Objective: It is challenging to accurately distinguish atypical endometrial hyperplasia (AEH) and endometrial cancer (EC) under routine transvaginal ultrasonic (TVU) detection. Our research aims to use the few-shot learning (FSL) method to identify non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia (NAEH), AEH, and EC based on limited TVU images.
Methods: The TVU images of pathologically confirmed NAEH, AEH, and EC patients (n = 33 per class) were split into the support set (SS, n = 3 per class) and the query set (QS, n = 30 per class).

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are widely used in cancer treatment; however, the emergence of ICI-associated myocarditis (ICI-MC) presents a severe and potentially fatal complication with poorly understood pathophysiological mechanisms. This study aimed to identify crucial immune-related genes in ICI-MC and uncover potential therapeutic targets using bioinformatics.
Methods: Using the GSE180045 dataset, which includes three groups-Group A: ICI patients without immune adverse events, Group B: ICI patients with non-myocarditis immune adverse events, and Group C: ICI patients with myocarditis-we analyzed differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between ICI-MC samples (Group C) and non-myocarditis controls (Groups A and B).

Objective: Expanding on previous investigations, this study aims to elucidate the role of lipid metabolism disorders in the development of intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) and the determination of stroke risk. The primary objective is to explore the connections between lipid parameters and acute ischemic stroke (AIS), while also examining the potential mediating influence of fasting glucose levels.
Methods: Retrospectively, we collected data from symptomatic ICAS patients at the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, including their baseline information such as medical histories and admission blood biochemical parameters.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients infected with COVID-19 experience much worse prognosis. However, the specific mechanisms behind this phenomenon remain unclear. We conducted a multicentre study, collecting surgical tissue samples from a total of 36 NSCLC patients across three centres to analyse.

This study investigates the potential anti-colorectal cancer (CRC) activity of IMT1, a novel specific inhibitor of mitochondrial RNA polymerase (POLRMT). Single-cell RNA sequencing data reveal that POLRMT is overexpressed in CRC cells. Additionally, elevated POLRMT expression was observed in local CRC tissues and cells, while its expression remained relatively low in colon epithelial tissues and cells.

Combined deficiency of coagulation factor V (FV) and factor VIII (FVIII) is a rare bleeding disease caused by variants in either lectin mannose binding 1 (LMAN1) or multiple coagulation factor deficiency 2 (MCFD2) gene. Reducing the level of FVIII by inhibiting the LMAN1-MCFD2 complex may become a new anticoagulant approach. We aimed to find a new therapeutic option for anticoagulation by RNA interference (RNAi) targeting LMAN1 and MCFD2.

Transcription factor 3 (TCF3), a pivotal member of the TCF/LEF family, plays a critical role in tumorigenesis. Nonetheless, its impact on the tumor microenvironment (TME) and cancer phenotypes remains elusive. We perform an exhaustive analysis of TCF3 expression, DNA variation profiles, prognostic implications, and associations with the TME and immunological aspects.

Background: It is well-known that body composition metrics can influence the prognosis of various diseases. This study investigated how body composition metrics predict acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) prognosis, focusing on the ratio of visceral fat area (VFA) to subcutaneous fat area (SFA), SFA to standard body weight (SBW), VFA to SBW, and muscle area (MA) to SBW. These metrics were assessed at the level of the twelfth thoracic vertebra (T12 computed tomography [CT] level) to determine their correlation with the outcomes of ARDS.

Magnesium is the most promising absorbable metallic implant material for bone regeneration and alloy WE43 is already FDA approved for cardiovascular applications. This study investigates the cyto- and biocompatibility of novel additively manufactured (AM) porous WE43 scaffolds as well as their osteogenic potential and degradation characteristics in an orthotopic canine bone defect model. The cytocompatibility was demonstrated using modified ISO 10993-conform extract-based indirect and direct assays, respectively.

Background: The study of fetal heart is receiving increasing attention. Fetal heart quantification (Fetal HQ) technology is a new speckle tracking technology that can analyze the 24-segment morphology and function of fetal ventricles. This study aims to use Fetal HQ to assess the changes in the structure and function of the fetal heart in normal mid to late pregnancy, providing a foundation for the clinical application of fetal cardiac speckle tracking technology.

Background: Accumulating evidence has showed a bidirectional link between periodontitis (PD) and primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), but the mechanisms of their occurrence remain unclear. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the shared diagnostic genes and potential mechanisms between PD and pSS using bioinformatics methods.
Methods: Gene expression data for PD and pSS were acquired from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database.

Introduction: ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) is the most severe form of acute hypoxic respiratory failure. Most studies related to ARDS have excluded patients with hematologic diseases, let alone allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) recipients. Numerous patients experiencing severe hypoxic respiratory failure do not meet the Berlin definition due to the limitations of diagnosis and treatment.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is the second most common hematological tumor in adults. Immunomodulatory drugs (IMiDs), such as thalidomide and lenalidomide (Len), are effective drugs for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Len can recruit IKZF1 and IKZF3 to cereblon (CRBN), a substrate receptor of the cullin 4-RING E3 ligase (CRL4), promote their ubiquitination and degradation, and finally inhibit the proliferation of myeloma cells.

The most prevalent form of colon cancer also ranks high among cancer-related deaths globally. Traditional chemotherapy drugs do not provide sufficient therapeutic efficacy, and advanced colon cancer demonstrates considerable resistance to chemotherapy. As an oral kinase inhibitor, sorafenib (SOR) suppresses the growth of tumour cells, the formation of new blood vessels, and the death of cancer cells.

In this study, we utilized the Olink Cardiovascular III panel to compare the expression levels of 92 cardiovascular-related proteins between patients with dilated cardiomyopathy combined with heart failure (DCM-HF) (n = 20) and healthy normal people (Normal) (n = 18). The top five most significant proteins, including SPP1, IGFBP7, F11R, CHI3L1, and Plaur, were selected by Olink proteomics. These proteins were further validated using ELISA in plasma samples collected from an additional cohort.

Prostate cancer presents as a challenging disease, as it is often characterized as an immunologically "cold" tumor, leading to suboptimal outcomes with current immunotherapeutic approaches in clinical settings. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) harnesses reactive oxygen species generated by photosensitizers (PSs) to disrupt the intracellular redox equilibrium. This process induces DNA damage in both the mitochondria and nucleus, activating the process of immunogenic cell death (ICD) and the cGAS-STING pathway.
