Background: A first-in-human study of [F]-BF3-Cy3-ACUPA, a small-molecule imaging agent that can be unimolecularly both positron emitting and fluorescent, is conducted to determine its safety, biodistribution, radiation dosimetry, feasibility in tumor detection by preoperative positron emission tomography (PET), as well as its intraoperative fluorescence imaging utility in patients with prostate-specific membrane antigen positive (PSMA) tumors.

Methods: Ten patients aged 66 ± 7 years received a 6.5 ± 3.

A label-free fluorescence method based on self-assembled DNA nanopompom has been developed for miRNA-21 detection. In the presence of miRNA-21, three DNA hairpin probes with split G-quadruplex assemble the DNA nanopompom. Based on the isothermal toehold-mediated DNA strand displacement reaction, the target miRNA can be catalytically recycled and trigger three DNA hairpin probes to self-assemble the DNA nanopompom and release the G-quadruplex.

Long-term, in vivo, fluorescent cell tracking probes are useful for understanding complex cellular processes including tissue regeneration, communication, development, invasion, and cancer metastasis. A near-infrared fluorescent, water-soluble probe is particularly important for studying these biological events and processes. Herein, a lysosome specific, near-infrared Bodipy probe with increased fluorescent intensity in the acidic, lysosome environment is reported.

Current guidelines recommend temporary cessation of clopidogrel for 7-10 days for patients on clopidogrel undergoing colonoscopy with polypectomy. However, recent prospective randomized controlled trials have advocated for uninterrupted clopidogrel, due to similar post-polypectomy bleeding (PPB) rates with and without continued clopidogrel therapy. Thus, a meta-analysis was conducted to assess the risk of PPB rate in patients on continued clopidogrel therapy.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most lethal malignancies worldwide due to its ineffective diagnosis and poor prognosis. It is essential to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in PDAC to gain new insights into its underlying molecular mechanisms, as well as identify potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets. We screened 135 DEGs from the GSE15417, GSE16515, and GSE28735 PDAC and normal pancreatic tissue microarray data sets, and identified 16 DEGs that were correlated with PDAC prognosis through the Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and log-rank tests.

Background: Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) is a promising therapeutic modality for esophageal achalasia worldwide. However, clinical failure and adverse events of POEM have still been concerned.

Aim: To compare the efficacy and safety of a novel mark-guided POEM with standard POEM.

Background And Aim: Additional simethicone (SIM) can improve adequate bowel preparation and adenoma detection rate (ADR). However, there is no consensus on the optimal dose of SIM. In this study, we compared the adequate bowel preparation rate with supplementation of split-dose 2 L polyethylene glycol (PEG) with low-dose SIM (200 mg) versus high-dose SIM (1200 mg).

Small ultra-red fluorescent protein nanoparticles as exogenous probes for noninvasive tumor imaging in vivo.

Department of Radiology, Weill Cornell Medicine, New York, NY 10065, USA.. Electronic address:

Nanoparticles are excellent imaging agents for cancer, but variability in chemical structure, racemic mixtures, and addition of heavy metals hinders FDA approval in the United States. We developed a small ultra-red fluorescent protein, named smURFP, to have optical properties similar to the small-molecule Cy5, a heptamethine subclass of cyanine dyes (Ex/Em = 642/670 nm). smURFP has a fluorescence quantum yield of 18% and expresses so well in E.

Background: endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)-guided biliary drainage (ERCP-BD) with transpapillary stent placement is the standard palliative treatment for malignant distal biliary obstruction. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage (EUS-BD) has been evaluated for efficacy and safety as an alternative for failed ERCP.

Purpose: we aimed to determine whether ERCP-BD or EUS-BD is the preferred treatment modality for decompressing malignant distal biliary obstruction.

The case was a 47-year-old male with a long history of alcohol abuse but he had stopped drinking alcohol after the first attack of acute pancreatitis. He was referred due to recurrent pancreatitis complicated by pancreatic pseudocysts. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) imaging was suggestive of chronic pancreatitis and pancreatolithiasis, with multiple large pseudocysts in the head and tail of pancreas.

Clinical trials involving genome-edited cells are growing in popularity, where CAR-T immunotherapy and CRISPR/Cas9 editing are more recognized strategies. Genetic reporters are needed to localize the molecular events inside these cells in patients. Specifically, a nonimmunogenic genetic reporter is urgently needed as current reporters are immunogenic due to derivation from nonhuman sources.

Background And Aims: Endoscopic biliary sphincterotomy (EST) is commonly performed during therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), but is an independent risk factor for post-ERCP pancreatitis, bleeding and duodenal perforation. These are partly ascribed to the electrosurgical current mode used for EST, and currently the optimal current model for EST remains controversial. In this study, we aimed to compare the rate of complications undergoing EST using the Endocut versus the blended current.

Unlabelled: Circular RNA (circRNA) is shown to participate in various tumors, including lung cancer. Although a few circRNAs involved in lung cancer are reported, whether circRNA negatively regulates lung cancer development remains elusive. In this study, we showed hsa_circ_100395 expression was decreased in lung cancer tissues.
