Radiofrequency Ablation vs. Surgical Resection for Small Early-Stage Primary Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma.

Front Oncol

September 2020

Department of Intensive Care Unit, Affiliated Hangzhou First People's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.

We aimed to compare the survival outcomes of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and surgical resection (SR) for patients with small early-stage primary intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). Patients with small (≤5 cm) and early-stage ICC were screened from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) rates between the SR and RFA patients were evaluated.

Background: Systemic inflammatory response is closely related to the development and prognosis of liver failure. This study aimed to establish a new model combing the inflammatory markers including neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) with several hematological testing indicators to assess the prognosis of patients with hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF).

Methods: A derivation cohort with 421 patients and a validation cohort with 156 patients were recruited from three hospitals.

Aim: To explore the clinicopathological and prognostic role of PIK3CA gene mutation and expression in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.

Methods: A systematic and comprehensive literature search was conducted through EMBASE (via OVID), Web of Science, and PubMed. Relative risks (RRs) and hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were combined to evaluate the relationship of the PIK3CA gene with clinicopathological parameters and the survival of NSCLC patients, respectively.

Background: Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) have strong bone induction properties and can promote healing of fractures and other defects. However, BMP treatment efficacy for long bone nonunion remains controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis was to synthetically evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of BMP plus bone grafting (observation group) versus autologous bone grafting (control group) for limb long bone nonunion.

Background: Lateral epicondylitis (LE) is a common elbow problem. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) was widely used in the treatment of LE and has been shown to relieve the pain and functional impairment (loss of grip strength) caused by tennis elbow. However, the evidence with regard to whether ESWT has better clinical efficacy over other method is not clear.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of microRNA‑21 (miR‑21) in regulating the classical WNT/β‑catenin signaling pathway by targeting low‑density lipoprotein‑related receptor 6 (LRP6) in non‑alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). For this purpose, we established a NAFLD model by feeding C57BL/6J mice a methionine‑choline‑deficient diet. Antagomir‑21 was then injected via the tail vein, and the expression levels of WNT/β‑catenin signaling pathway‑related proteins, such as LRP6, glycogen synthase kinase‑3β (GSK3β), p‑β‑catenin, β‑catenin and the downstream protein, peroxisome proliferator‑activated receptor γ (PPAR‑γ), and lipid metabolism‑related genes, including sterol regulatory element‑binding transcription factor 1c (SREBP1c), fatty acid synthase (FAS), carnitine palmitoyl transferase 1α (CPT1α) and adenosine 5‑monophosphate (AMP)‑activated protein kinase α (AMPKα), were detected.

A novel light-electricity sensing method for PCSK9 detection based on s-PdNFs with multifunctional property.

Biosens Bioelectron

November 2019

Institute of Life Science, College of Pharmacy and School of Public Health, Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, 400016, PR China. Electronic address:

Amounts of studies show that proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) can increase the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ((LDL-C), leading to the progression and development of atherosclerosis. Hence, design an effective method to detect serum PCSK9 is meaningful for the prevention, monitor and diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. Here, we reported a dual-signal method for detecting PCSK9 using a signal label, sulphur-doped palladium nanoflowers (s-PdNFs), inspired by its multifunctional properties of quenching and catalysis, which would simultaneously achieve electrochemiluminescence (ECL) analysis and electrochemical detection.
