Liposarcoma is the most prevalent sarcoma in adults representing 20% of all sarcomas with well-differentiated/dedifferentiated among the most common subtypes represented. Despite multimodality treatment approaches, there has not been any appreciable change in survival benefit in the past 10 years. The future of targeted therapy for WD/DDLPS is promising with the intention to spare multi-visceral removal due to radical surgical resection.

Background: The lifetime risk of pancreatic cancer in women with a germline mutation in BRCA1 and BRCA2 is not well established. In an international prospective cohort of female carriers of BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations, the cumulative incidence of pancreatic cancer from age 40 until 80 years was estimated.
Methods: A total of 8295 women with a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation were followed for new cases of pancreatic cancer.

COVID-19 is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and is associated with hypercoagulability and increased incidence of thrombotic events. In this study, we investigated the levels of neutrophil extracellular trap biomarkers and von Willebrand factor to assess if these could predict the occurrence of a thrombotic event in COVID-19 patients. We enrolled 202 patients hospitalized with symptomatic COVID-19 infection.

Purpose: Breast lymphedema after post-lumpectomy radiation therapy (RT) is poorly defined and difficult to treat. The aim of this study was to define the incidence of breast lymphedema and identify factors associated with the risk of developing breast lymphedema (BL) in women undergoing breast-conserving therapy.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study of patients with early-stage breast cancer who underwent breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy) followed by RT between January 1, 2014 and July 31, 2019 at a single institution.

Background: Adolescents are at high risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and frequently present to emergency departments (EDs) for care. Screening for STIs using confidential patient-reported outcomes represents an ideal use of electronic screening methodology.
Objectives: The objectives of this study were to implement a patient-facing, confidential electronic survey to assess adolescent risk for STIs and consent for testing with integrated provider facing electronic clinical decision support (CDS) across six geographically dispersed pediatric EDs and evaluate implementation based on survey and CDS usage metrics.

With the increasing availability of large-scale multimodal neuroimaging datasets, it is necessary to develop data fusion methods which can extract cross-modal features. A general framework, multidataset independent subspace analysis (MISA), has been developed to encompass multiple blind source separation approaches and identify linked cross-modal sources in multiple datasets. In this work, we utilized the multimodal independent vector analysis (MMIVA) model in MISA to directly identify meaningful linked features across three neuroimaging modalities-structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), resting state functional MRI and diffusion MRI-in two large independent datasets, one comprising of control subjects and the other including patients with schizophrenia.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most frequently diagnosed form of skin cancer, and its incidence continues to rise, particularly among older individuals. This trend puts a significant strain on health care systems, especially in terms of histopathologic diagnostics required for Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS), which is used to treat BCC in sensitive locations to minimize tissue loss. This study aims to address the challenges in BCC detection within MMS whole-slide images by developing and evaluating a deep learning model that bridges weakly supervised learning with interpretable segmentation-based methods through attention maps.

As the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents a significant global health challenge. This paper provides an introduction and comprehensive review of transarterial radioembolization (TARE) with Yttrium-90 (Y90), a widely performed transcatheter procedure for HCC patients who are not suitable candidates for surgery. TARE involves the targeted delivery of radioactive microspheres to liver tumors, offering a promising treatment option for managing HCC across various stages of the disease.

Background: The Ohio Opportunity Index (OOI) is a multidimensional metric used to quantify neighborhood-level resources to access a wide array of factors that influence health. This study examined the relationship between neighborhood opportunity and completion of guideline-concordant hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) screening in patients with cirrhosis.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients with cirrhosis and HCC who received care at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center between 1/1/2015 and 12/31/2021.

Thermal proteome profiling (TPP) is an innovative technique that uses the principle of protein thermal stability to identify potential protein interaction partners. Employing quantitative mass spectrometry, TPP measures protein stability across the proteome, offering a comprehensive snapshot of protein interactions in a single experiment. When studying protein-protein interactions (PPI), TPP leverages changes in apparent protein melting temperatures to identify transient and weak interactions that most traditional PPI detection methodologies struggle to measure.

To assess left atrial (LA) strain parameters using cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging feature tracking (cardiac MRI-FT) for differentiating hypertensive heart disease (HHD) from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), which are two left ventricular hypertrophic diseases that could present with similar morphologies in early stage but differ in clinical symptoms and treatment strategies. 45 patients with HHD, 85 patients with HCM (non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy [HNCM, n = 45] and obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy [HOCM, n = 40]) and 30 healthy controls (HC) were retrospectively included. LA volumes, strain, and strain rate were determined by manually contouring on the two- and four-chamber views of the CMR-FT module using CVI 42 software.

Contemporary lymphoma radiation target volumes that rely on post-systemic therapy imaging do not have standardised nomenclature. A forum of radiation oncology lymphoma leaders from the National Clinical Trials Network groups (NRG Oncology, Children's Oncology Group, SWOG Cancer Research Network, Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group-American College of Radiology Imaging Network Cancer Research Group, and the Canadian Cancer Trials Group) was convened and established standardised nomenclature for these volumes in the autumn of 2024. Involved-site radiotherapy includes the full cranial-caudal extent of prechemotherapy disease and takes into account axial anatomical changes only.

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) are increasingly being recognized as tools with the potential to transform many industries, including health care. Implementation and use of these tools among radiologists is likely variable, driven by radiology practice and institutional factors. Radiologists from various practices were asked about their perspectives on generative AI and LLMs in radiology.

Background: The implications of pulmonary vein (PV) flow patterns in patients with heart failure (HF) and mitral regurgitation (MR) are uncertain. We examined PV flow patterns in the Cardiovascular Outcomes Assessment of the MitraClip Percutaneous Therapy for Heart Failure Patients With Functional Mitral Regurgitation (COAPT) trial (NCT01626079), in which patients with HF and moderate-to-severe or severe functional MR were randomized to transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) with the MitraClip device plus guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) vs. GDMT alone.
