Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates gonadoblastoma by examining clinical features, pathological morphology, and immunohistochemical characteristics through three patient cases treated between 2014 and 2020.
  • The cases involved phenotypical females with varied chromosomal types and presented with specific microscopic features like small nests of primitive germ cells and sex cord-like cells.
  • The findings suggest that gonadoblastoma is a rare tumor often linked with gonadal hypoplasia, and the study emphasizes the need for better understanding and accurate diagnosis to avoid misclassifications with similar tumors.

Exosomes miR-15a promotes nucleus pulposus-mesenchymal stem cells chondrogenic differentiation by targeting MMP-3.

Cell Signal

October 2021

Department of Orthopedics, The Affiliated Changzhou No. 2 People's Hospital, Nanjing Medical University, Changzhou, Jiangsu 213003, China. Electronic address:

The physiology of the nucleus pulposus (NP) in intervertebral disc degeneration (IVD) has been studied widely. However, interactions involving nucleus pulposus -mesenchymal stem cells (NP-MSCs) are less understood. MicroRNA 15a (miR-15a) is known to target and modulate genes involved in cellular proliferation and apoptosis.

Background: Previous studies have demonstrated the preclinical pharmacological and toxicological consistency, and clinical pharmacokinetic equivalence of bevacizumab biosimilar LY01008 with reference bevacizumab (Avastin). This randomized controlled trial aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of LY01008 with Avastin in first-line treatment of Chinese patients with advanced or recurrent non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: Stage IIIB-IV NSCLC patients with evaluable lesions, good physical status, and adequate organ functions from 67 centers across China were randomized in a ratio of 1:1 to receive LY01008 or Avastin 15 mg/kg intravenously in combination with paclitaxel/carboplatin (combined treatment) for 4-6 cycles, followed by maintenance monotherapy with LY01008 until disease progression, intolerable toxicity, or death.

To investigate the clinicopathological diagnosis and differential diagnosis of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT). Thirty-two cases of IMT collected at the People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province from May 2010 to May 2020 were evaluated for their clinical, histologic, immunohistochemical and genomic features, and relevant literature was reviewed. There were 19 male and 13 female patients, with age ranging from 5 to 65 years (mean, 37 years).

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is an aggressive tumor whose prognosis has little improvement in the last three decades. Various immune-related genes have been suggested as significant roles in the development and progression of malignant cancers. In this study, we acquired and integrated differentially expressed genes of OSCC patients, including immune-related genes and transcription factors (TFs), from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.

Genetic variants in interferon-λ 4 influences HCV clearance in Chinese Han population.

Sci Rep

February 2017

Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing 211166, China.

Recent many studies indicated a novel dinucleotide variant in ss469415590 (TT vs. ΔG) of interferon-λ 4 (IFNL4) gene strongly associated with hepatitis C virus clearance. To evaluate the impact and clinical usefulness of IFNL4 ss469415590 genotype on predicting both spontaneous HCV clearance and response to therapy in Chinese population, we genotyped 795 chronic HCV carriers, 460 subjects with HCV natural clearance and 362 patients with pegylated interferon-α and ribavirin (PEG IFN-α/RBV) treatment.

A novel DYNC1H1 mutation causing spinal muscular atrophy with lower extremity predominance.

Neurol Genet

August 2015

Department of Neurology (Q.N., X.W., M.S., Q.J.), The People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province, Nanjing, China; and Department of Neurology (Q.J.), The First Affiliated Hospital, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, China.

Recent studies have identified mutations in the dynein heavy chain gene (DYNC1H1), which lead to 2 closely related human motor neuropathies: a dominant spinal muscular atrophy with lower extremity predominance (SMALED) and axonal Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease.(1,2) We describe the identification of a novel mutation (p.G807S) in DYNC1H1 as the cause of SMALED.

The Effects of the Recombinant CCR5 T4 Lysozyme Fusion Protein on HIV-1 Infection.

PLoS One

April 2016

Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Nanjing Medical University, 140 Hanzhong Road, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China.

Background: Insertion of T4 lysozyme (T4L) into the GPCR successfully enhanced GPCR protein stability and solubilization. However, the biological functions of the recombinant GPCR protein have not been analyzed.

Methods: We engineered the CCR5-T4L mutant and expressed and purified the soluble recombinant protein using an E.

Nanjing Maternal and Child Health Medical Institute, Affiliated Nanjing Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing 210004, China; The People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province/The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing 210029, China. Electronic address:

Background/aims: Chemoresistance of breast cancer is a growing problem and still a major clinical obstacle to successful treatment in clinical patients. miR-760 was significantly downregulated in chemoresistance breast cancer tissues compared to chemo-sensitive tissues in our previous study. However, the role of miR-760 in modulating drug resistance remains largely unexplored.

Background: Genes related to antigen presentation pathway, which are in the non-classical class-II region of human leukocyte antigen (HLA), play a vital role during the infection of hepatitis C virus (HCV).

Methods: The current study determined the genotypes of 34 tagging-SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) from 9 candidate genes (HLA-DMA, HLA-DMB, HLA-DOA, HLA-DOB, TAP1, TAP2, LMP2, LMP7, and tapasin) in a Chinese population of paid blood donors with high risk of HCV infection. The distributions of those SNPs were compared among the 1207 former paid blood donors with different HCV infection outcomes.

Background: The aim of this article is to explore the clinical effects between open extraperitoneal approaches and totally extraperitoneal laparoscopic hernioplasty (TEP) in the repair of inguinal hernias.

Methods: The electronic databases Pubmed, Medline, Embase, Web of science and the Cochrane Library were used to search for articles from January 1992 to March 2013. The present meta-analysis pooled the effects of outcomes of a total of 1157 patients with 1377 hernias enrolled into 10 randomized controlled trials and 2 comparative studies.

Shen-Fu attenuates endotoxin-induced acute lung injury in rats.

Am J Chin Med

October 2006

Department of Anesthesiology, The People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province, The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing 210029, China.

Sepsis is associated with the highest risk of progression to acute lung injury or acute respiratory distress syndrome. Shen-Fu has been advocated to treat many severely ill patients. Our study was designed to investigate the effect of Shen-Fu on endotoxin-induced acute lung injury in vivo.
