[Introduction of critical care database based on specialized information systems: a model of critical care medicine database in large Level III Grade A hospital].

Objective: To further improve the department information system, and to establish a multi-parameter critical care medicine database, which can provide data for the analysis and research of big data in critical care medicine, and provide references for other medical institutions to establish relevant databases.

Methods: On the premise of fully understanding the needs of clinical and scientific research, based on a Critical Care Medicine Clinical Information System, the department of critical care medicine of the First Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital integrated the patients' case data in hospital information system (HIS), electronic medical records (EMR), monitoring information system (Monitor), laboratory information system (LIS), and radiation information system (RIS), to establish a rudimentary critical care database. On this basis, the related data were analyzed and verified.

In the present study, we studied the relationship between and prognosis in glioma. Expression profiles and methylation data of were obtained from bioinformatic datasets. Correlations between and clinicopathological features and overall survival were respectively assessed using chi-square test and Kaplan-Meier analysis.

Efficacy of cefotaxime combined with gamma globulins on C-reactive protein and procalcitonin in neonatal sepsis.

C-reactive protein (CRP) is encoded by CRP or PTX1 gene and procalcitonin (PCT) is produced by the CALC-1 gene induction. Both PCT and CRP are known as valued biomarkers markers in prediction of Serious Bacterial Infections (SBI) in children. This experiment carried out to analyze the efficacy of cefotaxime combined with gamma globulins on neonatal sepsis and the effect on CRP and PCT.

Transforming growth factor-β promotes the function of HIV-specific CXCR5 CD8 T cells.

HIV replication can be inhibited by CXCR5 CD8 T cells (follicular cytotoxic T cell [TFC]) which transfer into B-cell follicles where latent HIV infection persists. However, how cytokines affect TFC remain unclear. Understanding which cytokines show the ability to affect TFC could be a key strategy toward curing HIV.

Overexpression of cell-cycle related and expression-elevated protein in tumor (CREPT) in malignant cervical cancer.

Objective: To explore the expression of cell-cycle related and expression-elevated protein in tumor (CREPT), cyclin D1, and transcription factor 4 (TCF4) in patients with cervical carcinoma.

Methods: This study enrolled 20 patients with cervical cancer and 10 control patients diagnosed with benign cervical lesions undergoing resection at the People’s Liberation Army General Hospital from January 2016 to December 2017. Cervical tissues were collected from all patients and their clinical characteristics were recorded.

Angelicin inhibits the malignant behaviours of human cervical cancer potentially via inhibiting autophagy.

Angelicin is an active compound isolated from the Chinese herb , which has been reported to exert antitumor effects by inhibiting malignant behaviors in several types of tumor, including proliferation, colony formation, migration and invasion. However, the effects of angelicin on human cervical cancer cells is yet to be elucidated. The present study evaluated the antitumor effects of angelicin on cervical cancer cells.

Auscultation-assisted bedside postpyloric placement of feeding tube in critically ill patients: a prospective, observational study.

Background And Objectives: To assess the efficacy and safety of auscultation-assisted bedside postpyloric feeding tube (ABPFT) placement in early enteral nutritional support for critically ill patients.

Methods And Study Design: A prospective observational study was conducted and 92 critically ill patients who met the inclusion criteria undergoing ABPFT placement after the intravenous injection of 10 mg of metoclopramide were included. Abdominal X-ray was performed to confirm the location of the catheter tip.

Systematic evaluation of the mechanisms of zoledronic acid based on network pharmacology.

Zoledronic acid (ZA) is an FDA-approved drug and a third-generation bisphosphonate (BPs). A systematic evaluation of the mechanisms of ZA has not previously been performed. In this study, validated targets of ZA were screened using PubChem, Herbal Ingredients' Targets Database (HIT), Binding Database (BindingDB), and ChemBank, and potential targets of ZA were identified based on structural characteristics of ligands and proteins.

Effect of ambient air quality on exacerbation of COPD in patients and its potential mechanism.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a disease of continuous progress and environmental factors may affect the progress. COPD patients' activity tolerance and quality of life are associated with air quality. COPD exacerbation from the perspective of geographical air quality has not been reported.

Overexpression of high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) has no correlation with the prognosis in glioma.

We aimed to characterize the role of HMGB1 overexpression in glioma and to evaluate its use as a biomarker. We used the gene expression datasets and tissue microarray to assess the expression levels of HMGB1 among gliomas of all grades; We then assessed its correlation with the malignancy and outcome of glioma. The increase in HMGB1 mRNA and protein levels was found in glioma, but there was no correlation between HMGB1 expression and glioma malignancy, and overall survival and vital status of glioma patients.

