Background: It is a challenging problem to differentiate obstructive hydronephrosis from noninvasive evaluation of renal pelvis and ureteral motility in patients. The purpose of this study was to explore the value of 640-slice dynamic volume CT (DVCT) in the quantitative measurement of upper urinary tract (UUT) pump function after acute unilateral lower ureteral obstruction in pigs.
Methods: In this study, a perfusion pig model was constructed by constant pressure perfusion testing of the renal pelvis and left nephrostomy.

The incidence of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) is increasing. Accumulating evidence suggests that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in HPH, but the functions and mechanism have yet to be fully elucidated. In the present study, we established a HPH rat model with 8 h of hypoxia exposure (10% O2) per day for 21 days.

Mesenchymal stem cell derived (MSC) exosomes are extracellular vesicles with a diameter of about 50-200 nm. Exosomes contain a large number of biologically active substances including mRNAs, miRNAs, cytokines, chemokines, proteins, lipids, etc. MSC exosomes exert biological effects through paracrine and endocrine pathways in vivo.

Graves' ophthalmopathy, also known as thyroid-associated orbitopathy (TAO), is the most common inflammatory eye disease in adults. The most common etiology for TAO is Graves' disease (GD); however, proteomic research focusing on differences between GD and TAO is limited. This study aimed to identify differentially expressed proteins between thyroid-associated orbitopathy (TAO) and GD.

Diabetic cardiovascular diseases (DCVDs) are the most common complications of diabetes mellitus and are considered to be one of the most important threats to global health and an economic burden. Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), circular RNA (circRNA), and miRNA are a novel group of noncoding RNAs that are involved in the regulation of various pathophysiological processes, including DCVDs. Interestingly, both lncRNA and circRNA can act as competing endogenous RNA of miRNA, thereby regulating the expression of the target mRNA by decoying or sponging the miRNA.

The reconstruction of pulmonary vascular structure caused by the proliferation and migration of pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) is the central link in the formation of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Platelet‑derived growth factor (PDGF) can regulate the proliferation and migration of PASMCs. At the same time, nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFATs) plays an important role in the development of PAH.

Mucin1 (MUC1) upregulation in colon cancer has been linked to poor patient outcomes and advanced stage at diagnosis. This is partially due to MUC1-mediated inhibition of T-cell proliferation affecting efficient lysis by cytotoxic lymphocytes, which contributes to escape from immune surveillance. In the present study, human colorectal cancer tissues were collected, and MUC1-positive and MUC1-negative colon cancer mouse models were prepared; subsequently, the number and function of immune cells in tumor tissues were measured using flow cytometry.

Lung cancer has a high mortality rate worldwide. Non‑SMC condensin I complex subunit H (NCAPH) has been identified to be one of the regulatory subunits of the condensin I complex, which is essential for the correct packaging and segregation of chromosomes in eukaryotes. NCAPH is abnormally overexpressed in various types of cancer.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has a high global prevalence, and insufficient insulin secretion is one of the major reasons for its development. Therefore, investigating the association between T2DM and the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes associated with insulin secretion is necessary. T2DM (1,194) and nondiabetic (NDM) (1,292) subjects were enrolled and the ten single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in , , and associated with insulin secretion were genotyped in a Chinese population.

Objective: To investigate the role and mechanism of the high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) in intestinal mucosal barrier injury in rat with sepsis induced by endotoxin lipopolysaccharide (LPS).
Methods: The rats were given intraperitoneal injection of LPS to reproduce a model of sepsis. The effect of HMGB1 inhibitor EP solution (40 mg/kg) on sepsis was observed, and phosphate buffer (PBS) control group was set up.

Diabetic retinopathy (DRP) is a retinal disease caused by diabetes mellitus, which is categorized by microvascular lesions present in the retina such as vascular leakage, vascular proliferation, and retinal ischemia. The plan of the present study was to the synthesis of Cyperus rotundus-loaded zinc oxide nanoparticles (CR-ZnONPs) which was confirmed by the various characterization methods such as UV-vis spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscope, and X-ray diffraction. Also, the effect of CR-ZnONPs on DRP-induced rats was determined by food intake, fasting blood glucose (FBG), HbA1c, insulin, retina thickness, inner nuclear layer (INL), outer nuclear layer (ONL) thickness, lipid peroxidation (LPO), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and superoxide dismutase (SOD).

Background: Oxytocin (OT) has shown a cardioprotective effect on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI). This study aimed to investigate whether the cardioprotective effect of OT is associated with the inhibition of mast cell degranulation and inflammation.
Methods: The left anterior descending coronary artery of rats was ligated for 30 min and reperfused for 120 min to establish an ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury model.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are thought to have great potential in the therapy of acute liver injury. It is possible that these cells may be regulated by the stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1)/CXC chemokine receptor-4 (CXCR4) signaling axis, which has been shown to promote stem cells migration in the inflammation-associated diseases. However, the effects of SDF-1/CXCR4 axis on the MSCs-transplantation-based treatment for acute liver injury and the underlying mechanisms are largely unknown.

We used cell-free culture filtrate of as a reducing mediator of AgNO to silvernanoparticles (AgNPs) and possibly used as a potential anticancer agent against thyroid cancer cells (TPC1). The bio-generation of AgNPs was firmly established by taking a UV spectrum at 380-500 nm wavelength. The Fourier transform spectrum analysis reveals the association of alcohol, phenol and aromatic functional groups with synthesized AgNPs (-AgNPs).
