Tollip promotes hepatocellular carcinoma progression via PI3K/AKT pathway.

Open Med (Wars)

April 2022

Department of Gastroenterology, The Second Affiliated Hospital of University of South China, No. 35 Jiefang Road, Hengyang City, 421001, Hunan province, China.

The activation of signaling pathways induced by Toll-like receptor (TLR) has been demonstrated to play essential roles in multiple liver diseases. Toll-interacting protein (Tollip) acts as an endogenous negative modulator of TLR signaling and is implicated in various cardio-metabolic diseases. However, the effect of Tollip in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains elusive.

Background: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the main pathological type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). Chromobox (CBX) family proteins are classical components of polycomb group (PcG) complexes in many cancer types, resulting in accelerated carcinogenesis. Nevertheless, the prognostic, functional and expression significance of these CBX family members in DLBCL remain unclear and elusive.

The Mitochondrial-Derived Peptide MOTS-c Attenuates Oxidative Stress Injury and the Inflammatory Response of H9c2 Cells Through the Nrf2/ARE and NF-κB Pathways.

Cardiovasc Eng Technol

October 2022

Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Ningbo First Hospital, No. 59, Liuting Street, Haishu District, Ningbo, 315000, Zhejiang, People's Republic of China.

Aim: Oxidative stress and the inflammatory response contribute to the progression of cardiovascular disease. The present study aimed to investigate whether the mitochondrial-derived peptide MOTS-c could alleviate HO-induced oxidative stress and inflammatory status in H9c2 cells through activation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related Factor 2 (Nrf2)/antioxidative response element (ARE) and inhibition of the NF-κB pathway.

Methods: Rat H9c2 cardiomyocytes were obtained, and 10, 20 or 50 μM MOTS-c was pretreated for 24 h before treatment with HO Then, the cell was treated with 100 μM HO for 1 h to induce oxidative stress.

Vorinostat triggers miR-769-5p/3p-mediated suppression of proliferation and induces apoptosis via the STAT3-IGF1R-HDAC3 complex in human gastric cancer.

Cancer Lett

September 2021

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Gastroenterology, Department of Gastroenterology, Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, 510515, China; Department of Gastroenterology, Longgang District People's Hospital, Shenzhen, 518172, China. Electronic address:

Previous reports have shown that histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) can alter miRNA expression in a range of cancers. Both the 5p-arm and 3p-arm of mature miRNAs can be expressed from the same precursor and involved in cancer progress. Nevertheless, the detailed mechanism by which vorinostat (SAHA), a HDACi, triggers miR-769-5p/miR-769-3p-mediated suppression of proliferation and induces apoptosis in gastric cancer (GC) cells remains elusive.

HMGA1 promotes gastric cancer growth and metastasis by transactivating SUZ12 and CCDC43 expression.

Aging (Albany NY)

June 2021

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Gastroenterology, Department of Gastroenterology, Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou 510515, China.

HMGA1 protein is an architectural transcription factor that has been implicated in the progression of multiple malignant tumors. However, the role of HMGA1 in the growth and metastasis of gastric cancer (GC) has not yet been elucidated. Here, we show that HMGA1 is overexpressed in GC cells and the high expression of HMGA1 was correlated with worse survival in GC patients using a bioinformatics assay.
