study.

This study aimed to investigate the correlation between serum miR-154-5p and urinary albumin to creatinine ratio (UACR) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and the association with biomarkers of inflammation and fibrosis in diabetic kidney disease (DKD). A total of 390 patients with T2DM were divided into three groups: normal albuminuria (UACR < 30 mg/g, n = 136, NA), microalbuminuria (UACR at 30-300 mg/g, n = 132, MA), and clinical albuminuria (UACR > 300 mg/g, n = 122, CA). Circulating miR-154-5p, inflammatory (C-reactive protein (CRP); erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR); and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and fibrotic markers (vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF); transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1); and fibronectin (FN)), and other biochemical indicators were assessed via real-time PCR, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and chemiluminescence assay in patients with T2DM and 138 control subjects (NC).

[Comparison between gene therapy and gradual release carrier for bone morphogenetic protein-2 in repairing bone defects].

To compare the effects between gene therapy and gradual release carrier for bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) in repairing bone defects, bone defects for 15 mm were created.on the bilateral radius in rabbits and treated with four kinds of implantations, ie, composite of transgeneic MSCs and PLA/PCL (Group A), composite of MSCs and gradual release carrier for BMP-2 (Group B), composite of MSCs and PLA/PCL (Group C), and PLA/PCL alone (Group D). After 4, 8, and 12 weeks of the operations, X-ray, histological examination, biomechanics analysis, and bone density measurement were conducted.

Methods: One hundred and twenty-three patients with a T tube after cholecystectomy and choledochotomy were divided into reflux group and control group by measuring the amounts of radioactivity of (99m)Tc-DTPA in the bile. Among them 53 were selected randomly to undergo choledochoscopic manometry.

Objective: To investigate the anti-proliferation effect of tyrosine protein kinase inhibitor, Genistein, on human salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma cell line SACC-83, and its effect on Survivin expression.

Methods: SACC-83 cells were treated with different concentration Genistein for different time, cell survival rate was calculated with MTT assay, apoptosis was detected with flow cytometry, the expression of Survivin was quantitatively analyzed by Western blotting and FluorChem V2.0 software.

Potential of diffusion tensor MRI in the assessment of periventricular leukomalacia.

Aim: To investigate magnetic resonance (MR) diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and fibre tractography in the assessment of altered major white matter (WM) fibre tracts in periventricular leukomalacia (PVL).

Materials And Methods: Twelve children (male:female = 7:5, age range 3-10 years; mean age = 6.5 years) who had suffered PVL were included in this study.

Objective: To study the effect of direct bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) gene therapy mediated by adenovirus on repairing bone defect.

Methods: The radial defect models were made on 60 rabbits, which were evenly divided into 4 groups randomly. The 4 groups were treated with different materials: group A, adenovirus carrying BMP-2 gene (Ad-BMP-2) plus bovine cancellous bone (BCB); group B, reconstructed BMP-2 plus BCB; group C, Ad-Lacz plus BCB; and group D, only BCB scaffolds.

Methods: The expression of EMMPRIN was studied with immunohistochemistry in normal pregnancy.

Results: The expression of EMMPRIN was obvious, and appeared mainly on membrane of cytotrophoblast, syncytiotrophoblast, cytotrophoblast column of the villi of gestational weeks 6 to 9, mid-term and term placenta and extravillous cytotrophoblast of deciduas of mid-term and term placenta.

Submucous colon lipoma: a case report and review of the literature.

Colon lipoma is remarkably rare in clinical practice. We reported a case of ascending colon lipoma in an 83-year-old woman. She was asymptomatic with a lipoma of 35 mm x 30 mm x 24 mm in size which was found by routine colonoscopy.

[Isolation and culture of multipotent mesenchymal stem cells from porcine bone marrow].

Objective: To establish a method for the isolation of porcine mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from bone marrow and to demonstrate their differentiation ex vivo into various mesenchymal tissue cells.

Methods: MSCs were isolated from bone marrow and purified by centrifuge and in vitro. The proliferation and growth characteristics were observed in primary and passage culture.
