Background: A hallmark of psychostimulants is the persistence of neurobiological changes they produce. The difficulty in reversing long-time effects of psychostimulants use is why addiction therapy is so ineffective. This study aimed to look for such drug-induced changes that can be detected even after many weeks of abstinence.

Peritoneal carcinomatosis, which is the most common malignant process of the peritoneal cavity, originates mostly from colorectal, gastric, and gynaecological malignancies. The differential diagnosis is broad and covers primary peritoneal malignancies, as well as many benign disorders such as endometriosis, and inflammatory and infectious diseases. Peritoneal implants tend to locate in the areas of the physiological stasis of the peritoneal fluid: pelvic peritoneal reflections, right and left paracolic gutters, superior part of the sigmoid mesocolon, ileocolic area, and the right subdiaphragmatic space.

The purpose of this study is to show the actual recommendations for dose management and provide an overview of the available options for dose tracking and dose optimization. The legal institutions that supervise the radiological exposure of patients and their most important directives are presented. A literature review of existing diagnostic reference levels for computed tomography (CT), interventional radiology, radiography, paediatric radiography, mammography, and fluoroscopy in Europe and Poland was carried out.

Background: Vedolizumab is a gut-selective anti-lymphocyte trafficking agent used to treat ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease.
Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness, safety, and durability of the therapeutic effect of vedolizumab after treatment discontinuation in a real-world cohort of patients with UC treated in Poland.
Design: This was a multicenter, prospective study involving patients with moderate to severely active UC from 12 centers in Poland who qualified for reimbursed treatment with vedolizumab between February and November 2019.

Neuroendocrine neoplasms of the small intestine (SI-NENs) are one of the most commonly recognized gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP-NENs). Carcinoid heart disease (CHD) is the primary cause of death in patients with the carcinoid syndrome (CS). The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate possible factors impacting upon overall survival (OS) in subjects with both neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) G1/G2 of the small intestine (SI-NET) and CHD.

Background The implementation of next-generation sequencing (NGS) into daily practice allows for the identification of a greater number of molecular abnormalities. We aimed to confirm the benefits of immunotherapy in the group of patients with KRAS aberrations treated within clinical practice. Methods This study was a retrospective analysis of the patients (pts) treated in routine practice within the National Drug Programme in Poland.

Background: Awareness of the potential global overtreatment of patients with appendiceal neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) of 1-2 cm in size by performing oncological resections is increasing, but the rarity of this tumour has impeded clear recommendations to date. We aimed to assess the malignant potential of appendiceal NETs of 1-2 cm in size in patients with or without right-sided hemicolectomy.
Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we pooled data from 40 hospitals in 15 European countries for patients of any age and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status with a histopathologically confirmed appendiceal NET of 1-2 cm in size who had a complete resection of the primary tumour between Jan 1, 2000, and Dec 31, 2010.

The use of machine learning algorithms (ML) in radiotherapy is becoming increasingly popular. More and more groups are trying to apply ML in predicting the so-called gamma passing rate (GPR). Our team has developed a customized approach of using ML algorithms to predict global GPR for electronic portal imaging device (EPID) verification for dose different 2% and distance to agreement 2 mm criteria for VMAT dynamic plans.

Introduction: Biopsy of facial skin lesions is an important supplement to dermatological diagnostics, especially in doubtful cases or suspected of being malignant.
Objectives: The aim of the retrospective study of 2135 histopathological records of lesions on the face was to: establish the most common indications for a skin biopsy in patients with facial lesions, establish the frequency of histopathological diagnoses, evaluate how often clinically suspected inflammatory lesions are identified as tumors in histopathology, evaluate the accuracy of clinical diagnoses of the most common skin tumors and dermatoses.
Methods: It was a retrospective study.

Uterine sarcomas occur very rarely in young women. Hysterectomy, which is a standard treatment, may not be acceptable for those patients, especially nulliparous women. Fertility-sparing management may be an alternative.

The aim of this study was to assess the usefulness of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) concentrations as a prognostic factor in patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms and to determine the relationship between NSE and clinicopathological features. Serum NSE levels were measured in 179 NEN patients before treatment. It was found that NSE levels in patients with a primary pancreatic location were higher compared to patients with a small intestine lesion (P = 0.

A better understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of thymic epithelial tumours (TETs) could revolutionise their treatment. We evaluated thymomas and thymic carcinomas by next-generation sequencing (NGS) of somatic or germline single nucleotide variants (SNVs) in genes commonly mutated in solid tumours. In total, 19 thymomas and 34 thymic carcinomas were analysed for nonsynonymous SNVs in 15 genes by targeted NGS (reference genome: hg19/GRCh37).

Trastuzumab-induced cardiotoxicity (TIC) can lead to early treatment discontinuation. The aim of this study was to evaluate: N-terminal brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB), myoglobin, and selected biochemical and clinical factors as predictors of TIC. One hundred and thirty patients with HER2-positive BC receiving adjuvant trastuzumab therapy (TT) were enrolled.

Climate change and the destruction of ecosystems by human activities are among the greatest challenges of the 21st century and require urgent action. Health care activities significantly contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases and waste production, with gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy being one of the largest contributors. This Position Statement aims to raise awareness of the ecological footprint of GI endoscopy and provides guidance to reduce its environmental impact.

False negative (FN) results in cervical cancer (CC) screening pose serious risks to women. We present a comprehensive literature review on the risks and reasons of obtaining the FN results of primary CC screening tests and triage methods and discuss their clinical and public health impact and implications. Misinterpretation or true lack of abnormalities on a slide are the reasons of FN results in cytology and p16/Ki-67 dual-staining.
