Background: Age-related kidney impairment, characterized by tubular epithelial cell senescence and renal fibrosis, poses a significant global public health threat. Although N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation is implicated in various pathological processes, its regulatory mechanism in kidney aging remains unclear.
Methods: An m6A-mRNA epitranscriptomic microarray was performed to identify genes with abnormal m6A modifications in aged human kidney tissues.

Developing advanced and effective enzyme-drug systems for cancer treatment is of significant interest. Herein, a novel approach is reported to create a highly active and robust enzyme-drug system. Glucose oxidase nanogels (nGOx) are first synthesized by polymerization on the surface of GOx using vinylimidazole as comonomers.

Background: To identify the risk factors for bronchiectasis patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis (APTB) and to develop a predictive nomogram model for estimating the risk of APTB in bronchiectasis patients.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 16,750 bronchiectasis patients hospitalized at the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University between January 2019 and December 2023. The 390 patients with APTB were classified as the case group, while 818 patients were randomly sampled by computer at a 1:20 ratio from the 16,360 patients with other infections to serve as the control group.

Radiation-induced sarcomas (RIS) are iatrogenic malignancies that arise following high-dose radiotherapy, posing a significant clinical challenge due to their poor prognosis and resistance to conventional treatments. The incidence of RIS is increasing with advancements in radiotherapy techniques. This report presents a case of a 71-year-old male diagnosed with stage III rectal adenocarcinoma treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and curative surgery.

Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) have been described in various malignancies and viewed as a sign of anti-tumor immunity, so they are frequently thought to be implicated in the prognosis of cancers. However, little information is available on the association of the distribution pattern of TILs with clinical outcomes in gastric cancer (GC). TIL densities at different regions were assessed immunohistochemically in 59 GC patients to analyze their relationship with clinicopathological characteristics.

This comprehensive review examines the latest developments in improving the blood compatibility of hemoperfusion adsorbents. By leveraging advanced coating and modification techniques, including albumin-collodion, cellulose, hydrogel, and heparin coatings, notable enhancements in blood compatibility have been achieved across diverse adsorbent types, such as carbon-based, resin-based, and polysaccharide-based materials. Despite promising laboratory results, the intricate manufacturing processes and elevated costs present significant challenges for broad clinical application.

Purpose: We aim to detect the effects of sivelestat on renal ischemia-reperfusion associated with AKI and also explore the underlying mechanism.
Materials And Methods: Mice, aged between 8 and 12 weeks, were randomly allocated among four distinct groups, respectively normal saline sham group(C), normal saline surgery group(I), sivelestat (50 mg/kg) sham group(S), sivelestat (50 mg/kg) surgery group(SI) (n=6, each group). In the surgical groups, the renal pedicles of mice were clamped with non-traumatic micro-aneurysm clamps, resulting in ischemia of the kidneys for 45 minutes.

Aims: To explore the effect of postoperative hydrocodone analgesia on inflammatory factors, NSE levels, and cognitive function in elderly patients undergoing hip arthroplasty.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on elderly patients undergoing hip arthroplasty from January 2020 to December 2023. Among them, 43 patients with postoperative hydrocodone analgesia were included in an observation group, and 57 patients without postoperative hydrocodone analgesia in a control group.

During the process of photoaging in the skin, Succinylated type I collagen has a significant effect on reversing the damage caused by UVB radiation, with the regulation of cellular ferroptosis being one of its important pathophysiological mechanisms. Specifically, Succinylated type I collagen reduces the expression of key cell cycle regulators P16, P21, and P53, as well as the ferroptosis-related factor Acyl-CoA Synthetase Long Chain Family Member 4 (ACSL4), induced by UVB radiation in cells and tissues. Meanwhile, it increases the expression of key factors Glutathione Peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and Solute Carrier Family 7 Member 11 (SLC7A11), which inhibit ferroptosis.

Evidence for the treatment of patients with mild-to-moderate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is limited. The efficacy of N-acetylcysteine (an antioxidant and mucolytic agent) for patients with mild-to-moderate COPD is uncertain. In this multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, we randomly assigned 968 patients with mild-to-moderate COPD to treatment with N-acetylcysteine (600 mg, twice daily) or matched placebo for two years.

Background: Ischaemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a critical complication post-limb replantation. The oxidative stress and cellular apoptosis due to IRI considerably hinder the healing process. This study aimed to investigate the modulatory effects of pre-perfusion with hydrogen-rich heparin sodium on the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2)/haeme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) pathway and its potential mechanisms in mitigating skeletal muscle IRI post-limb replantation.

Hydrogel-based tissue clearing technologies have shown significant promise for deep-tissue imaging and subcellular-level optical 3D reconstruction of whole organs. This study proposes a novel approach utilizing a deep eutectic solvent (DES) formulated with glucose and m-xylylene-diamine (MXDA) to create a highly efficient tissue-clearing hydrogel system named the passive hydrogel clearing system (PHCS). PHCS achieved efficient tissue clearing through a single-step tissue gelation process.
