Background: The low-pressure, hypoxic environment characteristic of high-altitude regions significantly affects the cardiovascular and autonomic nervous system functions of individuals, consequently impairing their sleep quality. Heart rate variability, a non-invasive indicator of autonomic nervous system activity and balance within the cardiovascular system, has not been thoroughly investigated in terms of its patterns during acclimatization and de-acclimatization phases for individuals traveling to and residing in high-altitude areas and its relationship with sleep stability.

Methods: Data was collected from 22 medical staff members who traveled from Chengdu to Yecheng, with measurements taken before leaving Chengdu, 1 week in Yecheng, 3 months in Yecheng, and 1 week after returning to Chengdu.

The endocannabinoid system in the brain undergoes long-lasting changes following neuropathic pain.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is composed of endocannabinoids (eCBs), cannabinoid receptors (CBRs), and associated signaling molecules, has been identified within the brain. In neuropathic pain animal models and patients, long-lasting alterations in the ECS have been observed. These changes of neurons and glial cells in the ECS contribute to the modulation of neuropathic pain.

Background: The delineation of clinical target volume (CTV) base on the correlation analysis between neck node levels of OCSCC has not been reported in detail. This study analyzes the correlations between the neck node levels in 208 cases of OCSCC, and aims to provide preliminary reference for the CTV delineation in OCSCC patients.

Objectives: To explore the potential financial toxicity (FT) profiles in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) undergoing chemotherapy and analyze its influencing factors.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 373 CRC patients undergoing chemotherapy in southwest China from January 2024 to May 2024. We utilized the General Information Questionnaire, the FT based on Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (COST-PROM), the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (BIPQ), and the Family APGAR Index (APGAR).

C57BL/6J 6-8-week-old male mice were used for TBI model induction and randomized into the normal altitude group and the 5000-m high-altitude (HA) group, each group was divided into control (C) and 8h/12h/24h/48h-TBI according to different times post-TBI. Brain water content (BWC) and modified Neurological Severity Score were measured, RTN4 and autophagy-related indexes (Beclin1, LC3B, and SQSTM1/p62) were detected by western blot, immunofluorescence technique, and PCR in peri-injury cortical tissues.

Our previous paper showed that FAT1 decreased acute myeloid leukemia (AML) autophagy by inhibiting the TGFβ-Smad2/3 pathway. This study builds upon our previous paper and aims to explore whether FAT1-inhibited autophagy is involved in regulating chemosensitivity and immune escape in AML.

Prompt Diagnosis and Treatment of Japanese Spotted Fever with an Atypical Triad of Clinical Symptoms: A Case Report.

Japanese spotted fever (JSF) is a neglected and potentially fatal infectious disease. Delays in diagnosis and treatment of JSF are important causes of poor prognosis. We report a case of JSF in a 75-year-old farmer who, following autumn field work in Sichuan, China, presented with an atypical triad of clinical symptoms: high fever, petechial rash, and notably no eschar.

Background: Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is characterized by rapid onset, rapid development and a high short-term mortality rate. Systemic inflammation exerts an effect on the disease progression of ACLF.

Objectives: The purposes of this study were to explore the clinical significance that the inflammatory response has on the disease process of hepatitis B virus acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) patients, to further compare the values of different inflammation-related biomarkers in the prognosis evaluation of HBV-ACLF patients, and to combine inflammatory-related markers to establish a new prediction model.

Background: Ultrasound‑guided vacuum-assisted excision (UGVAE) and breast biopsy are widely used for the diagnosis and treatment of both benign and suspicious breast lesions. In this retrospective study, we aimed to determine the safety of UGVAE for benign breast lesions and provide guidance for clinical practice.

Methods: We analyzed clinical and pathological data of female patients who had undergone UGVAE between January 2015 and December 2017 at our institution.

Clinical features of pituitary carcinoma: analysis based on a case report and literature review.

Introduction: Pituitary carcinoma (PC) is an extremely rare tumor of the adenohypophysis, which manifests as craniospinal dissemination and/or systemic metastasis. The diagnosis of PC is particularly difficult, as the clinical diagnosis only can be made after the metastasis is found. Owing to the complex diagnostic process and less effective treatments, the clinical prognosis of PC is usually very poor.

Epigenetic modifications associated to diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (Review).

The present review aimed to provide an update on the scientific progress of the role of epigenetic modifications on diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (DPNP). DPNP is a devastating and troublesome complication of diabetes mellitus (DM), which affects one third of patients with DM and causes severe hyperalgesia and allodynia, leading to challenges in the treatment of these patients. The pathophysiology of DPNP is multifactorial and is not yet fully understood and treatment options for this disease are currently unsatisfactory.

The clinical prospects and challenges of photothermal nanomaterials in myocardium recovery after myocardial infarction.

The high morbidity and mortality rates associated with myocardial infarction pose a serious threat to human health. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are crucial in saving the lives of patients. In recent years, nanomaterials-based technologies have played a significant role in developing new strategies for cardiac repair, particularly in the use of photothermal nanomaterials, which show great potential in treating myocardial infarction.
