Background: Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases worldwide. Currently, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with stent implantation is the main clinical treatment for CHD, and patients can achieve better outcomes after stenting. However, adverse cardiovascular events continue to recur, ultimately failing to yield good results.

Coagulation system activation is commonly observed in tumor patients, including prostate cancer (PCa), with coagulation markers proposed as potential prognostic indicators for cancer severity. However, the correlation between these markers and clinicopathological features in PCa remains unclear. Thus, this study investigates the association between comprehensive coagulation markers and clinicopathological characteristics in PCa patients.

Enhanced Photodynamic Therapy by Improved Light Energy Capture Efficiency of Porphyrin Photosensitizers.

Curr Treat Options Oncol

September 2023

Institute of Pharmacy & Pharmacology, Hunan Province Cooperative Innovation Center for Molecular Target New Drug Study, University of South China, 28 Changsheng Road, Hengyang City, Hunan Province, 421001, China.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has garnered increasing attention in cancer treatment because of its advantages such as minimal invasiveness and selective destruction. With the development of PDT, impressive progress has been made in the preparation of photosensitizers, particularly porphyrin photosensitizers. However, the limited tissue penetration of the activating light wavelengths and relatively low light energy capture efficiency of porphyrin photosensitizers are two major disadvantages in conventional photosensitizers.

  • Rural China faces a significant gap in old-age care, making the development of mutual support services vital for improving care for the elderly.
  • A study with 2,102 participants utilized surveys to assess social support, needs for mutual support, and willingness to participate, revealing that most respondents are willing to engage in mutual support.
  • Findings indicate that mutual support needs correlate positively with subjective and utilized support, while negatively with the willingness to provide support, highlighting the importance of tailored support strategies for rural older populations.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that affects women of childbearing age, resulting in reproductive dysfunction, hyperinsulinemia, and obesity. While several drugs are currently approved for use in these patients, their relative effectiveness remains controversial. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the reproductive efficacy and safety of exenatide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, versus metformin, an insulin sensitizer, in the treatment of patients with PCOS.

Postoperative delirium (POD) is an acute cognitive dysfunction that is mainly characterized by memory impairment and disturbances in consciousness. POD can prolong the hospital stay and increase the 1-month mortality rate of patients. The overall incidence of POD is approximately 23%, and its prevalence can go up to 50% in high-risk surgeries.

Tim-3 blockade enhances the clearance of Chlamydia psittaci in the lung by promoting a cell-mediated immune response.

Int Immunopharmacol

March 2023

Hunan Province Key Laboratory of Typical Environmental Pollution and Health Hazards, School of Public Health, Hengyang Medical School, University of South China, Hengyang 421001, China. Electronic address:

Chlamydia psittaci is remarkable at disrupting immunity and thus poses a great risk to the animal industry and public health. Immune inhibitory molecule upregulation and the accumulation of specialized cells play key roles in chlamydial clearance. It is clear that the T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain protein 3 receptor (Tim-3) can regulate effector T cells in infectious disease.

The glutamatergic-mediated excitatory system in the brain is vital for the regulation of sleep-wake and general anesthesia. Specifically, the paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus (PVH), which contains mainly glutamatergic neurons, has been shown to play a critical role in sleep-wake. Here, we sought to explore whether the PVH glutamatergic neurons have an important effect on the process of general anesthesia.

Validation of ESM1 Related to Ovarian Cancer and the Biological Function and Prognostic Significance.

Int J Biol Sci

January 2023

Department of Assisted Reproductive Centre, Zhuzhou central hospital, Xiangya hospital Zhuzhou central south university, Central South University, Zhuzhou, Hunan, China.

Ovarian cancer (OC), a serious gynecological malignant disease, remains an enormous challenge in early diagnosis and medical treatment. Based on the GEO and TCGA databases in R language, endothelial cell-specific molecule 1 (ESM1) was confirmed separately with the bioinformatic analysis tool. ESM1 has been demonstrated to be upregulated in multiple cancer types, but the oncogenic mechanism by which ESM1 promotes OC is still largely unknown.

Clinical application of serum-based proteomics technology in human tumor research.

Anal Biochem

February 2023

Department of Pathology, The First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China, Hunan, Hengyang, 421001, Hunan Province, China; Cancer Research Institute of Hengyang Medical College, University of South China, Key Laboratory of Cancer Cellular and Molecular Pathology in Hunan Province, Hunan, Hengyang, 421001, China. Electronic address:

The rapid development of proteomics technology in the past decades has led to further human understanding of tumor research, and in some ways, the technology plays a very important supporting role in the early detection of tumors. Human serum has been shown to contain a variety of proteins closely related to life activities, and the dynamic change in proteins can often reflect the physiological and pathological conditions of the body. Serum has the advantage of easy extraction, so the application of proteomics technology in serum has become a hot spot and frontier area for the study of malignant tumors.

Background: DNA replication alteration is a hallmark of patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and is frequently observed in LUAD progression. Origin recognition complex (ORC) 1, ORC2, ORC3, ORC4, ORC5, and ORC6 form a replication-initiator complex to mediate DNA replication, which plays a key role in carcinogenesis, while their roles in LUAD remain poorly understood.

Methods: The mRNA and protein expression of ORCs was confirmed by the GEPIA, HPA, CPTAC, and TCGA databases.
