To investigate the effect of adenovirus-mediated shRNA down-regulating phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) expression on vinculin, filamin A, and cortactin in activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). Activated rats hepatic stellate cell line (HSC-T6) was cultured in vitro. Recombinant adenovirus Ad-shRNA/PTEN carrying PTEN targeted RNA interference sequence [short hairpin RNA (shRNA)] and empty control virus Ad-GFP were transfected into HSCs.

The efficiency and safety of oral tranexamic acid in total hip arthroplasty: A meta-analysis.

Background: Intravenous (IV), topical and combination of both application of tranexamic acid (TXA) can reduce blood loss, hemoglobin drop, and transfusion rate in patients following total hip arthroplasty (THA). Lately, published articles reported that oral TXA had as similar blood-saving as IV and topical TXA in THA. The purpose of this meta-analysis is to investigate the efficiency and safety of oral TXA in THA.

Cell Division Cycle Associated 8 Is a Key Regulator of Tamoxifen Resistance in Breast Cancer.

Purpose: Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most common malignancies globally, and millions of women worldwide are diagnosed with BC every year. Up to 70% of BC patients are estrogen receptor (ER)-positive. Numerous studies have shown that tamoxifen has a significant therapeutic effect on both primary and metastatic ER-positive BC patients.

CDCA8 is a key mediator of estrogen-stimulated cell proliferation in breast cancer cells.

Endocrine therapy is effective in the early stage of breast cancer treatment, and most tumor cells will gain the ability to proliferate under residual amounts of estrogen, which will cause the recurrence of the disease. The role of cell division cycle associated 8 (CDCA8) in Estradiol (E2)-stimulated breast cancer cells growth is investigated in this research. CDCA8 showed higher mRNA expression in E2-stimulated MCF7 and T47D cells, and such an increase could also be observed in tumor samples.

Insufficient trophoblast migration/invasion is associated with the preeclampsia (PE) development. Recently, microRNAs (miRNAs) have been confirmed to be involved in the pathogenesis of PE. The aim of the present study was to evaluate whether miRNAs is involved in the procession of PE by regulating the migration/invasion of trophoblast.

Objective: To investigate the relative expression of long non-coding RNA 00673 (lncRNA 00673) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and HCC cells and study its regulation on the malignant phenotype of HCC cells PATIENTS AND METHODS: Samples of HCC and adjacent tissues from January 2013 to December 2015 were collected. The expression level of lncRNA00673 in HCC tissues and cells was detected by quantitative Real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) assays. lncRNA00673 specific interference sequences were transiently transfected into HCC cells and the effect of HCC cells on the biological behavior of HCC cells was examined by in vitro experiments ((3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT assay), flow cytometry, transwell, etc.

Effect of vacuum sealing drainage in dermatoplasty of large area of cutaneous defects.

Objectives: To investigate the clinical effect of vacuum sealing drainage in dermatoplasty of large area of cutaneous defects in comparison to conventional treatment.

Methods: 80 patients with large area of cutaneous defects were enrolled in this study, and they had received superficial thickness dermatoplasty. Then these patients were randomly divided into two groups based on follow-up treatments: vacuum sealing drainage (defined as group A, 40 cases) and conventional treatment (defined as group B, 40 cases).

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the fracture resistances and failure modes of endodontically treated mandibular premolars restored with endocrowns and conventional post-core retained crowns.

Materials And Methods: Thirty mandibular premolars were assigned into three groups (n=10): GI, intact teeth; GE, teeth with endocrowns; GC, teeth with conventional post-core supported crowns. Except for the teeth in group GI, all specimens were cut to 1.

Higher expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 and its receptor in brain tissue of intractable epilepsy patients.

We aimed to explore the pathogenesis of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP1) and CC chemokine receptor 2 (CCR2) in brain tissue of patients with intractable epilepsy (IE). Hippocampi or temporal lobe tissues were obtained from 40 patients with IE and five patients without IE who had undergone surgical decompression and debridement. The levels of MCP1 and CCR2 were evaluated using immunohistochemistry.

[Use of postoperative enteral immunonutrition in malnutrition patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumor].

Objective: To explore the effects of postoperative enteral immunonutrition on inflammatory response and immunologic function in patients with gastrointestinal tumor.

Methods: Clinical data of 106 gastrointestinal malignant tumor patients with malnutrition who were treated in the Department of General Surgery, the People's Hospital of Cangzhou in Hebei province from January 2008 to June 2010 were prospectively collected. Patients were randomized into two groups, including enteral immunonutrition group(n=53) and common enteral nutrition group(n=53).
