Background: Further evidence is required regarding the influence of metal mixture exposure on mortality. Therefore, we employed diverse statistical models to evaluate the associations between eight urinary metals and the risks of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.

Methods: We measured the levels of 8 metals in the urine of adults who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 1999 to 2018.

Patients were categorized into the breast-conserving surgery (BCS) group and the total mastectomy (TM) group, and further divided by the number of positive lymph nodes (LNs).

Causal relationship between dyslipidemia and diabetic neuropathy: a mendelian randomization study.

Some studies have shown an association between dyslipidemia and diabetic neuropathy (DN), but the genetic association has not been clarified. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the genetic causal association between dyslipidemia and DN through a Mendelian randomization (MR) approach. Genetic causal associations between total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) and DN were investigated by MR to provide a basis for the prevention and treatment of DN.

Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors and contrast-induced nephropathy risk: a meta-analysis.

Background: Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is an adverse renal event that occurs following the administration of contrast media for diagnostic procedures or therapeutic angiographic intervention. Nevertheless, there is currently no efficacious and safe agents for the treatment of CIN, except for hydration. We aimed to conduct a meta-analysis to verify the potential nephroprotective role of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) in the prevention of CIN.

TIPE () has been identified as an oncogene and participates in tumor biology. However, how its role in the metabolism of tumor cells during melanoma development remains unclear. Here, we demonstrated that TIPE promoted glycolysis by interacting with pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) in melanoma.

Patient-reported outcome based symptom management is a better option for early postoperative recovery after breast cancer surgery: a parallel controlled randomized clinical trial.

Background: We aimed to assess the efficacy and feasibility of applying patient-reported outcome (PRO) based symptom management in the early postoperative period after breast cancer surgery.

Materials And Method: Before surgery, patients diagnosed with breast cancer who met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either postoperative PRO-based symptom management or usual care. All patients completed the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory-Chinese version (MDASI-C) via the electronic PRO system preoperatively, on a daily basis postoperatively, and twice weekly after discharge, for a duration up to 2 weeks.

The Chinese Guidelines for Ultrasound-guided Thermal Ablation of Thyroid Nodules (2024 edition) were jointly initiated by the Ultrasound Committee of Chinese Medical Association, the Interventional Ultrasound Committee of Chinese Association of Ultrasound in Medicine and Engineering, the Ultrasonic Intervention Committee of Chinese Colleges of Interventionalists, the Oncological Intervention Committee of Chinese Research Hospital Association, 37 multidisciplinary experts in interventional ultrasound, ultrasound medicine, endocrinology and thyroid surgery participated in the compilation of this guide, which expanded the depth and breadth of the perspective and enhanced the authority of the guide. Based on the systematic review of literatures related to ultrasound-guided thermal ablation of thyroid nodules and the professional opinions of experts, the guidelines define the indications and contraindications of thermal ablation, including pre-ablation evaluation and preparation, thermal ablation techniques and operational procedures, post-ablation follow-up, therapeutic effect evaluation, complications prevention and treatment, and the writing of medical documents for ablation. According to the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE), a total of 17 objective and comprehensive recommendations were given.

This study carried out a serum metabolomic analysis using blood specimens sampled from patients with a suspected infection whose routine culture results were later demonstrated to be positive.

Newborn congenital hypothyroidism (CH) screening has been widely used worldwide. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of applying biochemical and gene panel sequencing as screening tests for CH and to analyze the mutation spectrum of CH in China. Newborns were prospectively recruited from eight hospitals in China between February and December 2021.

The Effect of Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitors in the Prevention and Treatment of Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: Xanthine oxidase inhibitors (XOIs) may help prevent stroke. However, heterogeneity can be found in the conclusions of different studies. The relevant evidence was summarized in this systematic review and meta-analysis to further clarify the role of XOIs in the prevention and treatment of stroke, with a focus on evaluating the effects of XOIs in primary and secondary prevention of stroke, acute stroke treatment, and reduction of post-stroke complications.

Second victim syndrome (SVS) refers to the psychological trauma experienced by healthcare workers (HCWs) as a result of being involved in an adverse event (AE). Research on the prevalence of SVS and the support needed for HCWs who experience it is limited. A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Health Local Unit of Lecce, in Puglia, to identify the phenomenon of SVS among HCWs and recognize the forms of support received and desired.

Introduction: Autophagy related genes (ARGs) may play important roles in various biological processes involving kidney transplantation (KT); however, their expression characteristics are rarely used to study the relationship between autophagy and prognosis in KT patients. Predicting the exposure of mycophenolic acid in children with autoimmune diseases using a limited sampling strategy: A retrospective study.

Mycophenolic acid (MPA) is commonly used to treat autoimmune diseases in children, and therapeutic drug monitoring is recommended to ensure adequate drug exposure. However, multiple blood sampling is required to calculate the area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC), causing patient discomfort and waste of human and financial resources. This study aims to use machine learning and deep learning algorithms to develop a prediction model of MPA exposure for pediatric autoimmune diseases with optimizing sampling frequency.
