One-for-all phototheranostics that allows the simultaneous implementations of multiple optical imaging and therapeutic modalities by utilizing a single component, is growing into a sparkling frontier in cancer treatment. Of particular interest is phototheranostic agent with emission in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window. Nevertheless, the practical uses of those conventional NIR-II agents are severely impeded by their unsatisfactory features including insufficient stability, low synthetic yield, to be extended absorption/ emission wavelengths, and inefficient phototheranostic outcomes.

Background: Autophagy dysfunction in glial cells is implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). The previous study reported that α-synuclein (α-Syn) disrupted autophagy in cultured microglia. However, the mechanism of microglial autophagy dysregulation is poorly understood.

To explore the complications of long-term placement of Montgomery T silicone stent (Ttube) in the treatment of subglottic benign airway stenosis (SBAS) and the timing of successful Ttube removal. We retrospectively collected the clinical data of 32 patients with SBAS who underwent the treatment of Ttube and analyzed their placement and successful removal of the Ttube. There were 22 males and 10 females, aged from 21 to 79 years (60.

Aims: Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by the formation of Lewy bodies (LBs), primarily constituted of α-synuclein (α-Syn). Microglial cells exhibit specific reactivity toward misfolded proteins such as α-Syn. However, the exact clearance mechanism and related molecular targets remain elusive.

Walking pace is a simple and functional form of exercise and a strong predictor of health, but little is known about its causal association with rheumatoid arthritis. This study aimed to investigate the causal effect of WP on the developing RA using Mendelian randomization analysis. The genetic variation associated with WP was selected as an instrumental variable from the latest genome-wide association studies.

Chronic osteomyelitis (OM) represents a severe and persistent infectious bone disease. Effective treatment requires controlled anti-inflammatory releases and bone regeneration across disease phases. A Sr@Ag-based scaffold was successfully printed, featuring micron-scale coaxial fibers containing Ag-doped hydroxyapatite (HA) in the outer layer of PLLA and Sr-doped HA in the inner layer of PLLA, facilitating the spatiotemporal and sequential release of Ag and Sr ions during OM treatment.

Background: Telomeres are specialized structures at the ends of chromosomes that are important for their protection. Over time, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have gradually come into the spotlight as essential biomarkers of proliferation, migration, and invasion of human malignant tumors. Nevertheless, the impact of telomere-related lncRNAs (TRLs) in gastric cancer is currently unknown.

Background: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a multifaceted injury that can cause a wide range of symptoms and impairments, leading to significant effects on brain function. Nucleophosmin 1 (NPM1), a versatile phosphoprotein located in the nucleolus, is being recognized as a possible controller of cellular stress reactions and could be important in reducing neuro dysfunction caused by TBI. However the critical roles of NPM1 in cellular stress in TBI remains unclear.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains a leading cause of global mortality, with current screening and diagnostic methods often lacking in sensitivity and specificity. In our endeavor to develop precise, objective, and easily accessible diagnostic biomarkers for NSCLC, this study aimed to leverage rapidly evolving liquid biopsy techniques in the field of pathology to differentiate NSCLC patients from healthy controls by isolating peripheral blood samples and enriching extracellular vesicles (EVs) containing lung-derived proteins (thyroid transcription factor-1 [TTF-1] and surfactant protein B [SFTPB]), along with the cancer-associated protein CD151 EVs. Additionally, for practical applications, we established a nano-flow cytometry assay to detect plasma EVs readily.

Background: Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) resistance is closely associated with altered AR status. Aberrant AR expression is critical for the induction of ADT resistance, necessitating the identification of an anti-PCa target independent of AR expression.
Methods: Transcriptomic data and clinical information of PRAD were obtained from TCGA database.

The present work describes the development of silk fibroin (SF)/chitosan (CS)-based porous composite anal fistula scaffold (SCAFS) with anti-inflammatory and healing functions. The SCAFS comprises an inner layer made from degummed silk fiber using a vertical braiding machine, and an outer layer created by freeze-drying a mixture of short SF fibers and curcumin (CUR)/5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) loaded SF/CS solution. Results revealed that the SCAFS has high porosity of 42.

Background: The stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) was developed to mitigate the influence of long-term chronic glycemic factors on stress hyperglycemia levels, which are associated with adverse clinical events, particularly cardiovascular events. However, studies examining the SHR index and its prognostic significance in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) are lacking. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between the SHR index and all-cause mortality in critically ill patients with AF upon Intensive Care Unit admission.

Objective: To evaluate clinical, pathological and gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI) findings of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in non-cirrhotic livers and compare with HCC in cirrhotic livers.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients with pathologically confirmed HCC who underwent preoperative Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI between January 2015 and October 2021. Propensity scores were utilized to match non-cirrhotic HCCs (NCHCCs) patients with cirrhotic HCCs (CHCCs) patients.
