Objectives: Airway remodeling, a prominent feature of asthma, involves aberrant proliferation, apoptosis, and migration of airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs). Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are implicated in the regulation of the autophagy pathway. In this study, we aimed to investigate the influence of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) on autophagy and its underlying mechanism in ASMC proliferation, apoptosis, and migration.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the impact of inhaling Icaritin (ICT), a plant hormone, on airway inflammation and remodeling in mice with asthma induced by ovalbumin (OVA).
  • - Results show that inhaling ICT significantly reduces inflammation and other asthma-related issues, such as excessive mucus production and airway constriction, similar to the effects of the asthma medication budesonide (BDND).
  • - The findings suggest that nebulized ICT could be a promising alternative for asthma treatment by effectively reducing airway inflammation and improving lung function in asthmatic mice.

As an actin cytoskeleton interactor, PDZ (postsynaptic density 65-discs large-zonula occludens 1) and LIM (abnormal cell lineage 11-isket 1-mechanosensory abnormal 3) domain protein 7 (PDLIM7) was supposed to play an essential role modulating cytoskeleton. Focal adhesions (FAs), which are located at the cytomembrane terminus of actin cytoskeleton, function as a force sensor and can transform the mechanical signal to a biochemical signal. Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) localizes to and regulates signal transduction in FAs, which play an essential role in cell polarity, migration, and invasion.

High glucose has been proved to impair cognitive function in type 2 diabetes, but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we found that high glucose increased transcription factors' SP1 O-GlcNAcylation in regulatory T (Treg) cells. Glycosylated SP1 further enhanced HDAC2 recruitment and histone deacetylation on Na/Ca/Li exchanger (NCLX) promoter, which downregulated NCLX expression and led to mitochondrial calcium overload and oxidative damage, thereby promoting Treg cell dysfunction, M1 microglia polarization, and diabetes-associated cognitive impairment.

Multiple sclerosis(MS), primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS), and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) share numerous clinical symptoms and serological characteristics. We analyzed 153550 cells of scRNA-seq data of 17 treatment-naive patients (5 MS, 5 pSS, and 7 SLE) and 10 healthy controls, and we examined the enrichment of biological processes, differentially expressed genes (DEGs), immune cell types, and their subpopulations, and cell-cell communication in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). The percentage of B cells, megakaryocytes, monocytes, and proliferating T cells presented significant changes in autoimmune diseases.

Lipid accumulation in macrophages plays an important role in atherosclerosis and is the major cause of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Reducing lipid accumulation in macrophages is an effective therapeutic target for atherosclerosis. Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) exerts the anti-atherosclerotic effects by inhibiting lipid accumulation in macrophages.

The high level of oxidative stress induced by angiotensin II (AngII) is the main pathophysiological process that promotes the proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and induces vascular remodeling. LncRNA metastasis-related lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) has been determined to play an important role in the modulation of oxidative stress and the development of cardiovascular diseases. Nevertheless, the function and underlying mechanism of MALAT1 in restenosis induced by hypertensive angioplasty remain unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs), particularly MALAT1, are implicated in the regulation of diseases associated with vascular remodeling, especially in hypertension.
  • The study found MALAT1 is upregulated in hypertensive aortic smooth muscle and its knockdown reduces VSMC proliferation and migration, which are influenced by Ang II.
  • The research highlights a regulatory axis involving MALAT1, miR-145-5p, and hexokinase 2 (HK2), suggesting that this interaction is key in vascular smooth muscle cell behavior related to hypertension.

  • Venous thromboembolism (VTE) includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), and this study focused on the use of rivaroxaban, a direct oral anticoagulant, in elderly patients (ages 60+) with newly diagnosed VTE.
  • In a study of 576 elderly patients treated with rivaroxaban for at least 3 months, the total bleeding rate was 12.2%, with only a small fraction experiencing major bleeding, while the recurrent VTE rate was 5.4%.
  • The findings suggest that a lower dose of rivaroxaban (10 mg daily) is associated with a significantly reduced risk of bleeding compared to higher doses, making

Electronic address:

Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71), coxsackievirus A16 (CV-A16), and CV-A10 belong to the main prevailing types causing hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Since EV-A71 monovalent vaccine does not confer cross-protection, developing a multivalent vaccine is essential. In this study, a trivalent chimeric virus-like particle of EV-A71 (EV-A71-VLP) was constructed based on EV-A71-VLP backbone by replacing the corresponding surface loops with CV-A16 VP1 G-H, CV-A10 VP1 B-C and E-F loops, which are critical for immunogenic neutralization.

Acupuncture points have a positive effect on the auxiliary prevention and treatment of diseases, so medical devices such as acupuncture robots often need to combine acupuncture points to improve the treatment effect when working, however, intelligent acupoint selection technology is not yet mature, the automatic rapid and accurate positioning of acupoints is still challenging. Therefore, this paper proposes a method of back acupoint location and an evaluation index of acupoint location. First, we propose an improved Keypoint RCNN network for the preliminary location of back acupoints and introduce a channel and spatial attention mechanism module (CBAM) to improve the performance of the model.