Roadmap to functional cure of chronic hepatitis B: An expert consensus.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection continues to be a major public health issue worldwide. HBsAg loss is associated with functional remission and improved long-term outcome, and is considered to be a 'functional cure' (also referred to as clinical or immunologic cure) for chronic hepatitis B. This ideal goal of therapy can be achieved using optimized combination regimens with direct-acting antivirals [eg nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs)] and immunomodulators [eg pegylated interferon alpha2a (Peg-IFN)] in selected patients with chronic hepatitis B.

Background: In patients with cervical ankylosis, the chin-brow vertical angle (CBVA) should be taken into consideration. Usually, the correction of sagittal balance is sacrificed to ensure the patient has a horizontal visual field. To our knowledge, a staged osteotomy strategy for ankylosing spondylitis kyphotic deformity with an ankylosed cervical spine has not been reported before.

Upregulation of a novel lncRNA LINC01980 promotes tumor growth of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

An increasing number of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been discovered, and dysregulation of lncRNAs plays critical roles in tumorigenesis and tumor progression. In this study, we identified a novel lncRNA LINC01980, located in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, which was significantly upregulated in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tissues through microarray profiling. Further analysis revealed that LINC01980 overexpression was positively correlated with deeper invasion of cancer, positive lymph node metastasis, and advanced TNM stage.

[One case of pyoderma gangrenosum in the lower limbs in Tibetan Plateau treated with vacuum sealing drainage combined with irrigation of oxygen loaded fluid].

A 54 years old male patient with chronic leg ulcers was admitted in our hospital in November 2017. He was diagnosed as pyoderma gangrenosum by the pathological examination. Then the wound was treated with simple vacuum sealing drainage combined with irrigation of oxygen loaded fluid.

[Advances in the research of effects of autologous platelet-rich plasma on the treatment of burn wounds].

Autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is plasma with high concentration of platelet extracted from autologous blood. After activation, growth factors involved in wound healing are released from PRP. Current clinical investigations have demonstrated that the application of PRP seems to enhance the clinical outcome of plastic surgery, oral implantology, maxillofacial region and bone repair, and cardio-thoracic surgery.

Selective dopamine D3 receptor antagonist YQA14 inhibits morphine-induced behavioral sensitization in wild type, but not in dopamine D3 receptor knockout mice.

Increasing preclinical evidence demonstrates that dopamine D3 receptor (D3R) antagonists are a potential option for the treatment of drug addiction. The reinstatement of the addiction can be triggered by environmental stimuli that acquire motivational salience through repeated associations with the drug's effects. YQA14 is a novel D3R antagonist that has exhibited pharmacotherapeutic efficacy in reducing cocaine and amphetamine reward and relapse to drug seeking in mice.

Inhibitive Effects of FGF2/FGFR1 Pathway on Astrocyte-Mediated Inflammation and After Infrasound Exposure.

Infrasound, a kind of ambient noise, can cause severe disorders to various human organs, specially to central nervous system (CNS). Our previous studies have shown that infrasound-induced CNS injury was closely related with astrocytes activation and astrocytes-mediated neuroinflammation, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are still largely unclear. FGF2/FGFR1 (Fibroblast growth factor 2/Fibroblast growth factor receptor 1) pathway was reported to play an important role in anti-inflammation in CNS disorders.

Serum peptide expression and treatment responses in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer.

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation is an important predictor for response to personalized treatments of patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However its usage is limited due to the difficult of obtaining tissue specimens. A novel prediction system using matrix assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has been reported to be a perspective tool in European countries to identify patients who are likely to benefit from EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment.

Differentiation therapies have been proposed to overcome the impaired cell differentiation in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, thus far the all-trans retinoic acid-based differentiation therapy has been the only successful modality in treating acute promyelocytic leukemia. Here, we showed that vibsanin A, a novel protein kinase C (PKC) activator, sensitized AML cells to tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI)-induced differentiation.

Prognostic significance of NFIA and NFIB in esophageal squamous carcinoma and esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma.

The nuclear factor I (NFI) family members, especially NFIA and NFIB, play essential roles in cancers. The roles of NFIA and NFIB in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma (EJA) remain poorly known. This study aimed to determine the expression of NFIA and NFIB in ESCC and EJA and elucidate their prognostic significance.

Persistent first intersegmental artery (PFIA) visualized by three-dimensional computed tomography angiography in Chinese population.

Background: Persistent first intersegmental artery (PFIA) is one of the most frequently vertebral artery (VA) variations. The presence of PFIA obviously increases the complexity and difficulty of vertebral lesion treatment. Thus, preoperative detection of PFIA is necessary to increase the successful rate of surgeries.

Risk factors for non-fusion segment disease after anterior cervical spondylosis surgery: a retrospective study with long-term follow-up of 171 patients.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence and causes of non-fusion segment disease (NFSD), both adjacent and non-adjacent to a fused segment, after anterior cervical arthrodesis.

Methods: This is a single-center study. Between January 1998 and January 2011, two surgeons' 171 patients who had an anterior cervical decompression and fusion were followed clinically for more than 5 years.
