Background: There are few real-world studies in which the efficacy of sequential crizotinib and second-generation anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are compared with direct therapy of second-generation ALK TKI in -positive advanced lung cancer.

Methods: Between May 2014 and October 2022, 211 patients from the Zhejiang Cancer Hospital who harbored rearrangement were analyzed. Of these patients, 115 received crizotinib with sequential second-generation ALK TKIs, and 96 patients received a second-generation ALK TKI directly.

Background: The efficacy of definite for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with uncommon epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations has been preliminarily demonstrated. However, there is a paucity of data with which to compare the efficacy and safety of second- and third-generation TKIs in patients with NSCLC carrying uncommon EGFR mutations.

Methods: We compared the efficacy and safety of second- and third-generation TKIs in all NSCLC patients in whom next-generation sequencing confirmed uncommon EGFR mutations, including G719X, S768I, and L861Q.

Introduction: Submassive hepatic necrosis (SMHN, defined as necrosis of 15-90% of the entire liver on explant) is a likely characteristic pathological feature of ACLF in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis. We aimed to comprehensively explore microbiome and bile acids patterns across enterhepatic circulation and build well-performing machine learning models to predict SMHN status.

Methods: Based on the presence or absence of SMHN, 17 patients with HBV-related end-stage liver disease who received liver transplantation were eligible for inclusion.

Department of Geriatric, Affiliated Hangzhou First People's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.

is a tumor suppressor gene as well as a disease-causing gene for autosomal dominant disorder tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). Research has found that some tumor tissues have lower TSC2 expression levels than normal tissues. Furthermore, low expression of TSC2 is associated with poor prognosis in breast cancer.

Background: Immunotherapy, monotherapy, and immunotherapy plus platinum-based chemotherapy are the standard treatments for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with negative driver genes. However, the impact of similar continuing immunotherapy beyond progression (IBP) of first-line immunotherapy for advanced NSCLC has not yet been shown. This study aimed to estimate the impact of immunotherapy beyond first-line progression (IBF) and evaluate the factors associated with second-line efficacity.

Association of circulating omentin level and metabolic-associated fatty liver disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Front Endocrinol (Lausanne)

May 2023

Department of Clinical Evaluation Center, The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.

Background: Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is closely associated with omentin, a novel adipokine that plays a vital role in metabolic balance. The literature about the relationship between circulating omentin and MAFLD is conflicting. Therefore, this meta-analysis evaluated circulating omentin levels in patients with MAFLD compared with healthy controls to explore the role of omentin in MAFLD.

HER2-positive gastric cancer (GC) makes up 15-20% of all GC incidences, and targeted therapy with trastuzumab is the standard of treatment. However, the mechanisms of resistance to trastuzumab are still not fully understood and presents a significant challenge in clinical practice. In this study, whole exome sequencing (WES) was performed on paired tumor tissues before trastuzumab treatment (at baseline) and at progressive disease (PD) in 23 GC patients.

Zhejiang Cancer Hospital, Institute of Basic Medicine and Cancer (IBMC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, 310022, China.

Background: Radiation-induced pulmonary fibrosis (RIPF) is a long-term complication of thoracic radiotherapy without effective treatment available.

Objective: This study aimed to establish a RIPF mouse model and explore the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of recombinant human endostatin (Endostar).

Methods: C57BL/6 mice received a 16-Gy dose of X-rays to the whole thorax with or without the administration of Endostar for 24 weeks.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) combined with antiangiogenic therapy have shown promising antitumor activity against a range of advanced cancers. However, evidence is lacking as to whether this combination therapy could benefit thymic epithelial tumors (TETs). We aimed to explore the efficacy and safety of this combination therapy in advanced TETs.

The efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) on KRAS-mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains controversial. This retrospective study compared the effects of ICIs treatment and chemotherapy on the prognosis of patients with KRAS-mutant advanced NSCLC and different mutant subtypes in the real world. The study included 95 patients with KRAS-mutant advanced NSCLC.

Department of Clinical Trial, The Cancer Hospital of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Zhejiang Cancer Hospital), Institute of Basic Medicine and Cancer (IBMC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hangzhou, China.

Background: Primary adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) of the lung is a rare and aggressive disease and limited information is available on the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for this disease. Here, we evaluated the expression status of programmed death-1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) and efficacy of ICIs in patients with pulmonary ASC.

Methods: The efficacy and toxicity of ICIs were examined in 38 patients with previously treated lung ASC from November 2017 to October 2021 in Zhejiang Cancer Hospital (Hangzhou, China).

LncRNA FRMD6-AS1 promotes hepatocellular carcinoma cell migration and stemness by regulating SENP1/HIF-1α axis.

Pathol Res Pract

March 2023

The Key Laboratory of Tumor Molecular Diagnosis and Individualized Medicine of Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Affiliated People's Hospital, Hangzhou Medical College, No. 8, Yikang Street, Lin'an District, Hangzhou 310014, China. Electronic address:

Background: Long non-cording RNAs (lncRNAs) drive the malignant progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a cancer with high mortality rates but the function of FERM Domain Containing 6 antisense RNA 1 (FRMD6-AS1) in HCC has not been fully addressed. Hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs) are transcription factors relevant to HCC under hypoxia and are regulated by SUMO-specific protease 1 (SENP1) through its deSUMOylation of HIF-1α. The current study investigated the role of FRMD6-AS1 in the regulation of SENP1-mediated deSUMOylation of HIF-1α.
