Metabolites identification is the major bottleneck in untargeted LC-MS metabolomics, primarily due to the limited availability of MS information for most detected metabolites in data dependent acquisition (DDA) mode. To solve this problem, we have integrated the iterative, interval, and segmented window acquisition concepts to develop an innovative non-fixed segmented window interval data dependency acquisition (NFSWI-DDA) mode, which achieves comparable MS coverage to data independent acquisition (DIA) mode. This acquisition strategy harnesses the strengths of both DDA and DIA, which could provide extensive coverage and excellent reproducibility of MS spectra.

Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a severe and persistent pain condition following herpes zoster infection. This case report details the analgesic effects of acupuncture combined with electroacupuncture in a 66-year-old male patient presenting with PHN and peripheral facial paralysis, who showed limited response to conventional treatment with corticosteroids and antiviral medications. Following a comprehensive treatment protocol, including pricking-cupping bloodletting, and targeted acupuncture, the patient experienced significant pain relief and improved facial nerve function.

This study aims to develop a material that could remineralize demineralized enamel and simultaneously exert antibacterial effects. A carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC)/amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP)/polyhexamethylene biguanide hydrochloride (PHMB) nanocomposite was synthesized for the first time, and its stability, remineralization ability, and antibacterial properties were investigated in this study.

Importance: Evidence from systematic reviews of the cardioprotective effect of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) remains controversial, and interventions including PUFAs dietary supplements or prescription medications cannot accurately reflect the role of PUFA RX in cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention.
Objective: We conducted a meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) to evaluate the efficacy of PUFA prescription medication in preventing CVD.
Methods: Two reviewers conducted a literature search of Embase, MEDLINE/PubMed, and the Cochrane Library from their inception to September 2023.

Background: Exposed, infected and necrotic tendons often occur in the middle and late stages of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). The exposed tendon is both a potential source and route of infection, which prolongs the treatment period and affects recovery, leading to amputation and even death. Therefore, management of the exposed tendon in patients with DFU is the key to treatment.

A newly proposed form of programmed cell death, ferroptosis, is distinct in cellular morphology, biochemical characteristics, and genetic characteristics from apoptosis, autophagy, and necrosis. Its mechanisms primarily encompass iron overload, lipid peroxidation, and amino acid metabolisms. Extensive research confirms that ferroptosis is linked to the onset and progression of various diseases that pose a threat to the central nervous system (CNS), offering new directions and targets for the mechanistic study and pharmacotherapy of CNS diseases.

Stroke-related cardiovascular diseases have attracted considerable attention, with atrial fibrillation (AF) being among the most frequent complications. Despite increasing clinical evidence, experimental models of stroke-induced AF are still lacking, hindering mechanistic discoveries and the development of adequate therapeutics targeting this stroke-heart syndrome (SHS). This study aims to create a rat model of ischemic stroke-induced AF (ISIAF) and to explore the efficacy and mechanism of Wenxin Keli (WK), an antiarrhythmic Chinese medicine.

Oropharyngeal (OP) sampling is one of the most commonly used methods for respiratory sampling, but its positivity rate in real practice compared with that of nasopharyngeal (NP) sampling is not fully known. The differences between OP and NP in practice and between practice and the literature were compared. In total, 2323 positive results from 6708 patients were recorded in the laboratory test system, and 15,021 positive results from 31,333 patients were recorded in the national report.

Background: The recurrent nature and socioeconomic burden of nephrolithiasis demand effective treatments. Delineating the crosstalk between inflammatory processes and the endogenous oxalate metabolism pathway, which underpins nephrolithiasis pathogenesis, is essential for advancing treatment strategies.
Purpose: We aim to screen therapeutic Chinese herbal remedies and their bioactive constituents for kidney stone treatment using a fruit fly model, followed by efficacy and mechanism validation in a rodent nephrolithiasis model as well as in vitro human cell culture model.

In the present review, we focused on recent translational and clinical discoveries in asthma immunology, facilitating phenotyping and stratified or personalized interventions for patients with this condition. The immune processes behind chronic inflammation in asthma exhibit marked heterogeneity, with diverse phenotypes defining discernible features and endotypes illuminating the underlying molecular mechanisms. In particular, two primary endotypes of asthma have been identified: "type 2-high," characterized by increased eosinophil levels in the airways and sputum of patients, and "type 2-low," distinguished by increased neutrophils or a pauci-granulocytic profile.

Diabetic wounds represent a significant complication of diabetes and present a substantial challenge to global public health. Macrophages are crucial effector cells that play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of diabetic wounds, through their polarization into distinct functional phenotypes. The field of epigenetics has emerged as a rapidly advancing research area, as this phenomenon has the potential to markedly affect gene expression, cellular differentiation, tissue development and susceptibility to disease.

Background: Aging is the primary risk factor for the onset of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Inflamma-aging is a major feature in the process of aging, and the chronic neuroinflammation caused by inflamma-aging is closely related to AD. As the main participant of neuroinflammation, the polarization of microglia (MG) could influence the development of neuroinflammation.
