Spop ameliorates diabetic nephropathy through restraining NLRP3 inflammasome.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

February 2022

Department of Endocrinology, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Xingtai Medical College, No.618 Gangtie North Road, Xindu District, Xingtai, 054000, Hebei, China. Electronic address:

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most common causes for end-stage renal disease without effective therapies available. NLR family, pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome possesses a fundamental effect to facilitate the pathogenesis of DN. Unfortunately, how NLRP3 inflammasome is mediated still remains largely unclear.

To date, at least to the best of our knowledge, there are only limited studies available on the endovascular treatment (EVT) of brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) involving the anterior cerebral artery (ACA), thus termed ACA-BAVMs. The present study retrospectively examined 60 patients with ACA-BAVMs treated with EVT. The patients were aged between 10 and 72 years (mean age, 35.

Regulation of the long noncoding RNA XIST on the inflammatory polarization of microglia in cerebral infarction.

Exp Ther Med

September 2021

Meteorological Service and Applied Meteorology, Ren County Meteorological Bureau of Hebei Province, Xingtai, Hebei 055150, P.R. China.

Proinflammatory polarization of microglia aggravates brain injury in cerebral infarction. The present study focused on the role of long non-coding (lnc)RNA X-inactive specific transcript (XIST) in the phenotype modulation of microglia. It was revealed that lncRNA XIST was significantly upregulated in both a mouse cerebral infarction model induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and an activated microglial model induced by oxygen/glucose deprivation (OGD).

Background: Recently, many clinical experiments have evaluated the influences of liraglutide in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. However, the outcomes of these studies are inconsistent, and the number of high-quality prospective trials that conducted to assess the cardiovascular safety is limited. Hence, for this research, it was implemented for the assessment of the cardiovascular effectiveness and safety of liraglutide in type 2 diabetes patients.

Sepsis is a severe systemic inflammatory response induced by infection. Innate immunity recognizes pathogen components such as lipopolysaccharides (LPS), and mediates the polarization of immune cells and the release of cytokines. However, this process is also crucial for triggering sepsis and septic shock.

Medical Oncology Department, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine, Guangzhou, Guangdong, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

Introduction: Sintilimab, an anti-programmed death 1 antibody, plus pemetrexed and platinum had revealed promising efficacy for nonsquamous NSCLC in a phase 1b study. We conducted a randomized, double-blind, phase 3 study to compare the efficacy and safety of sintilimab with placebo, both in combination with such chemotherapy (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03607539).

Aim: Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) embolisation is in peril after the ARUBA trial. Advancements that are needed to reduce procedural risk are better control and visualisation during micro-catheter injection of liquid embolic material. The injectability, radiographic visualisation, mechanical stability and biocompatibility of the embolic agent FeO-EVOH was evaluated in an in vivo swine AVM model.

Biosimilar candidate IBI305 plus paclitaxel/carboplatin for the treatment of non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer.

Transl Lung Cancer Res

December 2019

Department of Medical Oncology, State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Guangzhou 510000, China.

Background: Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody (mAb) against vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and used for treatments of various cancers. Due to the high costs of bevacizumab treatments, a biosimilar provides an affordable alternative therapy for cancer patients.

Methods: In this randomized, double-blind, multicenter, phase 3 study, locally advanced, metastatic or recurrent non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with wild-type epidermal growth factor receptor were enrolled and randomized (1:1) into IBI305 or bevacizumab groups.

Introduction: This study aims to explore the effects of microRNA-1286 (miR-1286) on the development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) via the aerobic glycolysis pathway by targeting pyruvate kinase muscle isozyme M2 (PKM2).

Material And Methods: The mRNA levels of miR-1286 in NSCLC tissues and mouse tumor tissues were detected by q-PCR. MiR-1286 was knocked down and overexpressed separately in A549 cells.

It remains unknown whether blockade of B-Raf proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase (BRAF) signaling and MET proto-oncogene, receptor tyrosine kinase (c-Met) signaling is effective in suppressing the growth of human colorectal cancer (CRC) cells. The present study investigated the effects of the vemurafenib alone and in combination with c-Met inhibitor PHA-665752 on the growth of human CRC cells and in mouse xenografts. HT-29 and RKO CRC cell lines with BRAF mutations and mice bearing HT-29 xenografts were treated with vemurafenib in the absence or presence of PHA-665752.
