Angiogenesis is a key factor in the growth and dissemination of malignant diseases, including breast cancer, with significant implications for its clinical management. It is known that microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in regulating tumor properties in cancers. However, whether miR-497 contributes to breast cancer angiogenesis remains unknown.

Golgi phosphoprotein3 (GOLPH3) is known as an oncoprotein and may be a prognostic biomarker in various tumors. Here we performed a meta-analysis on the association of GOLPH3 expression and survival in solid tumors. All eligible studies were identified in Embase, PubMed and Web of Science Databases up to November 2014.

Purpose: The clinical consequences of accurately identifying lymph node (LN) status in distant metastatic gastric cancer (DMGC) are unclear. We aimed to determine the prognostic significance of N stage, positive LN (PLN) count, and the positive LN ratio (LNR). We also retrospectively compared survival outcomes of DMGC patients stratified by LN dissection (LND).

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) participates in multifarious physiological and pathophysiologic progresses of cancer both in vitro and in vivo. We have previously demonstrated that exogenous H2S promoted liver cancer cells proliferation/anti‑apoptosis/angiogenesis/migration effects via amplifying the activation of NF-κB pathway. However, the effects of H2S on cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis are controversial and remain unclear in C6 glioma cells.

The objective of this study was to explore the biological roles of microRNA-140 (miR-140) in tumor growth, migration, and metastasis of osteosarcoma (OS) in vivo and in vitro. Between 2007 and 2014, 47 cases of OS samples and normal bone tissue samples adjacent to OS were selected from our hospital. Tissue biopsies from OS patients were used to measure miR-140 levels to obtain a correlation between clinicopathological features and miR-140 expression.

Here we report the case of a 69-year-old Chinese Han woman who presented with liver cirrhosis, diabetes mellitus, skin hyperpigmentation, hyperferritinaemia and high transferrin saturation. Subsequent genetic analyses identified a novel heterozygous mutation (p.Cys326Phe) in the SLC40A1 gene.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) has a highly increased incidence rate (20/100,000) in Southern regions of China, while being rare in the rest of the world. NPC is a malignant type of cancer due to its high occurrence rate of metastasis; however, biomarkers for effective diagnosis and treatment are yet to be identified. Annexin A1 is a glucocorticoid‑regulated member of a large superfamily of calcium and phospholipid‑binding proteins and has been shown to have important roles in tumor development and progression, and was demonstrated to be a prognostic biomarker for head and neck cancer types.

Aims: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, and it is still lacking effective prognostic biomarkers so far. Previous results of the iTRAQ-based quantitative proteomics study (iTRAQ-2DLC-MS/MS) have shown that α-methylacyl-CoA racemase (AMACR) might be a promising prognostic biomarker for the early recurrence/metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here a large-scale cohort clinical study was performed to evaluate its prognostic potential.

Genetic variations in DNA repair genes are thought to modify DNA repair capacity and may to be related to cancer susceptibility. However, epidemiological study results have been inconsistent. In this meta-analysis, we assessed 24 case-control studies of association between the X-ray repair cross complementing group 1 (XRCC1) Arg399Gln polymorphism and bladder cancer susceptibility in the general population and in Asian and non-Asian subgroups.

Background: Published data regarding the association between xeroderma pigmentosum group D (XPD) Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms and gastric cancer susceptibility havew been inconclusive. This meta-analysis was therefore performed toobtain a more precise estimation of any relationship.
Materials And Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify all case-control studies of Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms and susceptibility to gastric cancer.
