Objectives: Airway remodeling, a prominent feature of asthma, involves aberrant proliferation, apoptosis, and migration of airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs). Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are implicated in the regulation of the autophagy pathway. In this study, we aimed to investigate the influence of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) on autophagy and its underlying mechanism in ASMC proliferation, apoptosis, and migration.

As an actin cytoskeleton interactor, PDZ (postsynaptic density 65-discs large-zonula occludens 1) and LIM (abnormal cell lineage 11-isket 1-mechanosensory abnormal 3) domain protein 7 (PDLIM7) was supposed to play an essential role modulating cytoskeleton. Focal adhesions (FAs), which are located at the cytomembrane terminus of actin cytoskeleton, function as a force sensor and can transform the mechanical signal to a biochemical signal. Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) localizes to and regulates signal transduction in FAs, which play an essential role in cell polarity, migration, and invasion.

High glucose has been proved to impair cognitive function in type 2 diabetes, but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we found that high glucose increased transcription factors' SP1 O-GlcNAcylation in regulatory T (Treg) cells. Glycosylated SP1 further enhanced HDAC2 recruitment and histone deacetylation on Na/Ca/Li exchanger (NCLX) promoter, which downregulated NCLX expression and led to mitochondrial calcium overload and oxidative damage, thereby promoting Treg cell dysfunction, M1 microglia polarization, and diabetes-associated cognitive impairment.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic gastrointestinal disease that results from repeated inflammation and serious complications. Sinapic acid (SA) is a hydroxycinnamic acid present in a variety of plants that has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and other protective effects. This study investigated the antifibrotic effect of SA on chronic colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium salt (DSS) in mice.

The Nck-associated protein 5-like (NCKAP5L) gene, also known as Cep169, is associated with certain cancers. However, the diagnosis and prognosis value of NCKAP5L in several types of human cancer, including colorectal cancer, is not fully understood. In the present study, a comprehensive pan-cancer analysis of NCKAP5L was performed using several approaches, including gene expression and alteration, protein phosphorylation, immune infiltration, survival prognosis analyses and gene enrichment using the following: The University of California Santa Cruz Genome Browser Human Dec.

Multiple sclerosis(MS), primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS), and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) share numerous clinical symptoms and serological characteristics. We analyzed 153550 cells of scRNA-seq data of 17 treatment-naive patients (5 MS, 5 pSS, and 7 SLE) and 10 healthy controls, and we examined the enrichment of biological processes, differentially expressed genes (DEGs), immune cell types, and their subpopulations, and cell-cell communication in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). The percentage of B cells, megakaryocytes, monocytes, and proliferating T cells presented significant changes in autoimmune diseases.

Lipid accumulation in macrophages plays an important role in atherosclerosis and is the major cause of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Reducing lipid accumulation in macrophages is an effective therapeutic target for atherosclerosis. Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) exerts the anti-atherosclerotic effects by inhibiting lipid accumulation in macrophages.

Introduction: Gestational diabetes (GDM) is one of the common complications of female pregnancy, which seriously affects the health of mothers and their offspring. So far, the etiology has not been fully clarified.
Methods: A case-control study was conducted to clarify the relationship between Erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 4 (ERBB4) functional tag genetic variants (rs1595064, rs1595065, rs1595066 and rs6719645) and the risk of GDM.
Background: Compassion fatigue is often associated with moral distress in the nursing practice among registered nurses. Moral resilience is an important ability to maintain, restore, or promote their physical and mental health in response to ethical dilemmas in nursing. Moral resilience can be utilized as a potential solution to aid registered nurses in effectively managing compassion fatigue.

The high level of oxidative stress induced by angiotensin II (AngII) is the main pathophysiological process that promotes the proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and induces vascular remodeling. LncRNA metastasis-related lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) has been determined to play an important role in the modulation of oxidative stress and the development of cardiovascular diseases. Nevertheless, the function and underlying mechanism of MALAT1 in restenosis induced by hypertensive angioplasty remain unclear.

Background Preoperative assessment of follicular thyroid neoplasms is challenging using the current US risk stratification systems (RSSs) that are applicable to papillary thyroid neoplasms. Purpose To develop a US feature-based RSS for differentiating between follicular thyroid adenoma (FTA) and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) in biopsy-proven follicular neoplasm and compare it with existing RSSs. Materials and Methods This retrospective multicenter study included consecutive adult patients who underwent conventional US and received a final diagnosis of follicular thyroid neoplasm from seven centers between January 2018 and December 2022.

Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71), coxsackievirus A16 (CV-A16), and CV-A10 belong to the main prevailing types causing hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Since EV-A71 monovalent vaccine does not confer cross-protection, developing a multivalent vaccine is essential. In this study, a trivalent chimeric virus-like particle of EV-A71 (EV-A71-VLP) was constructed based on EV-A71-VLP backbone by replacing the corresponding surface loops with CV-A16 VP1 G-H, CV-A10 VP1 B-C and E-F loops, which are critical for immunogenic neutralization.

Acupuncture points have a positive effect on the auxiliary prevention and treatment of diseases, so medical devices such as acupuncture robots often need to combine acupuncture points to improve the treatment effect when working, however, intelligent acupoint selection technology is not yet mature, the automatic rapid and accurate positioning of acupoints is still challenging. Therefore, this paper proposes a method of back acupoint location and an evaluation index of acupoint location. First, we propose an improved Keypoint RCNN network for the preliminary location of back acupoints and introduce a channel and spatial attention mechanism module (CBAM) to improve the performance of the model.
