Brachytherapy (BT) plays a key role in cancer treatment by delivering a high dose to a small volume over a short time. The use of BT is currently validated in a wide range of cancers such as cervical, prostate and breast cancers while being a favourable choice for organ preservation, such as in penile or rectal cancer, or in the setting of reirradiation. Consideration of the radiobiology of BT is integral to the choices made around dose and fractionation and combination with other techniques such as external beam radiotherapy (EBRT).

Epithelioid inflammatory myofibroblastic sarcoma (EIMS) is a rare and aggressive subtype of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor. The disease is associated with rearrangements of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK). In this paper, we present the clinicopathological features and treatment of a female patient diagnosed with EIMS.

Purpose: Colorectal cancer cells containing mobile lipids are said to be an early indicator of chemotherapy effects. The objective of the study was to examine the frequency and clinical relevance of intratumoral fat deposition in colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) post-chemotherapy using dual-echo chemical shift gradient-echo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 98 patients with CRLM diagnosed between 2017 and 2022 (69 M, mean age 62.

Background: Poly (ADP-ribose) inhibitors, including olaparib, upregulate programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1), which may increase efficacy of anti-PD-(L)1 therapies.
Methods: In the phase 3 KEYLYNK-006 trial (NCT03976323), eligible adults with previously untreated metastatic nonsquamous NSCLC without targetable genetic alterations who had complete response (CR), partial response (PR), or stable disease (SD) following induction therapy with 4 cycles of pembrolizumab 200 mg Q3W, pemetrexed 500 mg/m , and carboplatin AUC5 or cisplatin 75 mg/m were randomized 1:1 to olaparib 300 mg orally twice daily or pemetrexed Q3W, both given with ≤31 cycles of pembrolizumab Q3W. Dual primary endpoints were progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).

During a fatal disease, patients often request updated information on their prognosis. After patients have already survived a certain time, conditional survival captures their future survival probability. We investigated conditional overall and failure-free survival in 473 younger mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) patients from a randomized phase III trial comparing immunochemotherapies R-CHOP and alternating R-CHOP/R-DHAP before autologous transplantation.

Brain metastases (BM) are the most common intracranial malignancies. They are responsible for death as well as impairment of quality of life and cognitive function. In some cases, BMs can cause intracranial hemorrhage, which is not only responsible for the acute onset of either a new focal neurological deficit or worsening of a preexisting focal deficit but also poses a new challenge in treatment planning and clinical management.

The presence and extent of metastatic disease in axillary lymph nodes (ALNs) in the setting of breast cancer (BC) are important factors for staging and therapy planning. The purpose of this study was to perform a multiparametric sonographic evaluation of ALNs to better differentiate between benign and metastatic nodes. Ninety-nine patients (mean age 54.

Background: The liver is affected by two groups of malignant tumours: primary liver cancers and liver metastases. Liver metastases are significantly more common than primary liver cancer, and five-year survival after radical surgical treatment of liver metastases ranges from 28% to 50%, depending on primary cancer site. However, R0 resection (resection for cure) is not feasible in most people; therefore, other treatments have to be considered in the case of non-resectability.

The efficacy of pembrolizumab in the treatment-naïve non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients was proved in the KEYNOTE-024 randomized trial. The aim of this systematic literature review was to identify and summarize the real world evidence (RWE) of overall survival (OS) in previously untreated patients with NSCLC receiving pembrolizumab monotherapy. A systematic search was conducted in PubMed (MEDLINE®) and EMBASE databases.

Purpose Of Review: The goal of this paper is to summarize the data pertaining to the use of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT-2i) for the prevention of cardiotoxicity in patients receiving anthracyclines for cancer treatment. We discuss the potential efficacy of this class of medications, incorporating insights from existing literature and ongoing studies.
Recent Findings: SGLT2i are a class of medications which were initially developed for treatment of Type 2 diabetes and later extended to treat heart failure with reduced and preserved ejection fraction regardless of diabetes status.

Background: People with cancer who have completed treatment still experience negative effects, such as an increased risk of experiencing cancer-related pain. Psychological factors tend to influence cancer patients' ability to cope with pain in various dimensions. Although personal resources are an important factor in buffering total pain, still little is known about the intervening variables and underlying mechanisms.

Background And Objective: Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is still controversial in ovarian cancer (OC) management. Doubts are related mainly to HIPEC effectiveness, but also to its safety. European Society of Medical Oncology and European Society of Gynecologic Oncology do not consider HIPEC as a standard of care.

Chronic inflammation is a hallmark of cancer cachexia. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω-3 PUFAs): eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are known to contribute to the reduction of inflammation, preservation of lean body mass and total body weight, and reduction of cancer-related symptoms, such as anorexia or neuropathy. This systematic review aimed to assess whether the ratio of EPA to DHA used in supplementation in cancer patients matters in the context of the resolution of inflammation and reduction of the risk of cachexia.

Background: The TRS‑483, an IAEA/AAPM International Code of Practice on dosimetry of small static photon fields, underwent testing via an IAEA coordinated research project (CRP). Alongside small field output factors (OFs) measurements using active dosimeters by CRP participants, the IAEA Dosimetry Laboratory received a mandate to formulate a remote small field dosimetry audit method using its passive dosimetry systems.
Purpose: This work aimed to develop a small field dosimetry audit methodology employing radiophotoluminescent dosimeters (RPLDs) and radiochromic films.

Most of the currently used cancer immunotherapies inhibit the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD1)-programmed cell death 1 ligand 1 (PDL1) axis of T-cells. However, dendritic cells (DCs) controlled by natural killer (NK) cells via the FMS-related tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) axis are necessary for activation of T-cells. The aim of the study was to evaluate FLT3 as a prognostic factor and determine its role in immune infiltration (with emphasis on NK cells and DCs).

Introduction: Pembrolizumab combined with chemotherapy has become the standard of care for patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and the expression of programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) in <50% of tumour cells (TC).
Methods: We evaluated the efficacy of the treatment in real-world practice, paying attention to the predictive factors, with a special focus on low level of PD-L1 expression. This study is a multicenter retrospective analysis of patients with stage IV NSCLC.
