Customized Multifunctional Peptide Hydrogel Scaffolds for CAR-T-Cell Rapid Proliferation and Solid Tumor Immunotherapy.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

August 2022

Key Laboratory of Neuroregeneration of Jiangsu and Ministry of Education, Nantong University, 226001 Nantong, P. R. China.

CAR-T-cell therapies must be expanded to obtain a large number of effector cells quickly, and the current technology cannot address this challenge. A longer operational time would lose or alter the function and phenotype of CAR-T cells in response to therapy, and it also causes a loss in the optimal treatment time for patients. At present, lower survival time and homing efficiency reduce the antitumor effect of CAR-T in vivo.

Objective: This study investigated whether lncRNA NEAT1 could inhibit the proliferation of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) cells by targeting miR-342-3p/CUL4B, thereby affecting the occurrence and development of CSCC.

Methods: Fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression of lncRNA NEAT1 and miR-42-3p in skin squamous cell carcinoma and adjacent tissues. Bioinformatics software and luciferase reporter gene assay were used to analyze the association of lncRNA NEAT1 and miR-342-3p.

Objective: We aimed to prospectively investigate intravoxel incoherent motion parameters to predict the response to chemotherapy in locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.

Methods: From July 2016 to March 2018, 30 advanced NSCLC patients were enrolled and underwent chest intravoxel incoherent motion-diffusion-weighted imaging at Siemens 3T magnetic resonance imaging before and at the end of the first cycle of chemotherapy. Regions of interest were drawn including the whole tumor volume to derive the apparent diffusion coefficient value, D, D*, and f, respectively.

Background: Diabetic macular edema (DME) is a serious complication of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Recent studies have shown that inflammation is closely associated with the development of DME, and peripheral blood inflammatory markers [white blood cell (WBC) count and its subtypes] are relatively simple and easy to detect. Here, we investigated the relationship between peripheral blood inflammatory markers and macular edema in patients with severe DR (including both severe non-proliferative DR and proliferative DR).

Many patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) are inoperable because of old age or the advanced stage of the disease; thus radio- and chemotherapy are believed as the standard treatments for these patients. However, due to the radio-resistance of tumor cells that may develop during radiotherapy, results remain unsatisfactory. In this article, the possible relationship between the expression of lysine demethylase 5B (KDM5B) and ESCC radio-resistance is clarified, and the underlying mechanism is evaluated.

Downregulation of lncRNA NEAT1 inhibits the proliferation of human cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and .

Ann Transl Med

January 2022

Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Second Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, The First People's Hospital of Nantong, Nantong, China.

Background: The incidence of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC), a malignant tumor that threatens human life, is increasing every year, and yet its pathogenesis is still unclear. This study found that long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1) was abnormally expressed in CSCC. However, the biochemical mechanisms of lncRNA NEAT1 in carcinogenesis and the development of cancer remain unclear.

Department of Radiation Oncology, Jiangsu Cancer Hospital, Jiangsu Institute of Cancer Research, The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing 210009, China.

: Cervical cancer (CC) is one of the most common female malignancies worldwide. An increasing body of evidence suggests that circular RNAs (circRNAs) participate in the pathogenesis of various cancers, including CC. However, the expression profile and underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown.

Background: Migraine is a common neurovascular disorder that has a severe impact on the individual daily life. Atogepant (AGN-241689) is an orally ingested, small-molecule drugs belonging to calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonist, which has been initiated for the prophylactic treatment of migraine. However, there is no comprehensive literature to study the efficacy and safety of atogepant for the treatment of migraine.

Purpose: Nowadays, the integration of Artificial intelligence algorithms and quantified radiographic imaging-based diagnostic procedures is hailing amplified deliberation particularly in assessment of skeletal maturity. So we intend to formulate a logistic regression model for intelligent and quantitative estimation of Fishman skeletal maturation index (SMI) based on the parameters attained from the cervical vertebrae CBCT images of Chinese girls.

Methods: From 709 hand wrist radiographs and CBCT images, 447 samples were randomly selected (called as G1) to build a logistic regression model.

Immune Cell-Derived Extracellular Vesicles - New Strategies in Cancer Immunotherapy.

Front Immunol

February 2022

Department of Clinical Laboratory, The First People's Hospital of Nantong, Affiliated Hospital 2 of Nantong University, Nantong, China.

Immune cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) have increasingly become the focus of research due to their unique characteristics and bioinspired applications. They are lipid bilayer membrane nanosized vesicles harboring a range of immune cell-derived surface receptors and effector molecules from parental cells. Immune cell-derived EVs are important mediators of intercellular communication that regulate specific mechanisms of adaptive and innate immune responses.

C9orf72 knockdown alleviates hepatic insulin resistance by promoting lipophagy.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

January 2022

Department of Endocrinology, Affiliated Hospital 2 of Nantong University, The First People's Hospital of Nantong, Nantong, Jiangsu, China. Electronic address:

Insulin resistance (IR) attributed by the deficiency of lipophagy, is an abnormal state of downregulation of insulin-mediated glucose uptake and use into the liver. Chromosome 9 open reading frame 72 (C9orf72) variously modulates autophagy. We investigated the role and the downstream pathway of C9orf72 in hepatic IR.

Background: Esophageal cancer (EC) is a common malignant tumor of the digestive tract, the treatment of which involves surgery combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, as well as other comprehensive types of treatment. The pathogenesis of EC remains unclear, which hinders the development of clinical therapy and the identification of molecular targets for this disease. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been shown to be associated with the malignant biological behavior of EC, but the specific molecular mechanisms underlying the carcinogenesis of EC are not fully understood.

Bone infection is one of the common complications of orthopedic surgery. After bone trauma occurs in the human body, the infection of and Gram-negative bacteria into the fracture area can lead to double infection of the soft tissue and bone tissue at the fracture site, leading to a variety of complications, mostly in the lower extremities. Bone infection easily causes bone destruction, bone nonunion, and bone defect, seriously affecting the quality of life of patients.
