Objective: To investigate the value of (18)F fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography ((18)F FDG-PET-CT) in the diagnosis and the evaluation of disease activity and remission of dermatomyositis(DM).

Methods: DM patients who were admitted to the Department of Rheumatology, the People's Liberation Army General Hospital (PLAGH) and underwent (18)F FDG-PET-CT examination were retrospectively reviewed from January 2012 to May 2015.Gender and age matched healthy controls (HC) were also enrolled.

Advances in skin regeneration have resulted in techniques and products that have allowed regeneration of both the dermis and epidermis. Yet complete skin regeneration requires the adnexal skin structures. Thus it is crucial to understand the regenerative potential of hair follicles where genetic, nutritional, and hormonal influences have important effects and are critical for skin regeneration.

Inhibition of metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 suppresses tumor growth and angiogenesis in experimental non-small cell lung cancer.

Metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 (mGlu1 receptor) is expressed in many cancer cell types as compared to normal counterparts underscoring its potential role in tumor behavior. The aim of present study was to test the role of mGlu1 receptor in experimental non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). First, protein expression of mGlu1 receptor was higher in human NSCLC cell lines, including both adenocarcinoma and squamous carcinoma subtypes, when compared to normal bronchial epithelial cells.

An aberrant artery (AA) can frequently be observed coursing through the fissure for the ligamentum venosum (FLV) which was termed the "vessel through strait" sign (VTSS) by us. Fundamental data including the incidence, anatomical composition and clinical significance of VTSS and the AAs composing VTSS are still lacking. We sought to give a systematic demonstration on this issue in the present study.

Application of parallel stent placement in the treatment of unruptured vertebrobasilar fusiform aneurysms.

OBJECTIVE Large vertebrobasilar fusiform aneurysms (VFAs) represent a small subset of intracranial aneurysms and are often among the most difficult to treat. Current surgical and endovascular techniques fail to achieve a complete or acceptable result because of complications, including late-onset basilar artery thrombosis and perforator infarction. The parallel-stent placement technique was established in the authors' department, and this study reports the application of this technique in the treatment of unruptured VFAs.

[A multicenter, randomized, controlled, phase Ⅲ clinical study of PEG-rhG-CSF for preventing chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in patients with breast cancer and non-small cell lung cancer].

Objective: To explore the safety and efficacy of pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (PEG-rhG-CSF) in preventing chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in patients with breast cancer and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and to provide the basis for clinical application.

Methods: According to the principle of open-label, randomized, parallel-group controlled clinical trial, all patients were randomized by 1∶1∶1 into three groups to receive PEG-rhG-CSF 100 μg/kg, PEG-rhG-CSF 6 mg, or rhG-CSF 5 μg/kg, respectively. The patients with breast cancer received two chemotherapy cycles, and the NSCLC patients received 1-2 cycles of chemotherapy according to their condition.

Analysis of the Clinical Characteristics of Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome in Different States of Renal Function.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of chronic kidney dysfunction (CKD) on the clinical characteristics of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and the degree of coronary arterial stenosis. The study enrolled 368 patients with ACS who underwent coronary angiography. Blood glucose, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), total cholesterol, triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), uric acid (UA), and serum creatinine were examined randomly, and the severity of coronary artery lesions was assessed using the Gensini score.

Diacylglycerol kinases ζ (DGKζ) is a critical lipid kinase which is involved in phosphatidic acid (PA) generation via diacylglycerol (DAG) phosphorylation. Foxp3-expressing sensitized Teff cells prolong survival of corneal allograft in corneal allograft transplantation mouse model.

Objective: The study aimed to investigate whether Foxp3-expressing sensitized Teff cells could inhibit allograft rejection in corneal allograft transplantation mouse model.

Methods: Foxp3-expressing sensitized Teff cells were constructed by transfection of retroviral expression plasmid expressing Foxp3 into the sensi-Teff cells from a Balb/c mouse immunized by C57BL/6(H2b) mouse splenocytes. Balb/c mice were randomly divided into 5 groups: Four groups received tail vein injection of Foxp3-expressing sensitized Teff cells, or Foxp3-expressing Teff cells, or Treg cells or no intervention 1 day prior to corneal allograft transplantation.

