Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of F0 ATP synthase C subunit (Csub) in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD).

Methods: The 101 patients with chest pain admitted to the department of emergency of the People's Hospital of Yuhuan from May 2019 to December 2020 were enrolled, including 59 patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and 42 patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP). At the same time, 50 age-matched healthy subjects in the health examination center were selected as the healthy control (HC).

Background: Triglyceride glycemic (TyG) index is a novel tool for assessing insulin resistance (IR). Recently, TyG index as a potential biomarker for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has been studied, but its performance is yet inconclusive. Thus, we performed this systemic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the performance of TyG index in predicting GDM.

Diabetic vascular complications are closely associated with long-term vascular dysfunction and poor neovascularization. Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) play pivotal roles in maintaining vascular homeostasis and triggering angiogenesis, and EPC dysfunction contributes to defective angiogenesis and resultant diabetic vascular complications. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) has received substantial attention as a potential therapeutic agent for diabetes via regulating glucose and lipid metabolism.

Tumor cells develop a series of metabolic reprogramming mechanisms to meet the metabolic needs for tumor progression. As metabolic hubs in cells, mitochondria play a significant role in this process, including energy production, biosynthesis, and redox hemostasis. In this study, we show that 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase-like protein (HPDL), a previously uncharacterized protein, is positively associated with the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and disease prognosis.

Capsaicin attenuates liver fibrosis by targeting Notch signaling to inhibit TNF-α secretion from M1 macrophages.

Immunopharmacol Immunotoxicol

December 2020

Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, China.

Background: Capsaicin is a chili pepper extract with multiple therapeutic properties including anti-liver fibrosis. However, the paucity of its underlying mechanisms limited its widely clinical application.

Methods: In the present study, carbon tetrachloride (CCl) was used to induce liver fibrosis in mice, and transforming growth factorβ1 (TGFβ1) was used to mimic liver fibrosis .

Idiopathic Pulmonary fibrosis(PF)is a chronic progressive disease, which is a lack of effective treatment, and the pathogenesis of IPF is not fully elucidated. Asiaticoside(AS) is isolated from Centella asiatica and has the effect of promoting scar healing and reducing scar formation. However, its possible role in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis remains unclear.

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has a significant role in the development of coronary atherosclerosis, independent of traditional cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors. However, the role of myocardial glucose uptake in NAFLD patients who develop coronary atherosclerosis was unclear. The aim of the present study thus was to investigate the association between NAFLD with characteristic of coronary atherosclerotic plaque and myocardial glucose uptake measured by using F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-FDG PET).

Tetratrichomonas in pyopneumothorax.

Am J Emerg Med

June 2019

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, The First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, China. Electronic address:

Pleural trichomonosis is clinically rare, and very few cases of trichomonal empyema have been reported so far. A rare case of an 81-year-old woman with pyopeumothorax presenting with recurrent fever and macroscopic pyuria was present. Microscopic examination of the pleural effusion showed mobile flagellated protozoa which molecular methods identified as Tetratrichomonas.

A series of complex influencing factors lead to failure of neural regeneration after spinal cord injury (SCI). Up to now, there is no robust treatment that can restore the loss of function caused by injury. Because damaged spinal axons do not spontaneously regenerate in their naturally inhibitory microenvironments, biomaterials that induce neural regeneration to appear as attractive treatments to improve the microenvironmental conditions after SCI.
