Pro-inflammatory M1 macrophages possess the ability to change the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment by releasing various inflammatory factors simultaneously, which can effectively inhibit tumor progression and relapse. Promoting macrophage polarization towards M1 may be an effective way to treat Melanoma. However, the risk of cytokine storm caused by the proliferation and excessive activation of M1 macrophages greatly limits it as a biosafety therapeutic strategy in anti-tumor immunotherapy.

Calcium homeostasis imbalance is one of the important pathological mechanisms in heart failure. Sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase (SERCA2a), a calcium ATPase on the sarcoplasmic reticulum in cardiac myocytes, is a myocardial systolic-diastolic Ca2 + homeostasis regulating enzyme that is not only involved in cardiac diastole but also indirectly affects cardiac myocyte contraction. SERCA2a expression was found to be decreased in myocardial tissue in heart failure, however, there are few reports on serum SERCA2a expression in patients with heart failure, and this study was designed to investigate whether serum SERCA2a levels are associated with the occurrence of adverse events after discharge in patients hospitalized with heart failure.

Background: Despite previous observational studies linking obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) to venous thromboembolism (VTE), these findings remain controversial. This study aimed to explore the association between OSA and VTE, including pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT), at a genetic level using a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.
Methods: Utilizing summary-level data from large-scale genome-wide association studies in European individuals, we designed a bidirectional two-sample MR analysis to comprehensively assess the genetic association between OSA and VTE.

Combined mild-temperature photothermal/chemotherapy has emerged as a highly promising modality for tumor therapy. However, its therapeutic efficacy is drastically compromised by the heat-induced overexpression of heat shock proteins (HSPs) by the cells, which resist heat stress and apoptosis. The purpose of this study was to downregulate HSPs and enhance the mild-temperature photothermal/chemotherapy effect.

Recent years have seen rising mortality rates linked to cutaneous melanoma (SKCM), despite advances in immunotherapy. Understanding RNA N6-methyladenosine (M6A) significance in SKCM is crucial for prognosis, tumor microenvironment (TME), immune cell presence, and immunotherapy efficacy. We analyzed 23 M6A regulators using SKCM samples from TCGA and GEO databases, identifying three M6A modification patterns linked to TME cell infiltration.

The objective of this study was to examine the association between the serum copper concentration and the prevalence of diabetes among US adults with hypertension using the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The study population was selected from adults aged over 20 years old in the three survey cycles of NHANES from 2011 to 2016. Logistic regression model analyses were applied to determine the independent risky effect of copper to the prevalence of diabetes.

Preoperative prediction of postoperative response to TACE in patients with HCC is crucial.
Purpose: To develop a deep neural network (DNN)-based nomogram for the non-invasive and precise prediction of TACE response in patients with HCC.

Secondary osteoporosis is frequently due to the use of high-dose glucocorticoids (GCs). The existing strategy for managing glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) is considered insufficient and remains in a state of ongoing evolution. Therefore, it is crucial to develop more precise and effective agents for the treatment of GIOP.

Objective: This study was designed to investigate the regulatory effects of kinesin family member (KIF) 23 on anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) cell viability and migration and the underlying mechanism.
Methods: Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was used to analyze the levels of KIF23 in ATC cells. Besides, the effects of KIF23 and sirtuin (SIRT) 7 on the viability and migration of ATC cells were detected using cell counting kit-8, transwell and wound healing assays.

Mitochondria are dynamic organelles that participate in different cellular process that control metabolism, cell division, and survival, and the kidney is one of the most metabolically active organs that contains abundant mitochondria. Perturbations in mitochondrial homeostasis in the kidney can accelerate kidney aging, and maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis can effectively delay aging in the kidney. Kidney aging is a degenerative process linked to detrimental processes.

Promoting complete periodontal regeneration of damaged periodontal tissues, including dental cementum, periodontal ligament, and alveolar bone, is one of the challenges in the treatment of periodontitis. Therefore, it is urgent to explore new treatment strategies for periodontitis. Exosomes generated from stem cells are now a promising alternative to stem cell therapy, with therapeutic results comparable to those of their blast cells.

V-Raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B (BRAF) alteration is one of the most essential driver genes of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). BRAF encodes serine/threonine protein kinases, and its mutations typically lead to protein compositional activation, thereby activating the mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK) signaling pathway. A promising new approach for the treatment of mutated BRAF and/or downstream MEK may provide customized treatment opportunities for BRAF driven NSCLC patients.

Neonatal genital prolapse is a rare situation. This report presents a unique case involving a pair of premature female twins who both developed vaginal wall prolapse without any neurological deficits. Multiple factors such as selective intrauterine growth restriction, feeding intolerance, extrauterine growth retardation, and elevated intra-abdominal pressure after birth may have contributed to the development of this phenomenon.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are a class of substances that feature vesicle-like structures. Initially deemed to be "biological waste", recent studies have highlighted the crucial role of EVs in mediating information communication between cells by transporting bioactive components. Specifically, tumor cell-derived extracellular vesicles (TEVs) contain components that can be utilized for disease diagnosis and as vaccines to activate the immune system.

Mitochondrial dysfunction is implied as a crucial factor in age-related chronic kidney disease. It is confirmed that Gli-like transcription factor 1 (GLIS1) is involved in age-related renal fibrosis, however, the correlation between mitochondrial disturbances and GLIS1-driven kidney aging are not clearly clarified. Thus, we investigated the regulatory mechanism of GLIS1 in the homeostasis of mitochondrial quality control both in vivo and in vitro.