Genetic variations in genes of metabolic enzymes predict postoperational prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer.

Background: Genetic alterations in tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle metabolic enzymes were recently linked to various cancers. However, the associations of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes of these enzymes have not been well studied.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a major cause of thromboembolic (TE) events including stroke and transient ischemic attacks, catheter radiofrequency ablation (CA) has been demonstrated to effectively eliminate AF in majority of patients. During the peri-procedural CA of AF, dabigatran, a reversible direct thrombin inhibitor, has been proved as safe and efficacy as warfarin in the prevention of thromboembolic complication. However, for patients with CHADS2 score ≥3, sometimes dabigatran may not be an ideal substitute of warfarin.

Downregulation of the expression of HDGF attenuates malignant biological behaviors of hilar cholangiocarcinoma cells.

Hepatoma-derived growth factor (HDGF) has been reported to be a potential predictive and prognostic marker for several types of cancer and important in malignant biological behaviors. However, its role in human hilar cholangiocarcinoma remains to be elucidated. Our previous study demonstrated that high expression levels of HDGF in hilar cholangiocarcinoma tissues correlates with tumor progression and patient outcome.

[Diagnosis and treatment for complicated gastrointestinal stromal tumors].

Tyrosine kinase inhibitor(TKI) combined with surgical treatment is the optimal strategy for gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST). However, there is no systemic report about the complicated GIST(recurrence or metastasis, peritoneal dissemination, combined resection of multiple organs), except the cases review and experimental studies. Tyrosine kinase inhibitor combined with surgery may increase the overall survival of complicated GIST.

Incidence and related clinical factors of falls among older Chinese veterans in military communities: a prospective study.

[Purpose] The aim of this study was to determine fall incidence and explore clinical factors of falls among older Chinese veterans in military communities. [Subjects and Methods] We carried out a 12-month prospective study among 13 military communities in Beijing, China. Fall events were obtained by self-report to military community liaisons and monthly telephone interviews by researchers.

Short segment screw fixation without fusion in treatment for unstable thoracolumbar burst fracture.

This study aims to evaluate clinical efficacy of short segment pedicle screw fixation without bone fusion for unstable thoracolumbar burst fracture. Nineteen patients younger than 40 years old with unstable thoracolumbar burst fractures were included. The surgical procedure included postural reduction for 3 days and screw fixations at one level above, one level below and at the fractured level itself.

[Validation of standardized uptake values for ¹⁸F-FDG in normal organs: comparison of whole-body PET/CT and PET/MRI].

Objective: To validate whether PET/MR could provide a semi-quantitative measurement (SUV(max)) comparable to that produced by PET/CT in normal organs.

Methods: 277 subjects underwent an ordinary ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT followed by a PET/MR scan with a 25-45 min interval. Region of interest (ROIs) were drawn in 4 reference normal organs/tissues in both MRAC-PET and CTAC-PET images and the liver and erector spinae in the dual-time point PET/CT images.

Mechanical properties and cytocompatibility of carbon fibre reinforced nano-hydroxyapatite/polyamide66 ternary biocomposite.

Background And Methods: Fibre-reinforced composites with good strength and ductility as bone repair biomaterials have been attracting increasing attention in biomedical applications. In the present study, a novel ternary composite was prepared using carbon fibre (CF) to reinforce a nano-hydroxyapatite/polyamide66 composite (HA/PA). The interface and mechanical strength of the ternary composite (CF/HA/PA) were characterised.

Effects of intensive insulin therapy combined with low molecular weight heparin anticoagulant therapy on severe pancreatitis.

The current study explored the effects of intensive insulin therapy (IIT) combined with low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) anticoagulant therapy on severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). A total of 134 patients with SAP that received treatment between June 2008 and June 2012 were divided randomly into groups A (control; n=33), B (IIT; n=33), C (LMWH; n=34) and D (IIT + LMWH; n=34). Group A were treated routinely.
