Noninvasive Isocitrate Dehydrogenase 1 Status Prediction in Grade II/III Glioma Based on Magnetic Resonance Images: A Transfer Learning Strategy.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate transfer learning combined with various convolutional neural networks (TL-CNNs) in predicting isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 ( IDH1 ) status of grade II/III gliomas.

Methods: Grade II/III glioma patients diagnosed at the Tangdu Hospital (August 2009 to May 2017) were retrospectively enrolled, including 54 patients with IDH1 mutant and 56 patients with wild-type IDH1 . Convolutional neural networks, AlexNet, GoogLeNet, ResNet, and VGGNet were fine-tuned with T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), fluid attenuation inversion recovery (FLAIR), and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging (T1CE) images.

Plasma oxidative lipidomics reveals signatures for sepsis-associated acute kidney injury.

Background: Oxidized lipids are essential bioactive lipid mediators generated during infection that regulate oxidative stress and the inflammatory response, but their signatures in patients with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) are poorly understood. This study analyzed the oxidative lipidomics of plasma from patients with SA-AKI to reveal the underlying biomarkers and pathophysiological mechanisms involved in sepsis.

Materials: A total of 67 patients with SA-AKI and 20 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs) participated in this prospective cohort study.

Programmable Pump for Intrathecal Morphine Delivery to Cisterna Magna: Clinical Implications in Novel Management of Refractory Pain Above Middle Thoracic Vertebrae Level Utilizing a Prospective Trial Protocol and Review.

Background: The cisterna Intrathecal Drug Delivery system (IDDS) with morphine has proven to be effective in treating refractory cancer pain above the middle thoracic vertebrae level in some countries. However, it has not been fully investigated in others. We designed the current project to investigate the efficacy and safety of cisterna IDDS for pain relief in refractory pain above the middle thoracic vertebrae level in advanced cancer patients.

Uncovering a Distinct Gene Signature in Endothelial Cells Associated With Contrast Enhancement in Glioblastoma.

Purpose: Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive and lethal type of brain tumors. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been commonly used for GBM diagnosis. Contrast enhancement (CE) on T1-weighted sequences are presented in nearly all GBM as a result of high vascular permeability in glioblastomas.

Intrathecal Morphine Delivery at Cisterna Magna to Control Refractory Cancer-Related Pain: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Background: For patients suffering from primary or metastatic cancer above the middle thoracic vertebrae, refractory pain management still remains a great challenge. Theoretically, inserting a catheter tip into the cisterna magna may be a promising solution. However, at present, there have been no reliable data regarding this novel technique.

Disrupted Patterns of Rich-Club and Diverse-Club Organizations in Subjective Cognitive Decline and Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment.

Background: Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) and amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) were considered to be a continuum of Alzheimer's disease (AD) spectrum. The abnormal topological architecture and rich-club organization in the brain functional network can reveal the pathology of the AD spectrum. However, few studies have explored the disrupted patterns of diverse club organizations and the combination of rich- and diverse-club organizations in SCD and aMCI.

Effects of Ghrelin on the Apoptosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis Fibroblast-Like Synoviocyte MH7A Cells.

Ghrelin is a circulating peptide hormone, which involved in promoting feeding and regulating energy metabolism in human and rodents. Abnormal synovial hyperplasia is the most important pathologic hallmark of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which is characterised by tumor-like expansion. Existing studies indicated that there may exist some relation between the decreased ghrelin and the abnormally proliferating synovial cells in RA.
