Background: Accurate bilirubin measurements are essential for appropriate management of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and reliability of whole blood bilirubin measurements obtained using a Roche blood gas analyzer (Roche TBiL), with total serum bilirubin (TSB) measurements determined by the Ortho VITROS 4600 chemistry system (Ortho TSB) serving as a reference.

Materials And Methods: Medical records of hospitalized neonates that underwent simultaneous Roche TBiL and Ortho TSB measurements were reviewed for eligibility selection and data collection.

Ferroptosis plays a critical role in different types of cancers, but the prognostic impact of ferroptosis in cutaneous melanoma remains lacking. Therefore, ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) were firstly obtained from the FerrDb database and the differentially expressed FRGs were identified by the "limma" algorithm. Next, the prognostic differentially expressed FRGs were screened out by univariate Cox regression, which were subsequently used to cluster melanomas into two subtypes (clusters A and B).

Retrospective Study of Factors Affecting Efficacy of Therapy with Dye Pulsed Light for Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea.

Dermatol Ther (Heidelb)

December 2020

Department of Dermatology and Venereology, The General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, No. 154 Anshan Road, Heping District, Tianjin, 300052, China.

Introduction: Dye pulsed light (DPL) was proven to be effective at treating erythematous and telangiectatic skin disorders. However, there are limited data on the efficacy of DPL treatment for erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR), and researchers do not fully understand the factors that may affect the efficacy. Here, we performed a study to investigate the efficacy of DPL treatment for ETR and determine the factors affecting that efficacy.

MicroRNA 27b promotes cardiac fibrosis by targeting the FBW7/Snail pathway.

Aging (Albany NY)

December 2019

Department of Cardiology, The 2nd Medical Centre, PLA General Hospital, Beijing, China.

Our study aspires to understand the impact of miR-27b on myocardial fibrosis as well as its functional mechanism. 12 days post the ligation of coronary artery in rats, the expression of miR-27b in the peri-infarction region was elevated. Treating cultivated rat neonatal cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) with angiotensin II (AngII) also enhanced the miR-27b expression.

Background: Although stigma is considered to be present in stroke patients, the factors that influence its level are ambiguous. The aim of this study was to investigate whether certain demographic, clinical, and psychosocial characteristics are related to higher levels of stigma among stroke patients in China.

Methods: A total of 200 stroke patients in the community were investigated using the Stigma Scale for Chronic Illness (SSCI), Barthel Index, Self-Rating Depression Scale, Medical Moping Questionnaire, and Social Support Rating Scale.

Introduction: Successful ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) management is time-sensitive and is based on prompt reperfusion mainly to reduce patient mortality. It has evolved from a single hospital care to an integrated regional network approach over the last decades. This prospective study, named the China STEMI Care Project (CSCAP), aims to show how implementation of different types of integrated regional STEMI care networks can improve the reperfusion treatment rate, shorten the total duration of myocardial ischaemia and lead to mortality reduction step by step.

Background: Because there has been no quality improvement initiatives targeting patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) receiving basal insulin therapy, this study evaluated the effectiveness of physician-targeted education for optimizing glycemic management in these patients in China.

Methods: This multicenter open-label observational study conducted across China had a baseline sample survey, followed by a 6-month education program, and ended with a post-education sample survey. Education based on T2D treatment guidelines was given at Months 1 and 3, and was reinforced by self-audit every month.

Central nervous system (CNS) diseases are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality; their treatment, however, remains constrained by the blood-brain barrier (BBB) that impedes the access of most therapeutics to the brain. A CNS delivery platform for protein therapeutics, which is achieved by encapsulating the proteins within nanocapsules that contain choline and acetylcholine analogues, is reported herein. Mediated by nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and choline transporters, such nanocapsules can effectively penetrate the BBB and deliver the therapeutics to the CNS, as demonstrated in mice and non-human primates.

The present study aimed to investigate the effects of low‑dose lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)‑induced brain injury, and to explore the mechanism of phosphoinositide 3‑kinase (PI3K)/Akt/forkhead box protein (Fox)O1 signaling pathway. Male Sprague‑Dawley rats were divided into control group (control), ischemia/reperfusion surgery group (I/R) and low‑dose LPS treatment group (LPS). An I/R model was established and the hemodynamic parameters were recorded at the end of I/R injury.
